Guest guest
I am lost as to what your talking about because you started a new thread and anything you posted before this thread is not there so tell me. Are you on TRT doing 100 mgs per week and them labs are on TRT. You need to understand now Testosterone works in the body Total T is all the Testosterone your body's makes Free and % of Free Testosterone every Bio. T are a small % of your Total Free T is only 2% of your Total T so as your Total T gets to the upper 1/3 of your labs range then you test your free's becuse the 2% of your higher Total will be a lot more Free T. Also if your Estradiol levels are high your SHBG will be high and this will bind up your Free T levels read this link. Here is a cut and paste from it. http://tinyurl.com/yhn3gnm ==================================================== When Testosterone is converted from cholesterol in the leydig cells of the testis, it's released into the blood stream where it embarks on an anabolic adventure. However, when in the blood, 60% of the big T released from the boys down below is bound up by a protein known as SHBG, or sex-hormone binding globulin. SHBG is produced and released by the liver. The important point is that the Testosterone bound to SHBG is biologically inactive and this is why there's an important distinction between total T and bioavailable T. Total T represents all the Testosterone in the blood, while bioavailable T represents the non SHBG bound Testosterone. There are other proteins in the blood that bind Testosterone, too, but their binding is rather weak, so this T is bioavailable and these proteins can still enter the cells to produce and effect all the things we're interested in. As I said, bioavailable T represents the Testosterone that is not SHBG bound, while free T represents the Testosterone that's not bound to any blood proteins at all. It's tricky, I know, but I hope that it's now evident that although only about 2% of the T in blood is technically considered free T, there is a larger percentage of T (about 40% or so) that is bioavailable because it's only weakly bound to non SHBG blood proteins. I'm taking you through this complex path for good reason. When trying to increase T levels in the body, one must attempt to not only increase total T. More importantly, one must attempt to increase bioavailable T. If you increase total T, but you increase SHBG to a larger extent, they you will actually have less bioavailable T for muscle building purposes! Guest guest
Hi Phil, Sorry for any confussion. I am on TRT 100MG every two weeks. My T has not been checked since I started TRT (have only had one injection so far). So, is it then possible to be hypogondal becuase of low free T?. I am wondering if this can be the case with me when my T was 552, but my free T was 1.46 standard range 1.5-2.20. Appreciate any insight you can shed into what you think might be the case with what is going on in my body. Guest guest
If I were you I would not do anymore shots and have your Estradiol levels checked if they are high this can lower your Testosterone levels. Estradiol E2 in men is made from Testosterone so as your E2 levels go up your brain will think it's Testosterone and slow down sending the LH and FSH message to your testis and you end up with a lower level and E2 at high levels will up your SHBG levels this will bind up any of your Free Testosterone. So test this if it's high get on Indoplex/DIM or Arimidex to get your levels back down this will lower your SHBG and unbind your Free T levels and your Total T can go up some 200 to 300 points and you don't need to be on shots. This low shot is not going to do much anyway men start on 100 mgs every week not every 2 weeks. http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm In this link it's about older men but I have seen this happen to younger men. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm In this link it tells you everything you need to know about low T and high Estradiol. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html Any men with levels in the 500's for Total Testosterone should have there Estradiol checked first before going on TRT. Guest guest
Phil, thanks for all the useful information. I am going to read up on the links. The site has been very helpful! > > > > > > > From: csgelber@ <csgelber@> > > > > Subject: What is going on with my > > body? > > > > > > > > Date: Friday, February 5, 2010, 1:07 PM > > > > How can testosterone be 552 , > > > > with free testosterone on the low side? Guest guest
> Sorry for any confussion. I am on TRT 100MG every two weeks. My T has not been checked since I started TRT (have only had one injection so far). Hi, at 100mg every 2 weeks after a month you'll be as low or lower than you were at the beginning (assuming testing 2 weeks after shot). after a month your testes will be shut down so it's ALL coming from the shot. read up on the Dr. Crisler stuff in the files sections. most common dose seems to be 100mg every week, with a few a little lower, and a few a LOT higher (some folks are 150+mg/week) plus arimidex (which will keep testosterone as testosterone instead of converting to estrogens) and many doing HCG at 250iu twice a week (either days 5-6 just before the weekly shot, or the day before on the twice a week bunch). 2+ week shots are so old school... but then you're new to this... maybe the doc doesn't think you can administer your own shots? most here do... with a 25g or even 27g (smaller than the doc uses) into the thigh... easy... first one is hardest psychologically but after that it's a piece of cake.
