Hi Shaun,

A personal trainer at my gym told me that during strength training/weight

lifting, it is possible to stimulate growth hormone production. To do so,

increase the weight and do no more than five reps at a time. I myself was

lifting three sets of eight reps, but have now shifted to three sets of five

reps. If I were doing it the way I was before, there would have been no way

I could have gotten twenty-four reps completed.

I'm not sure how long it takes to reach an optimum level, but this is at

least a start.

Shaun why did your Dr. take you off TRT I feel this is crimanl and charges

should be brought agenst him.

One can't start on TRT then stop it when your brain sees the added Testosterone

in your blood from TRT it shuts down sending the LH and FSH message to your

testis and they stop making Testosterone.

Your not going to feel better on supplements and until you get a better Dr. and

back on TRT don't work out or over do anything.

Is this a new Dr. an Endo they do crap like this pull men off TRT to do what

they call Base Line labs there is no such thing I know been taken off TRT 7

times each time by some Endo a Dr. sent me to see because I was not feeling 100%

on TRT.

Dr.'s Endo's told me I am Primary and each time to took me off TRT all they

found out was how sick they made me. And each time they did this it took me

longer to get back going back on TRT. And they still got it wrong I am not

Primary I am Secondary.

Read my story at this link.

Working out with low Testosterone levels is nuts your body needs Testosterone to

support your joints and muscles all your doing is damage working out with low

levels of T. And Growth Hormone takes a hit when your Testosterone levels are

low. All working out is going to do is harm until you get on treatment and

leveled off.

Like Phil, I don't think a supplement will help your predicament much.

That aside, I wanted to share my experience with supplements.

In the early 90's, a few articles came out about Boron and how it boosts T. A

lot has come out after that to refute the claim, so it's questionable.

However, I was using Twinlab 3mg boron capsules 1 daily and was working out

hard. I had remarkable gains in strength and muscle size.

Again - all anecdotal, but just thought it was worth sharing.

Email sent before I was finished....

Continuing...

My diet I want to be more paleo (meat, vegetables, fruits, berries, and

nuts) centered but with a focus on alkaline (pH) as well. If your body

is not alkaline (~7.35) all types of things can go wrong, so far I hover

around high 5's or 6's in the AM, I have a long ways to go, I need more

vegetables as they are highly alkaline.

In terms of exercise, T can be boosted by doing:

* HIIT - This is very short but very intense intervals followed by a

rest period and then another intense interval. I am not talking

about a " hard " interval, I am talking about a intense interval,

for example here is a HIIT routine I did yesterday:

http://mattjon332.wordpress.com/2010/12/01/health-habits-workout-day-18/

A word of warning, this is not something to jump into full steam,

I suggest you have very large rest periods between intervals and

limit the intervals at the start. My first HIIT session I did 5

minutes, I nearly blacked out, was shaky and tired for the next

30min after, now as you can see I have came a long ways! I have

read that after a HIIT session T can be boosted by 30-40%, and

IMHO you can get more fitness faster this way then doing very long

duration cardio (unless your ultimate goal is a long duration

cardio event such as marathon).

* HIRT - This is like HIIT but with resistance training.

* Lifting heavy weights - Lifting heavy seems to cause more T

production, a focus on the lower body (because its larger muscles)

can raise T for the entire body. Meaning working the lower body

may actually boost any results you will get up top.

* Rest and recovery - You want to get good workouts, but you have to

rest, if your feeling run down its time to back off. Your muscles

grow/get stronger when you rest so make sure you have plenty of rest.

* Don't workout for more then a hour or so at at time - Unless your

training for an endurance event, you don't need to workout that

long at a single session as you will start to overly stress your body.

These are just my thoughts on the matter, take them for what they are

worth. I have not fixed my T yet that I know of, but I am working

towards it. After the beginning of the year when things settle down

more I am going to try to get more labs done and see where I am at.
