Guest guest
Hi, All, General comments regarding the recent discussions: 1. When I was finally diagnosed over 10 years ago (at the age of 44, and I had arthritis signs as a teenager!), my rheumy told me there are 7 different types of PA, so obviously, symptoms, treatments, etc. vary (on top of people-to-people normal variation). 2. I'm saving the biologics for when I can't stand the pain or am so deformed I can't play the viola and piano, knit, garden, etc. My choice. BUT, I've done a lot of research (on and off the web) and take a lot of supplements, keep reading, etc.). I feel that because I happen to be wierdly sensitive chemically, and typically one has to change drug treatments after a while, that I don't want to start down that path and then run our of options. 3. I lead what is apparently a normal, active life (but not as active as I used to be or want to be). I hurt every day, some days more than others; usually in several joints, some times all (also have fibro and muscle problems, so it's hard to pin down what is causing what). Luckily, I have a very high pain tolerance and my brain and stubbornness can help me work through darn-near anything (not kidding, have had doctors 'marvel' at it). BUT, quality of life is paramount, and for me, that is being able to do the things I want. For others, it may be not hurting and improving mood, etc. I admit, my temper is short some days.. There is no right or wrong, each of us choose for ourselves ;-). A forerunner of this group was instrumental to me when I was first diagnosed. I usually lurk, because I have little time to even read (business trips, music rehearsals, help manage my orchestra, etc.). I'm quite grateful for it being here and a few months ago, decided I'd be an active reader again. Thank goodness for the internet, because without it, undoubtedly, my life would be quite different! Take care of yourselves. Geri
Guest guest
Geri: do you feel that the supplements are helping? With the pain or preventing further damage? In either case, what are you taking that you've found to be helpful? I read so much conflicting info on them . . . ..
