Guest guest
So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. It's back up. It should be between 40 and 50. My HCT was typically around 50. But never above. It was 60 this last summer while on 2 pumps of T-gel, but I also don't like my new value of 55. So what do I do? Drain myself a little or what? HB is up to 17.8. Range is 13.4 to 17.0. I have an awful pressure in my head and that might be too much blood, or too thick blood, for all I know. T. Guest guest
Unfortunately I know very little about this, plus I am not on TRT at this time. I was just wondering if you guys with thick blood would be helped by taking fish-oil since it thins the blood? Also what about a baby aspirin once a day? > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. It's back up. It should be between 40 and 50. Guest guest
Are you taking anything for your low aldoserone? I think I have lowish aldo as well. I drink 1/2 tea spoon sea salt daily, but stkipped it for a few weeks. Maybe that increased my HCT? Docs mostly say dehydration happens because of low water intake and/or high salt intake. They are wrong, right? Cause I learned, from people on the groups, that LOW salt intake can cause dehydration too - And make people look bloated. Like I am now!! Guest guest
Yes I take Florinef .1 mgs. in the morning if you start on this you need to start with 1/4 of the pill going up 1/4 every 5 to 7 days. Most get by on just adding in Sea Salt. If I stopped the Sea Salt I get so dehydrated my dam head hurts. ================================================ If the dehydration is allowed to continue unabated, when the total fluid loss reaches 5% the following effects of dehydration are normally experienced: Increased heart rate Increased respiration Decreased sweating Decreased urination Increased body temperature Extreme fatigue Muscle cramps Headaches Nausea Tingling of the limbs Co-Moderator Phil > > > > > From: Gibcast <gibcast@...> > > > Subject: HCT > > > > > > Date: Sunday, January 2, 2011, 11:02 AM > > > So after being on 1 pump of > > > Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) > I now > > > have a HCT of 55. Guest guest
If you are planning to donate at a blood center, do it soon. They have an upper limit of hemoblobin above which they won't let you donate. Most will still drain you, with a doctor's order, but they won't use the blood. > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. Guest guest
Well, I never had any issues with dehydration or HCT before I started Testosterone gel. Hertoghe agrees T-gel is making my HCT increase. He says I can drain myself with blood 3x a year. I haven't talked to GP about this yet. Can we trust a HCT reading? Meaning my blood really is too high in volume? Aspirin. VERY bad for the stomach lining. I already take HC, which is bad as well. I dont see why 400 iu Vitamin E and 2000 mg Omega 3 isn't enough. It isn't. > > > From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> > > Subject: Re: HCT > > > > Date: Sunday, January 2, 2011, 12:25 PM > > Unfortunately I know very little > > about this, plus I am not on TRT at this time. > > > > I was just wondering if you guys with thick blood > would be > > helped by taking fish-oil since it thins the blood? > > > > Also what about a baby aspirin once a day? > > > > > > > > > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 > mg > > testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. > It's > > back up. Guest guest
You can have blood taken 3x's / yr. but your will need to keep an eye on your Iron and Ferritin levels. I am on HC meds I take them with food and the baby aspirin no stomach problems here. Guest guest
Just looked up my own HCT level from 10/15/2010. 45.6% which I guess is good. Just read that men are typically about 48% and women 38%. My new doc mentioned giving blood though due to my high ferritin levels. Gonna ask the cardiologist about that when I see him on 1/11 and see what he has to say. The blood places I have called said they didn't take blood from folks with hypertension unless it was well controlled, and also depended upon what type of meds you are on. I always thought that was due to having thick blood with hypertension? Wonder if they would take blood after seeing my HCT levels?

Guest guest
So my HCT only started rising lately after being on 1 pump since August. I had a 1 month break if you remember, due to a HCT of 60 this summer. BUT when I first stararted with Testosterone gel in March, my HCT never passed 50. I wonder why it is higher this time. Maybe it's my salt intake vs. HC dose? I changed my HC lately from 35 to 32.5 mg daily. Maybe if I change HC back to 35 mg, salt will be better absorbed, and I will have a more hydrated body??? LOGICAL? I have strong kidney pain now, and feel super tired and sleepy. > > > > > > > From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> > > > > Subject: Re: HCT > > > > > > > > Date: Sunday, January 2, 2011, 12:25 PM > > > > Unfortunately I know very little > > > > about this, plus I am not on TRT at this time. > > > > > > > > I was just wondering if you guys with thick > blood > > > would be > > > > helped by taking fish-oil since it thins the > blood? > > > > > > > > Also what about a baby aspirin once a day? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel > (100 > > > mg > > > > testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of > 55. > > > It's > > > > back up. Guest guest
Before having blood drawn from you please check reason for why your levels are high 1. dehydration - make sure you 1-2 liters of water before blood drawn 2. Sleep apnea - TRT can induce sleep apnea in some 3. Hemochromatosis - very rare this early on but ferritin should be checked 4. Low thyroid can also cause sleep apnea which can cause high blood readings. 5. might need to adjust TRT > > > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. Guest guest
It is NOT hemtomacrosis. I was Checked for that in a Hospital in August when my HCT shot up to 60. (because of TRT!) I dont have very low thyroid: pulse is above 80, and at the moment 95 - i woke up with high pulse / weirdfeeling in My head. I usually sleep quite well. As for dehydration: Could be, cause I drink 1/2 spoon sea salt daily, but my last serum electrolytes showed a sodium of just 138 Even if it wasnt done fasting. (range: 147 - 145) BUT I also have a very strange and bad feeling in my head AND eyes; dry/pain/blurry/red eyes. --- could this all ve HIGH E2 symptoms? Cause my E2 is sky high! I feel my HCT increases ONLY when I am on TRT. Solution? My Testo values look good, my E2 and HCT/HB don't. I feel asleep at 4 am, and now it's 6 am. And I am awake with a hoerible head, headache, dry/strange sensation in My eyes AND det mouth - It has gotten worse and worse in the past weeks, i feel it's E2-dominance and high HCT, both from TRT doing this to me. Guest guest
The first wave would be to recommend 81 mgs of asprin a day because this has helped with thining the blood, but pleae consult your dr before doing this as I do not know your past medical backgound. Another option would be to increase fish oils consumption with vitamin E. Last resort would be to do blood letting of 1-2 pint depending on dr's recommendation. With sodium that low I would really look at adrenal function with cortisol saliva test to rule it out. Also your dr could run an aldosterone and renin test to see if you are holding on to fluids. When e2 spike it can cause burning sensation, watering, and redness in your eyes due to the fact that it is similar to a histamine response. e2 can also alter hemotology of the blood in some individuals as this can place a strain on thyroid as a result of under active adrenals which I suspect is most likely our case. > > > > > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. Guest guest
Thanks. But as you dont know my background: I have been on HC for more than 1 & 1/2 years, and swapped T4 for Thyroid in March. I added DHEA and T-gel as well. I am supposed to take GH, but I have dared trying it yet. My diagnose, by Dr.Hertoghe, is " post traumatic brain damage " (secondary hypopituitarism). I've been able to keep my Serum Sodium at about 140-142 when taking 1/2 tea spoon sea salt daily, for months. I also get a lil extra salt in my food. Maybe I just need more salt to reduce bloatedness? The eye and head symptoms are the worst, along with skipped heartbeats. I suspect this is E2-dominance. Can you confirm that shipping blood can alter several values, except hormones? Looking at my vitamins, they were higher 2 weeks before this test was done, ALONG with Ferritin at 108. They can't just drop by 50% in just 2 weeks. I suspect erronous blood from shipping. I take 2000 mg Omega 3 daily. But is it Omega 3 that I am lacking, looking at the analyze? Can we trust it? I mean, can it be skewed? I take 400 iu Vitamin E as well. I learned from my GP yesterday that many things like vitamins and iron (ferritin) can be altered when shipping blood over 2 days in the mail (DHL). I have this horrible feeling " I can't eat anything but I lack stuff in my body " .I am on a gluten-free, low-no carb diet, and I am supposed to avoid diary as well. And lately I cut out fruit cause of my insulin resistance. What's left? Meats and salat, and water. IS THIS ENOUGH TO SURVIVE? I am waiting for Hertoghes feedback on my test. It's 8 months since I saw him last time. PS! How can my E2 be at 0.11 nmol/l (Range: <0.18 nmol/l) and just SHOOT UP in 2 weeks like it did between these two tests? So, it was OK, and 2 weeks later, NOT ok at 69 pg/dL. I AM AFRAID TO PUT ON MY T-GEL TODAY!!!!!! Cause I feel it will turn into E2! Â Thanks! From: hardasnails1973 <hardasnails1973@...> Subject: Re: HCT Date: Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 3:24 PM Â The first wave would be to recommend 81 mgs of asprin a day because this has helped with thining the blood, but pleae consult your dr before doing this as I do not know your past medical backgound. > > > > > > T. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I forgot to mention Hertoghe put me on Fludrocortisone: I started at 0.10 mg daily, but it was the most horrible week of my life! Extreme high blood pressure, heart irregularities, I LIVED at the ER. They just shook their head " hormones, don't mess with them! " at the ER.. Anyway... Maybe I do need some Aldo, I did decide to quit it. I have had decent electrolytes lately anyway, except this last time when Sodium was at 138 non-fasting. Thanks! - Feeling VERY sleepy..... and heavy in my head.. From: UU <uu1845@...> Subject: RE: Re: HCT Date: Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 3:28 PM Â Hard, are you Phil's son? Much like other members to our club, you sure have a decent insight. Keep sharing! Guest guest
If there have been irradical readings in blood then I would defintiely question there validity. When we do RBC and mineral testing it is shipped over night priority other wise the company notifies us that the samples may be skewed. So you really have a valid concern. I know these tests are imparitive to your health and should be top priority of the dr to make sure of their accuracy. I would call the lab talk to a lab supervisor and get their opinon on it. Hertzgue is a great speaker and educator, but I have heard inconsitency on what they practice vs what they preach. More so his assisitant then him directly. I always recommend people see him not his assitants. I have watched hours of his lectures and he is very informative. Shippen did an incredible speach on thyroid, but he rarely messes with it in his practice. Some dr's should be educators and not practioner. smith is another great speaker. I have few people in that have been to her clinic and made women worse. > > > > > > > > > > So after being on 1 pump of Testosteron gel (100 mg testosterone pr. pump of gel) I now have a HCT of 55. Guest guest
Well, I have taken 4 out of 5 hormones I was told to take. Hertoghe tell sme Growth Hormon is the most important hormone for me to take, sine I have a high IGFBP-3, and an IGF-1 too low for a body my height. He tells me the reference range is not made for people my height: 6 foot 3 inches, or 193 cm in height. He tells me my IGF-1 needs to be near 800. Now it's 470, which is in the top of the range. He says this is too low. That's why I have GH lying in my fridge, waiting for me. Maybe I will get a lot better if I start it. My diagnose if Secondary Hypopituitarism. But one can not know for sure if this is really what I have. It's just Hertoghes educateed guess. I hit my head at age 13-14, and started putting on weight. But that could also have been insuling resistance (WHY do we get that btw?) and me eating stuff with sugar and carbs in it. Anyhoo, I was more than 300 lbs in my teens. At age 18 I had MANY Hypothyroidism-symptoms, including fatigue, obesity, slow speech, slow thoughts, I was freezing a lot, and so on. I was put on Synthetic T4 and healed incresibly fast - After 12 months I had lost almost HALF my weight and was a normal, healthy, skinny, happy, good looking boy at age 20! I was fine between 1997 and 2007 but then something happened. I was put under a lot of stress by different people. My theory now is that my adrenals went lower and lower. I could barely move around in 2008 and 2009. In the summer of 2009 I was finally put on HC (and T3-only for a couple of months due to rT3-dominance) after a saliva test for cortisol by a Finnish doctor (Karin Munsterhjelm). She spoke highly of Dr. Hertoghe, btw. And told me and my mother that if I wouldn't start healing, I should go and see Hertoghe. I started seeing Hertoghe in March 2010 and was put on T-gel, DHEA, Thyroid (swapped T3 for that, since he doesn't " believe " in rT3-theories), and kept taking HC. He put me on Fludrocortison but it was horrible so I quit it. Sometimes I wonder if I need any hormones at all. Maybe I just have EFA out of balance. Maybe that's all there's to it! My testosterone was never more than half the range while on T4 those 10 years I felt amazingly great - My sexlife, however, was PERFFECT, I had sex 5-10 times a day, and had large amounts of ejaculate, powerful orgasms, and happy girlfriends! :-) I just wonder why everything keeps getting worse on TRT... Do I simply need Arimidex to solve it all? Guest guest
I currently work on complex cases across the world dealing with fatigue, depression from both male and female. I am in school studying alternative medicine and work with Dr's when they may need a little guidence on what direction to go with specific cases ranges from lyme, autism, heavy metal, gut issues, ect. I have also been through and them some from a personal stand point. Many years ago I was stricten with unknown illness which medical dr's just labels it as depression, but I knew it was an intestinal infection that went out of control almost killing me. Now I help people that have slipped thorugh the cracks of modern medicine. I am very respected on the forums for helping people get back there well being by examing the root cause of the issue not just the symptoms. i have known phil for over 6 years and we are very close freinds. I have worked in a clincal setting for a few years under supervision of an MD where we work together bringing the best of alternative medicine and traditional medicine to help resolve people health issues. > > > > > > It is NOT hemtomacrosis.
