Guest guest
Thank you moequraishi for your observation of the amount of information on the site! One thing you have is a guarantee of Passed Assured to pay for your next exam (I think that is the guarantee, isn't it? How did you find this site? I think you probably passed but just feel a bit startled when you saw drugs on the test that you did not know. The thing is that there are many people taking the exam who are currently working as techs. They usually do not study as much as those who study from scratch. And since there is NO tech education requirement to take the exam the exam has to be equally weighted for both the experienced, non- experienced and educated and non-educated applicants. So practicing techs usually can answer those types of questions, while they might not be able to answer specific law or math questions if they do not use that particular math/law on the job. This doesn ot mean that I accept or condone the current existing exam and its contents. But what I am saying is I believe you have an equal chance at passing as someone with the knowledge of the drugs. I am veru glad to hear that there is MORE about pharmacology on the exam. Interestingly I work with a tech teacher who has the last name spelled Quraishi! Any relationship to him? Feel free to email me privately if you would like to be put in contact with him. PLEASE let me know if there is a specific topic that was on the exam that I do not have a tutorial for. PLEASE know that I am here for you if you must retake the exam. But I seriously doubt it. I just don't believe (yet) the exam has changed that much. I think it is about your perception of how well you did or did not do. Testing is a very stressful event for some people. You just may be one of them who are. But I commend you for continuing to study. Guest guest
Your welcome Jeanetta, I ran into this website while I was searching on google for study groups, I ran into another forum, and it took me here, I referred alot of my classmates and my instructor to this website, and they are going to join as well because they saw how much information there is on this group to help. And as for you working with someone with the last name as me, I don't believe I'm related, but I might be, because I come from a very big family, and I still to this day meet new family members that I knew nothing of, hahah.... Well my school pays for the first and second exam, but the third we have to come out of pocket... My instructor said no one in he's class had to take the exam a third time so it would be history if someone does, so I'm pretty confident if I don't pass the first time, I will the second. What I had trouble with the most on the exam was math, I'm not all that bad nor great with it, and the exam I took, had a whole lot of math, versus another classmate of mine who took the exam the same day who only had 1/4th math on he's exam... What I don't understand is how some of my previous classmates passed the exam when they would get about 70-75% on the pass assured, but I would get 97% each time on the pass assured... It's probably on which test they got, I wish I had gotten one of theirs lol.... Well I won't be too harsh on myself, I might just pass the exam, but either way it's good to study more, and be ready at all times. Thanks, Moe Quraishi. > > > > This website has alot of information, I wish I came accross a > couple > > months ago so I would study for my PTCB Exam, I took the test > already > > on the 30th of August, and I will be getting my results on > September > > 19th.... the test was very hard, and alot of drugs I have never > even > > heard of, lots of math, which is my weak point.... Guest guest
Moequraishi, I agree with you there is a LOT here! More than when I was a member a while back. I just found the link to the audio trade and generic files! I love Jeanetta's math tutorials they helped me the most while I was in school! Thanks Jeanetta! Keep em coming! Guest guest
Yes , If you look at the statistics of posts in 2006 they were very slow. It picked up in 2007. This is probably because it was the first year of electronic testing. So I stepped up to the plate a bit more than in 2006, due to more messages, requiests and demonstrated need. Keep us posted on your career path, Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator F/O > > Moequraishi, > > I agree with you there is a LOT here! Guest guest
Dear Ronold/RA, I just remembered that in early 2007 I revamped the files and numbered the folders tomake it easier to put them in order. That was a demonstrated need. That made the site easier to use. That may have helped membership a bit too. But my point being I do not think I really added so much more, as much as I organized it. And by doing so you can now SEE just how many topics or folders/files docs I have in one section. Anyway hope it helps, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator F/O > > > > Your welcome Jeanetta, I ran into this website while I was > searching > > on google for study groups, I ran into another forum, and it took > me > > here, I referred alot of my classmates and my instructor to this > > website, and they are going to join as well because they saw how > much > > information there is on this group to help. > > > > And as for you working with someone with the last name as me, I > don't > > believe I'm related, but I might be, because I come from a very big > > family, and I still to this day meet new family members that I knew > > nothing of, hahah.... > > > > Well my school pays for the first and second exam, but the third we > > have to come out of pocket... Guest guest
I am going back and reading all the posts with a whole new interest now. I start methotrexate probably next week. For years and years, I would get a major " rash " in the fall. I have been to countless doctors for it and was always told it was eczema. However, the meds and creams for eczema never worked. My partner is an RN and she has told me for the last 8 years that it is psoriasis. No doctor would concur with that, although she is ALWAYS right. Always. Then my fingernails started peeling and falling off late in the summer this year. My rheumy has a poster on his wall about PA, and that is the first time I had heard about it. I asked him and he said he didn't think that was what I had. I went back today with the rash covering me and all red and angry looking. He apologized for missing it last time. He felt so bad. So he ordered lab work and I go back next week to start the MTX. Although, I may change the appointment to 2 weeks from now so I can get stuff taken care of in the house. If this is going to knock me on my rear end and make me sick, I want to be prepared. I truly appreciate all the support this list gives me. I hope you all have a great Holiday season! Guest guest
I'm glad your doc finally listened! I started methotrexate about 6 weeks ago, and I haven't had any side effects from it. My stiffness has improved quite a bit although the pain is the same. Good luck!  Opal  PS - I have a son with complex medical problems, and the NURSES always know what's going on before the docs do!! I truly appreciate all the support this list gives me. I have been on methotrexate for about a year and a half. I seldom have any problems with it other than a bit of an upset stomach about 12-24 hours later. Gareeth
Guest guest
- glad to hear Grant is doing well on the MTX!! How is the uveitis? Did the MTX help that as well? Take care, sherry z
Guest guest
Sherry - Yes- the MTX is helping his eyes too! They aren't completely inflammation free like I would want in a perfect world but I've come to terms with that and can accept a minimal amount of inflammation. The uveitis specialist has assured us that he has not seen damage to the eye as a result of that minimal amount of inflammation. We've certainly had our ups and downs with the MTX though. After about 6 months on the injection Grant couldn't tolerate it psychologically anymore. He would throw up within seconds of the injection. He went from giving himself the injection to us sitting on him while screaming and giving it to him that way. So we were very fortunate to be able to go back to the pills and that still has kept the eyes under control. We have our next appointment in 2 weeks and am always very anxious for those. Since he has no outward symptoms of eye inflammation (like pain of redness of the eye)we would never know if he was having a flare). Thanks for asking! & Grant(11, PsA/Uveitis)
