Guest guest
Phil, I went to my family doc and got my first shot (switched from Androgel) this morning. A Christmas present! The prescription was for 1 cc. I am supposed to come back in 4 weeks. That sounds like a really long time from what I am reading here. Won't my T levels be down really low for a long time? Can you tell me how much 1 cc is? Thanks,
Guest guest
Yep bad thing if he wants you to come in and do a 1cc or 1ml they are the same if the Test C he used is 200mgs/ml or cc he gave you a 200mg shot. This is what a good Dr. up on TRT gives a man on the first shot but then he dose 100 mgs every weeks so you should be doing 100 mgs in a shot in a week. Your not going to last 4 weeks until your next shot or are you doing your own shots and he just wants you back in for labs in 4 weeks. I find it very hard a Dr. would do this today knowing what we know about doing shots today. In this link page 11 it states to do shots 100 mgs every 7 to 10 days and this is dated. A lot of good Dr.'s let us men do our shots at home and many of us do them 2x's a week to stay leveled. If your Dr. wants you to do 200mgs every 4 weeks your levels will fall big time by 10 days this puts you on a roller coaster ride up after the shot only to fall low by the next one. And it's when levels fall low we feel bad. http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf Remember this link is even out dated. Guest guest
Merry Christmas Phil and all! You asked: Your not going to last 4 weeks until your next shot or are you doing your own shots and he just wants you back in for labs in 4 weeks. My reply: He wants me in for a shot in 4 weeks. He wants labs done in 12 weeks. : ( What if I get more Androgel, and use 10 mg/day to supplement? Will that keep my levels up? I still have bad wood even after the shot so know I need a good dr to work really hard to level everything up. I found a new doc that is reported to be really good, but can't see her until 1/20/11. Guest guest
you lost me if your Dr. is giving you shots every 4 weeks how are you going to get some Androgel. Or do you have a refill for it if you do call your new Dr. and ask her if you can use this Androgel to help keep your levels up. Telling her your old Dr. has you coming in every 4 weeks to get a shot and this does not last long enough. I can't tell you what to do I am not a Dr. Co-Moderator Phil > > > From: McKay <michael.mckay@...> > > Subject: Monthly injection > > > > Date: Thursday, December 23, 2010, 6:06 PM > > Phil, > > > > > > > > I went to my family doc and got my first shot > (switched > > from Androgel) > > this morning. Guest guest
Sorry Phil if I lost you. You moderate a ton of messages! I've been on Androgel for 12+ years. I am primary and my T is at 414 with 10 mg of Androgel and my estrodiol is in the top 1/3 of the range. I hoped that switching to shots would help me, but didn't expect my doc to do shots every 4 weeks. I won't be able to see my new doc until 1/20 for the first time, so my levels will have crashed for about two-three weeks. I have a Rx for Androgel and can continue to use it as a bridge and am considering it as an option. ________________________________ From: on behalf of philip georgian Sent: Mon 12/27/2010 7:50 AM Subject: RE: Monthly injection you lost me if your Dr. is giving you shots every 4 weeks how are you going to get some Androgel. Guest guest
Yes you could then go back on the gel after a week to 10 days when you feel your self falling back.
