Guest guest
Deb, If it is any consolation, I have a known tick-bite, bullseye rash, I tested positive via WB early in my disease, I now test negative on all tests including the infamous PCR....even Steere (our nemesis) acknowledges that the PCR is unreliable. Lyme disease is a clinical dx, and that means based on symptoms and your response to abx. Before you throw in the towel, please keep these facts in mind. I really hope you don't have Lyme disease, and do not want to discourage you from seeking other possible causes of your illness. I just want you to know the testing is very unreliable, regardless of what some ignorant physicians may tell you, Hugs, Marta NJ >From: DJinMECH@... > >ok, my pcr was negative, but my sed rate was high, so i dont think they are >gonna treat me. now i am wondering if this is in my head or maybe lyme >arthritis from years age. >Deb
Guest guest
Hi Deb, I know what you mean about tests, and even the feeling or thoughts that what our physicians tell us is Gospel. I am from the generation that believed the doctor always knew best, well one tick bite changed that belief system real fast. I hate the term " doctor shop " but it really is in our best interest to continue to seek a physician who we do believe or find credible, not just one who will tell us what we need to hear. I respect a doctor who says, " We just don't know, " more so than the one who says, " I am right, and just accept it. " I would think with a nursing background, that you long ago found out that the doctors are not the god-like creatures we give them credit to be. I have heard of high sed-rate in Lyme disease, but also in other diseases, good luck with the appts, hope you do well with the neuro. Keep us posted! Hope you feel better too. Guest guest
I agree with . Unfortunately the written word could be easily misinterpret because we do not hear or see the person talking for better interuptation. Sometimes it is how the reader is feeling at the time, example greater pain. Nutty, please keep giving your opinion (with a possible future disclaimer) and , you are also a wealth of information. Everyone's situation is different and we should all keep that in mind. What works for one, may or may not work for another. Guest guest
Well, after a full year and four different doctors essentially refusing to help me... I'm going to self treat. First doctor said " there's nothing wrong " Second doctor said " there's something wrong but I won't treat you " third doctor said " it's secondary and here's T gel, I won't give you any IM treatment whatsoever, even though your insurance company won't pay for the gel " . Fouth doctor said, " it's secondary and HCG is the best treatment, but we won't give it to you because we don't do that kind of treatment, want some T gel? " . I've driving as far as 125 miles to get to these doctors and lost hundreds if not thousands of dollars of time at work, gas, co-pays, deductables etc. I can't afford to go all the way to philly at this time... maybe this summer. My current blood tests show: Testosterone, Total: 143 ng/dl Testosterone, Free: 27 pg/ml Testosterone, Free %: 1.89 FSH: 1.8 IU/L LH: .93 IU/L Prolactin: 7 ng/ml Thus, I have HCG on the way from ADC and will just give it my best shot. Since I can't add T to it, I'm going to try 250mg / day and see how it goes. In the mean time I'm going to try and save up for paying for blood testing through privatemdlabs.com Since my insurance won't pay for tests not requested by a doctor with diagnosis codes etc. Life's a bitch, then you die, I guess. Hopefully later than sooner.

Guest guest
I am so sorry your having this problem but 2 Dr.'s told you you are Secondary do you understand what this means. You need to have a MRI on your Pituitary to rule out a tumor it's rare to be cancer but if this is your problem you might need sugary on it. Don't start HCG that high a dose everyday try 100 IU's / day. And keep track of your night time and morning wood if you have them and they stop it might be that your Estradiol levels are going to high if this happens post about me most men on HCG only for being Secondary have to take something to keep there Estradiol levels down on HCG. Guest guest
I've already had the mri and it was clear. two of the 4 doctors not only said that HCG was the right treatment... but then said that they " don't do that type of treatment " . Guest guest
There are clinics that will treat you when you hit 40. They are very generic one dose fits all places but at least they will get you IM Test. Email this address if you are interested. ________________________________ From: LostOne0069 <lostone0069@...> Sent: Sat, February 6, 2010 9:55:19 AM Subject: Re: I give up! I just turned 40, why? Guest guest
Unfortunately those same clinics usually don't take insurance and thus we're back in the " can't afford it " territory. Besides, I haven't found anything in my area like that. I'm in central PA and had to drive 125 miles just to find an endo that would even TALK about anything other than diabetes... which I don't have, of course. Guest guest
Lost One,   You need IM Testosterone. Forget the amount of attempts. You a need a doctor to write you a prescription of T cypionate. My numbers were like yours when I started.  Costco has T for 60.00 with Rx.  You'll likely need to start with 75ml 2 times a week and do 250iu of HCG on the days in between.  You are VERY CLOSE don't stop!!!!   From: LostOne0069 <lostone0069@...> Subject: I give up! In the mean time I'm going to try and save up for paying for blood testing through privatemdlabs. com Since my insurance won't pay for tests not requested by a doctor with diagnosis codes etc. Life's a bitch, then you die, I guess. Hopefully later than sooner.
Guest guest
Well, considering I've been to 4 doctors in the last year, one said " you're normal " the second said, you're secondary, but I won't give you T or HCG, but I'll give you anti-depressants, the 3rd said I have secondary and he'd give me androgel... and when my insurance said that it wouldn't pay for androgel he said " sorry, pay for it yourself, I don't give any other treatment " . 4th doctor said, " we agree you're secondary and we agree that HCG is the best treatment for you... but we won't treat you because we don't do anything with home injections except insulin. I can't just keep going from doctor to doctor because my insurance company won't pay for it. I've already had them reject some bills due to " duplication " . They'll pay for a 2nd opinion, but not a 5th, 6th 7th etc. etc. Since I can't afford to pay for the doc myself... I'm left with either living with it (NOT an option) or treating myself. The HCG is cheap and readily available and is likely my best shot. Sure, I'd love to add some T along with it, but T is not as cheap and readily available. So I'll do HCG and maybe somewhere down the road I'll find a doctor that will treat me and maybe it'll be long enough that the insurance co will pay for it. Bottom line, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm sure open to suggestions, but people just keep repeating, " find another doctor " like we had free medical care or something.
