No comments at all folks?

I am trying to tie this all together before June 1st.

Have read here that free T is 1 to 2% of total,.....how does this translate to

my results?

Are we talking free T, or free T% in the Quest tests.

I am sincerely confused about how my free T can be within range or over,......my

free T% over both times, but my total low for my age on both tests.

The web site " Testosterone Nation has the info about this call " The Big T " if

you search there site and find it every thing you need to know is in this. I

have a link to it but it dose not work now.

What is says is of all the Testosterone in your body called Total T only 1 to

2% of it is free not bound up and working this is not called Free T% is called

Free T. So if your total T is 800 2% of 800 is a lot more then 2% of a total T

of 300. You need a high Total to have a good Free T. This is why it's not a

good test to tell if one is low Total is the best gage.

I think this limk will help you better.

http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html

For the labs you need to have before starting on TRT so you know why your low go

to Dr. 's site and read TRT: A Recipe for Success in this are labs you need

and why.

Thanks for that link Phil,....I understand a little better anyway.

I now see why I felt decent in 2005 still even though my total T was not

optimal. The important part, being the free T was 120.6pg/ml, and has since

dropped to 65.2pg/ml.

That site seems to suggest close to 150pg/ml or higher as optimal.

No explanation for a normal free T and a lower range total T though as took

place in 2005.

It did confirm your theory that I also agree with, that with my total so low, my

LH should have been been high if my pituitary was functioning

correctly,......not low third of normal range like it came back. This makes me

think it might not be my testes at all.

The other option of course is high estrogen like we already discussed, and they

kind of went over that as well. Actually says that many men between 40 and 60

fix things by bring estrogen under control.

I am hoping that is my problem, and that my pituitary thinks my total T is just

fine and also explaining my LH result of 3.7 as well.

I am definitely getting that estrogen test done one way or the other, plus I

want my total and free T tested again.

At this point I have my T levels, LH, FSH, Prolactin, and will be getting the

estrogen done. Out of that extensive list of recommended tests,.......which is

most important that I have not already covered?

My doc is pretty open to input from me, but I don't know if he is going to order

20 special blood tests for me. Thanks much!

Then just test this at Quest adding in LH and FSH.

Here is what I am have done at Quest Labs

Estradiol sensitive Code #4021

Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable & Total LC/MS/MS Code # 14966X.

If your Estradiol is between 20 to 30 with a mid range of SHBG and your LH and

FSH are low you need to have your Pituitary looked at. In the test #14966 SHBG

comes in it.

If your Total, Free and Bio are all low with high Estradiol it's the Estradiol.

Thanks for those codes Phil.

I realize I am becoming annoying at this point most likely, but I want to have

the most important things done ASAP after my visit June 1st.

I am trying to follow advice from here in regards to finding out the cause of my

low T before starting on TRT like many do. I have never had any supplemental T

and I really want to know where my issue arises from if possible. Even though I

feel like garbage, I can tough it out for awhile longer.

Don't want to start the stuff, and then live with a mystery going forward.

Thanks much!

Marc anytime you need help just ask I hate seeing someone start on TRT with out

finding out why they are low to start with. I had a young guy post to me he

just got married and was having ED problems tested his Testosterone and his

levels were dam low. In taking back and forth he told me he never felt sick a

day in his life until he got married and started to become a health nut. He

told me he eats good foods now and drinks a lot of SOY MILK even.

Well knowing what I have picked up over the yrs I told him drinking all that SOY

MILK might be why his T levels are low. You see SOY acts like the Estradiol E2

hormone in a mans or women's body it's a E2 marker I call it that looks like E2

in the body and the brain sees this as high Testosterone much like it sees high

Estradiol as high Testosterone. He stopped the SOY and in about 2 months his T

levels came back up and he got his sex life back.

So you see any thing I find dose not shock me anymore. I know of a young guy

that had a root canal done and the Dr. did not get all the nerve out it was a

low grade infection that lowered his T levels he had the tooth pulled and his

levels came back up.

Phil,....hate to bug you again.

I was writing down all the info on those two tests with codes you recommended

and did a search on them.

I ran across a different forum where the doc you speak of often, says he has

quit using Quest for the #4021 test due to 'sabotage' I believe he said.

Somebody mentioned a person named Phil, so possibly you belong to that forum as

well. I believe it was from early this year.

Starting to feel like a dog chasing his tail around trying to determine the

proper tests to have done.

Do you know anything about Crisler not using that test any longer?

Thanks much Marc,.....I go to my doc on June 1st. but I can certainly hold off

on blood tests for a week if I need to.

I have always used Quest Diagnostics, but we have a LabCorp here as well.

I am starting to get down about all of this to be honest. I keep reading about

folks having 20 blood tests done every few weeks, and being on multiple drugs

along with many supplements as well. This is up,.....that is down,....I feel

like crap, and need to fix this reading for the week. :(

I just want to feel better again, not change my life into that of an 80 YO going

to the doc, and taking meds by the dozen every day.

Sorry for being negative.

I hope things go great for you!

Dr. is mad as hel* at Quest labs they got him to stand behind there new

Ultra Sensitive Estradiol Test the range is <29 they are having big problems

with this he got a lot of his guys getting back levels saying <2 on one could be

this low. My Dr. called a guy he knows at Quest and he told my Dr. they are

having problems with this Ulta Estradiol test. So I just keep getting the old

Sentivie test #4021 some of his guys tried to get this test and Quest told them

at the station they take the blood this test is not avalobul any more. Yet I

still get it. Dr. got mad and will not use them anymore it's not Quest it

the dam people that work there.

What you are going through is reading burnout take a break from this Quest or

LabCorp your going to be OK but if your last set of labs were Quest switching to

LabCorp it will be hard to tell what is going on the ranges are not the same.

I guess I will specify #4021 to my doc then,.......I will also go over it when

they take my blood at Quest.

Another question is about the other T test.

I see a #14966 listed, as well as a #14966X. They look the same to me BTW. I

don't know which one to request at this point.

How difficult can this stuff be? :((

Phil,....you are correct, I need a break from it all to be honest.

I just want to get the proper tests done, that's all.

Phil,......also what is the deal with the other test?

I find a 14966, and a 14966X on Quests site.

Both look the same to me,......are they?

I am going to call them this afternoon to verify that this stuff is still

offered in my area. Don't want to pressure my doc about codes, and then end up

getting things screwed up, and looking like a dolt.

I think the test is the same some areas use the X at the end. I don't have the

number on my labs that came back but if you tell them the number and the name

you should get the right test and SHBG and Albumin come with this test under

this number.

Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable & Total LC/MS/MS Code # 14966X.
