Guest guest
Hi, I live in Dutchess County about 100 miles north of NYC, on a farm. All of my kids have had Lyme, as have I, several times. So I feel like I'm pretty educated about it! However, my middle son, who is now 11, seems to have had it a long time w/o being diagnosed. It has been quite a saga with his health, but I have a specific question for the group. He's struggling in school, so we just got a neuropsych evaluation done, which has shown that he has severe problems that the tester believes are related to Lyme. We have a great Lyme doctor, and an appointment next week to discuss. Because we thought my son was having a relapse, he's on doxy and also zithromax right now. I think the next step is IV antibiotics. I've done research online, and the only study I found showed that all the kids with neuropsych problems responded to the IV antibiotics and improved, but that after they were discontinued they all went back to their previous brain function. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it possible to recover from the Lyme brain problems, or are his issues permanent? (Of course I'll be asking my doctor these questions too!). Thank you for any help you can give, I'm so happy to have found this group!
