Guest guest
My son has been treated for almost 2 yrs now. He recently started a tincture called Bar-1 (Bartonella). Combinations he has taken: Rifampin (for almost the whole time), Tindamax, Cipro, Suprax, Azith, Alinia, Doxy, Septra, Plaqunil, Rizol My (tincture), Doryx. He is also on Zoloft and Busbar for the Bart anxiety. I agree, the Bart seems to be the toughest to kick. Best wishes, Elaine
Guest guest
My daughter did well on Cipro and Bactrim. She was on it for 4 years and the many different stripes went away and symptoms improved. She then went to IV Doxycycline for a year and a half and then oral zithromax. She has been on just oral zithro for the past few years and we have been concerned for the past year that the bartonella may be back. The stripes are still gone, but GI issues have returned and lab titers are higher than before. They do not keep going up but bounce from 1:64 up to 1:256. There are slight stripes back on her back but they fade to nothing. Dr. J thought a trial of zitho and cipro was a good one to try again. He thought of minocycline first but as cipro worked before, he went with that. Good Luck. I wish there was a clear way to tell if the Bartonella was really gone or back again... Guest guest
My Son took Bactrim + Zithro for 5 months. At month 5, he tested negative for bart. He is now on minocycline plus Omnicef (for Lyme) and is doing well. The Zithro was terrible on his stomach. He sees Dr. J. --Sue
Guest guest
Do the Bart stripes get more pronounced after a shower or hot bath? I have interesting fan-shaped stripes on my back after showering. They start in the center of my lower back and fan out like a peacock tail. They gradually fade in about an hr. I don't think they're scratch marks. ________________________________

Guest guest
Our daughter took Mino and Rifampin for the bart for about 10 months. Her Bart marks are gone, but still has symptoms-urine frequency, anxiety, just occasional headaches. Took low dose Cipro but had to stop due to increased anxiety, weird head, etc. Bactrim-- again had to stop after one month as made anxiety to hard to tolerate, headaches, lightheaded. Her titers do not drop only increase. Anxiety, nervous, anxious seem to be her worse symptoms at the present. > > My daughter did well on Cipro and Bactrim. Guest guest
My son (then...17 mos about) took rifampin with amoxicillin for a month, I believe. He had already been treated for Lyme and taken off abx when his bart test came back +. He has since tested negative for everything and is currently asymptomatic. We were lucky though, and started treatment almost immediately. > > I am just curious of the different combos that everybody's using. My kids have been treated for a coulple of years now, but the Bart remains strong!!! > > >
