Guest guest
When you feel like this did you do labs taking Cortisol labs by blood can show high due to the stress of the needle. If your labs were from a 4x's in a day saliva test this can mean you are in the early stages of Adrenal Fatigue. http://www.chronicfatigue.org/ASI%201%20.html But then what your feeling can be your sugar levels falling people with AF have low sugar levels and have a problem sleeping at night because there sugar drops to low. The following is a cut and paste from this link. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ Going on Cortef or HC is needed when you are in bad shape feeling shakey, weak and sick to your stomich from stressful things. ==================================================== In early stages of adrenal fatigue cortisol levels tend to rise and if they are high at midnight they can energise you and keep you awake. Phosphorylated serine can be used to lower cortisol at these times due to its ACTH dampening effect. Guest guest
Hi, i don't know much, but don't you think it can be adrenaline that is being released for some reason? Adrenaline lowers histamine, causing dry mouth.. it also makes the heart race.. just a thought..
Guest guest
And this happens when ones Cortisol levels are falling. A cut and paste from this link. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ ================================================== If your cortisol drops too low during the night your blood sugar drops too. Your body compensate by releasing adrenaline as an emergency measure to mobilize more sugar. This has the effect of waking you in an instant. This can be reduced by eating high protein snack before retiring e.g. sardines, nuts of high quality protein shake. Guest guest
Thanks guys, interesting about the blood sugars, will keep that in mind. It still feels like a cortisol thing to me, ive had high cortisol at night in the past and its just the same except this time its worse. I wonder if my thyroid is the problem. Perhaps my body is ramping up cortisol, trying to get my thyroid to produce more? > > > From: fluffymetalangel <fluffymetalangel@...> > > Subject: Re: Testosterone makes cortisol go up? > > > > Date: Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 2:50 PM > > Hi, i don't know much, but don't you > > think it can be adrenaline that is being released for some > > reason? Guest guest
High Estradiol will do this also I would wake up in the middle of the night in a full Panic Attack was on Xanax for yrs. never helped much and all this time it was very high levels of Estradiol. Estradiol will go it's highest at night. Guest guest
Phil, When you say you woke up at night, was it like " I'm awake! " - not a gradual awakening, but an abrupt one. It happens to me every night but I think my E2 is okay (good wood, only 100mg/week spilt in two shots). Just curios as I take Xanaz once in a while to help me sleep. It does knock me out, but not all night. Your thoughts? Guest guest
Bill the other thing that can do this is your Cortisol levels might be to high at night or falling to low. I got over the panic attacks getting my E2 levels down but still need to take .125 mgs of Xanax at bedtime been on this for yrs. My Dr. says this low dose will not hurt me and it's not the E2 doing the panic attack I have had them all my life on and off and the feeling of high E2 at night in my sleep brings on a Panic Attack. So when I got this fixed then I find out my sugar was also falling to low and it will wake me up wide awake in a sweat and shot of breath this is my suger falling. So my Dr. upped my Cortef HC dose and it helps also I eat some nuts or cheese before going to bed. Read this cut and past from this link. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ ================================================= Adrenal insufficiency is linked to insomnia in two ways. 1) If your cortisol drops too low during the night your blood sugar drops too. Your body compensate by releasing adrenaline as an emergency measure to mobilize more sugar. This has the effect of waking you in an instant. Guest guest
I'm hypoglycemic and from all indications have weak adrenals. The combination of these two has left me with sleep problems. Most of the time I wake up after 4.5 - 6 hours of sleep soaked in sweat and starving. I'll have a light snack and some 5-htp or L-theanine to relax, watch TV for about 20 min. and will fall back to sleep. By the time I get back into bed, I'm freezing and will have to bundle up. IMO, this is due to the hypoglycemia/adrenal problem. If I can get my adrenals working, I think I can solve this. I can NOT find a doctor willing to give me cortef, so for now it's herbs and vitamins.

Guest guest
Dave do this get some Isocort it is sold OTC start with one pill in the morning then in 3 days go up one pill at noon then in 3 days do a pill at dinner time keep doing this until your doing 2 pill 4x's a day for a total of 8 pills this is = 20 mgs of Cortisol or Cotref. Doing this if you don't need more works great. If you find this dose not hold you over then you need Cortef you can take this upto 40 mgs a day and be safe. I am on this for life here are some links to help you about this. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=12 & t=15459 http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=12 & t=256 Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dave <dcbaden@...> > Subject: Re: Testosterone makes cortisol go up? > > Date: Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 1:29 PM > > I'm hypoglycemic and from all indications have weak > adrenals. > The combination of these two has left me with sleep > problems. > Most of the time I wake up after 4.5 - 6 hours of sleep > soaked in sweat and starving. I'll have a light snack > and some 5-htp or L-theanine to relax, watch TV for about 20 > min. and will fall back to sleep. By the time I get > back into bed, I'm freezing and will have to bundle > up. IMO, this is due to the hypoglycemia/adrenal > problem. Guest guest
I have heard of some men saying the same thing happened to them going to low.
