Which another way of saying: the people posting here are not a representative group of TRT patients. Many (most?) TRT patients, I suspect, found a treatment that worked for them reasonably well--perhaps after an adjustment or two--and kind of " got on with their lives. Guest guest
Hi everyone. I still await my labs before I start on my journey (whatever that is)into TRT land. It seems though, that this process is like balancing on the edge of a razor. Has anyone had consistent good experiences without the crashes and other pitfalls most seem to report at some stage? Sounds like when you try to address the T levels it opens many other doors which present their own hazards. Dan Q.
Guest guest
Dan most of what you hare here is from new people going on TRT with a not so good Dr. They start them on Andorgel at a very low dose and tell them to come back in 3 months. One needs to be checked after 2 weeks starting on Gels. Dr.'s that give shots will put the men on a big dam shot every 2 to 3 weeks this is dam old and dose not work you end up on a Roller Coaster Ride up after the big shot the only to fall very low by the next one. And this big shot converting into Estradiol. Now about new people and Estradiol most Dr.'s will not even test this. It's not about going on TRT and having bigger Problems it's about see a good Dr. or your learning about this so you know when your Dr. is not doing right by you. Men that come here and get tuned up stop posting because they feel better. It would be nice a lot of them posted how good they are doing but out sight out of mind. =================================================== Starting on Androgel or Testim. Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel. Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150. The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and you fall back. Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread it over the area but don't rub it in. The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots. I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5 grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen and test them again in 2 weeks. When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later. Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell back. Guest guest
This is true when people feel better you don't hear from them anymore. Guest guest
My experience since beginning last august has been great.Have not had any levels checked and really see no reason.I was prescribed 200mg IM every two weeks.Only did this once before I went to every 3 1/2 days of around 50mg.Added DIM,TMG zinc and copper from Philip's recomendations.I believe a major difference is I went from 270 to 190's on a high fat, very low carb diet and waist went from 42 to 33.Belly is fat and pretty firm for a 54 y/o.I suppose coversion to estradilol is difficult without belly fat.Hide my face and I could pass for a 35y/o in good shape. That is from a high fat diet.I met all five of the parameters for metabolic syndrome and pre diabetes.I meet none of them now. It's tempting to up the test dose and get really pumped but fear I will mess up a good thing. You can't overstate the importance of losing belly fat.It makes a huge difference.
