I posted a week or so ago speculating that my heart symptoms might be related to

pericarditis.? Can you tell me what the symptoms feel like exactly?? Why do you

think it's pericarditis?? Does it have a constrictive element to it?? Have you

ever had your pericardial fluid tested for pathogens?

Yes, sorry, Peggy. I’ll admit that I don’t read all the messages as I’m on

too many chatlists. Once in a while, on my upper left side (basically it

falls on the right side of my left breast tissue). The feeling is a stabbing

or squeezing feeling. It will come out of nowhere. Until it ceases I cannot

take a deep breath in or out; I have to breath very shallow like. I can’t

move around much. When I move it’s worse. So I usually stay in the one

position that doesn’t hurt until it goes away. The pain is anywhere from

what I described and can follow my breast tissue down all the way to my

lower left ribs. It’s NEVER on the right side, just the left. I’ve never had

the fluid checked because according to my cardiologist, he’s not concerned.

Of course this was years and years ago. It’s just odd that it’s been so

prevalent lately.

Hello Peggy and Wendi,

Is this a really intense, acute pain, or can it be an ongoing,

chronic squeezed feeling, that is in the upper back, as well as, in

the left side of chest? Also, I have breathing problems, more

intensely, when I am lying down..which has come on at the same time,

at which, I had a very severe cardiac reaction to salt. This has

been reported by others, who have had a cardiac reaction to other

substances. I wonder, Wendi, if you have had a cardiac reaction to

the MCB supplement, and this is what has brought on your pericarditis

symptoms..

Hi Carole – It is intense. So intense that you it paralyzes you for a moment

but for me it comes and goes. The first night it is on the right side of the

edge (what I would imagine it to be) of my heart. Then the next few days the

pain radiates down under my left breast. I don’t have breathing problems,

per say. I can’t inhale or exhale deeply or the pain comes back, thus

keeping it shallow for a while. I’ve been on the supps a while so I’m not

convinced that is it, especially since I’ve been having these pains since I

was 11, now 32.

Regarding salt. On the rare occasions that I get arrythmias, I put a pinch

of salt under my tongue and voila, gone. I eat A LOT of salt since becoming

ill. With low BP, I don’t even worry about too much salt. I’m like a cow,

throw me a salt lick and I’m fine!

Dear Wendi

It sounds like the chest pain I get. Had an electrocardiogram twice with no

adverse findings. The last time was at 4 in the morning so straight off to

emergency so the ECG was done while the pain was present. I did end up with

a great deal of muscle soreness though. I'm in the same boat, had pains like

this since the age of 10 or 11, I'm now 60 so you have a bit to look forward

to.

Regards

R

For me the pain is more often an INTENSE squeezing sensation, like my heart is

in an iron cage and simply cannot beat and is suffocating.? I do also get

sharper pains though, but those are less frequent.? As for salt, I tolerate it

just fine and crave it.

Dear Peggy,

Your symptoms sound more like mine..it has become a chronic condition,

after two years, although the MITO supplements have helped, but only to

a minor degree. I wake up every morning with chest

soreness/tightness/constriction, but sometimes I have more intense pain

with exertion. I feel like I am being slowly suffocated.

When I went for a Stress Echo, the cardiologists thought I had three

blockages of the heart, which Dr. Cheney indicates will happen if they

are testing a CFIDSer with Diastoylic Dysfunction. I collapsed right

after it was over, and nearly fainted (according to the nurse)..and I

have been taking light exercise for 30 years, but not at the pace of

thathat treadmill machine..I had post-exertional malaise (much more

severe than usual) for at least a week aftewards. I have had CFIDS for

about thirty years.
