Guest guest
Dave how many mcgs are you on and how are your Cortisol levels your not converting the T4 only med into T3 so your body gets rid is execss T4 by making RT3. Check your Cortisol levels you need Cortisol to carry the hormones out of your blood into your cells. What you need to do if your Cortisol is low go on Cortef 5 mgs 4 x's a day. I have a ton of info about this if your low. Also some new things about using T4 is out in a new study try adding some T3 5 mcgs 2x's a day to start. http://thyroid.about.com/b/2010/05/17/t3-superior-t4-levothyroxine-hypothyroidis\ m-thyroid.htm?nl=1 Next time you do your labs get Free T3 and T4 and Total T3 and T4 done. Also check your Ferritin and your Thyroid Antibodies (anti-TPO and TgAb. YOU NEED BOTH.) If your Cortisol levels are good doing a morning fasting test that comes back above 15 then look into trying NTH meds like this one. http://www.universaldrugstore.com/medications/Thyroid/60mg Here is some links about RT3 how it works and how to get it down. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/reverse-T3/ http://thyroid-rt3.com/ I don't like doing T3 only to get RT3 down unless you can fix the problem that made it like stress in your life. If you can't fix it stopping T3 only RT3 will just come back up. Guest guest
Thanks Phil I'm on 75mcg of levothyroxine. My AM cortisol was good at 17.6 (6.2 - 19.4) I still suspect I have adrenal problems. Don't have Ferritin, but my hemoglobin was high and was told to stay away from iron. This all makes a lot more sense than what my doc is telling me. I think I need to be on Armour or something with T3 and boost my adrenals and I'll be fine. Anyone have any luck with licorice root for adrenals? > > > From: Dave <dcbaden@...> > > Subject: Labs make no sense > > > > Date: Friday, June 4, 2010, 8:42 PM > > After being on Levothyroxine for 3 > > months (I started with a TSH of 2.89) > > Now, my TSH is 2.45! > > T4 = 1.58 (.82 - 1.77) > > Reverse T3 = 386! Guest guest
Your good in the morning but this might be because of the needle taking your blood Dr. says this happens. I would get a 4 x's in a day saliva test see how your levels look accorss the day into night. My Dr. started me back on Thyroid meds 150 mcgs of levothyroxine he feels this is a starting dose. When I went on HGH I was on 4 grains of Armour we can't get this anymore. Anyway my Thyroid started working on HGH and I went Hyper. He ended up having to take me off Armour and this in two months I had to stop HGH the dose was to high. So I am on levothyroxine and back on a lower dose of HGH and not going hyper on my next set of labs if Thyroid is not looking better we are going to add T3 Cytomel at 5 mcgs 2 x's a day. Because we can't get Armour anymore people are doing the ERFA Thyroid from Cananda. http://www.universaldrugstore.com/medications/Thyroid/60mg You can try this or just add some T3 to the mix. Guest guest
I think my cortisol was ok in the morning because it wasn't really " morning " when I went to get my blood drawn. I have a really screwed up sleep schedule and I went at 8:30 when I woke up in a cold sweat because my blood sugar was low and probably cortisol was high. I usually then have a snack and catch a few more hours of sleep but I had to get my blood drawn fasted, so I ran over to Labcorp. I'm going to try licorice root, ginseng and ashwaganda herbs to bring my adrenals back online. If that doesn't work I'm going to Isocort as you suggested. If that doesn't work, my adrenals are probably ok, I'll check with the canary club test. Then if all else fails, I'm going to beg my docs for T3. I thought they changed the Armour formulation. I guess they made it into something useless? > > Your good in the morning but this might be because of the needle taking your blood Dr. says this happens. Guest guest
You can get Armour type meds if you need them the best one is in this link. http://www.universaldrugstore.com/medications/Thyroid/60mg I tried all the stuff you talking about and it dose not help much at all. Your best to just try Isocort. Guest guest
I understand they are shipping 1/2 and 1 grain tablets. I just sent in a mail order Rx for 1gr. 2x a day. Fingers crossed. I do like the ERSA from Canada though because it is sweet like the old Armour. ________________________________ From: james <jimevans_2000@...> Sent: Mon, June 7, 2010 10:14:00 AM Subject: Re: Labs make no sense > > > When I went on HGH I was on 4 grains of Armour we can't get this anymore. Guest guest
But it's not the same as the Armour I and others were on last yr. We could put it under our tongue not now they changed the filler in it. I hear a lot of people are doing all kinds of things to take it without swollen it. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/2010/04/25/how-to-make-reformulated-armour-\ and-naturethroid-work/ Co-Moderator Phil > From: james <jimevans_2000@...> > Subject: Re: Labs make no sense > > Date: Monday, June 7, 2010, 11:14 AM > > > > > > > > > When I went on HGH I was on 4 grains of Armour we > can't get this anymore. > > Phil, I haven't had any trouble getting Armour. Guest guest
Definitely chalky. It have a high tolerance for different tastes and just chew them a little and put it under tongue or in my cheek. They dissolve slower though. Guest guest
For a time it was off the market because they changed it. Armour was out long before the FDA but because they changed the fillers in it the FDA made them stop making it to do the required studies to pass FDA laws. I know a lot of people that were on the old Armour and are saying the new Armour dose not work this was before the FDA pulled it but what is out now is the same it is not as good as the old Armour was. We liked the old Armour because we could put it under our tongue and did not have to worry about food or Vit's we were taking even Iron pills. Guest guest
It isn't too bad. I took it for several months before the FDA pulled it. It just tastes chalky. The biggest problem for me is that is just doesn't dissolve well. ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Mon, June 7, 2010 10:44:15 AM Subject: Re: Re: Labs make no sense Your going to find if you don't crush it up and mix it with some hard candy your not going keep it in your mouth long. Guest guest
I am trying Synthroid with T3 so far it's just Synthroid. I went hyper on Armour was doing 4 grains across the day. After starting on HGH my Thyroid started working on it's own. So we kept lowering the Armour until I just had to stop it. Soon after this the HGH was giving me bad sides and I had to stop it. Now off HGH my TSH went up to 5.7 and Free T3 was below mid range with Free T4 at the bottom of the range. I am on the Synthroid 150 mcgs and back on the HGH but at a lower dose. If my next set of labs are still low for FT3 we are going to add in T3 to the Synthroid there is a new study out about this working great. We will start with 5 mcgs of T3 2x's a day. http://thyroid.about.com/b/2010/05/17/t3-superior-t4-levothyroxine-hypothyroidis\ m-thyroid.htm?nl=1 Co-Moderator Phil > > > From: james <jimevans_2000@...> > > Subject: Re: Labs make no sense > > > > Date: Monday, June 7, 2010, 11:14 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > When I went on HGH I was on 4 grains of Armour > we > > can't get this anymore. > > > > Phil, I haven't had any trouble getting Armour. Guest guest
Thanks for the link Phil. I talked to my doctor about this when Armour and the others disappeared but he said he didn't like doing it because it has always caused problems. I then just searched the Canadian pharmacies and had him fax up a Rx. ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Mon, June 7, 2010 10:50:56 AM Subject: Re: Re: Labs make no sense I am trying Synthroid with T3 so far it's just Synthroid. Guest guest
Well last time I talked to hardasnails he said he was doing it with some good luck. Not everyone can do this they need NTH meds. On HGH I can't take NTH meds anymore and the thinking is in time it might bury out my thyroid. Guest guest
Not that hard of an issue First of all get off the t-4 generic crap and use either erfa, NT or Synthroid. Generic do not work for majority of people Second you could be having a tissue deficeincy which is not causing the signal not to respond at deep levels at the receptor. SO check adrenal saliva and also ferritin. Also What are you eating 2 hours after taking thyroid meds. I find alot of people eating things that bind hormones and make them not proper absorb 1. Look at factors in diet 2. Look at adrenals properly 3. Look at factors that can affect tissue response as mentioned above 4. Examine your daily stress patterns and how can you modify your response to stress 5. Look at nutritoinal factors that prevent conversion in rt3 such as selenium, iodone , iron, b-12, ect. 6. Look for heavy metals or insulin issues as well. > > After being on Levothyroxine for 3 months (I started with a TSH of 2.89) > Now, my TSH is 2.45! > T4 = 1.58 (.82 - 1.77) > Reverse T3 = 386! Guest guest
I think for the majority of people generic works fine. But some indeed are better on genuine Synthroid. 20 minutes on an empty stomach is fine to avoid goitrogin binding of thyroid hormones. Be well!
