Guest guest
My name is and I am 43 years old. I am a nurse and have battled on going health issues over the last 15 years. I won't bore everyone with every procedure, I will just say that I had pancreatitis for years and have had a total pancreatectomy with autologous islet cell transplant.Islet cells are the insulin and glucagon making cells in our pancreas. Mine were harvested and placed onto my liver after my diseased pancreas was removed. This was done during the same surgery. I have had something else also, that was never found until last month with a blood draw. I was told yesterday that I have Sjögren's syndrome and psoriatic arthritis. I can't take methotrexate, as my islet cells were put on my liver, and I have chronically elevated liver enzymes. I was started on sulfasalazine and am in the process of contacting my surgeon to question if I can take Enbrel or any of the other biologicals. I hope to feel better in the next 6 months, I have been ill for a very long time, with multiple problems, all related to the above. I am looking forward to any information I might glean from others here who have walked the path before me. I am familiar with I co moderate a group for those who have had a total pancreatectomy.
