I have a question about taking the vitamins. I've been reading how everyone

is doing so well taking the vitamin supplements and how you are no longer

taking the hormone replacement. Well, I was wondering how long it usually

takes before you can quit taking everything. I don't want to take hormone

replacement for the rest of my life, but I also don't want to take 20

different vitamins forever either. Is there a stopping point to it all?

Hello Kandee!

I was introduced to herbs and supplements over 20 years ago.

That was my first

experience with Iridology. Passion Flower was recommended

to me for edema. And

it works. But what may work for me may not work for you.

You may need more or

less than I do. I take one capsule with breakfast and one

at dinner. That is a

Nature's Sunshine Product and is Passiflora incanata [Latin

name] 360 mg [5.56

grains]. Some other products at a health food store may not

work as well. If

you need information on how to find Nature's Sunshine, I can

provide that

information.

This is an experimental group and at this point we don't know much

about how long it might be necessary (or advisable) to continue taking

supplements. I grew up taking One-A-Day vitamins and have taken supplements

pretty regularly for the past 30 years. It doesn't bother me to do that and

if it gives me a health advantage (which I think it does), and I'm content to

continue.

Most people who recover from a thyroid condition are so happy to have

recovered that they don't want to mess around and risk a revisit of the

problem. I think your desire to stop taking supplements is good, however,

and hopefully some people will explore that.

I've been thinking about stopping completely to see what happens.

We'll see if I get up the courage.

I figure the worst case is that you may live in an area where certain

minerals are deficient in the soil or you may have some inability to absorb

these nutrients from your food. In this case you will probably have to

continue supplementation, but you may find that you'll be able to go weeks or

months without taking supplements.

The best case will probably be that you'll either have to modify your

diet to get more of these nutrients on a regular basis, or supplement

occassionally with a few of the minerals. Many of the studies which have

been done on animals like cattle indicate that the ranchers regularly

supplement their livestock with oral doses or injections of certain trace

minerals which they have determined are deficient in that area.

That leads me to believe that we will also find it essential to

supplement the minerals which are deficient in our foods in order to maintain

optimum health.

When to quit is something you'll know for yourself. As regards the white with a flattened end on one end if it was a tape worm it would more than likely have been fairly consistent and then it would also tend to look like a segment. You can check many locations on the net regarding tape worms to see if any of the pictures look like what you got out.

Hi all, Just wanted to say my colema board was well worth the money. Since starting, I have lost 25lbs. of old stuff and my husband 30. I feel better and better each time. We are both still getting rid of a lot of small old stuff. (no ropies). Two questions....first, how do we know when we are done for a while? When no more stuff stays in the strainer? Second, I seen a 3 inch thing that looked just like a worm, it was white with a flattened end on one end. Could it really have been a worm? The response was very interesting because I was wondering the same thing myself. I worry about that when my kids are here. I make sure if I do cut myself that they cannot come in contact with it. Thanks for sharing that with us.

You are most welcome, ~dz~

.. . . below is another article regarding HCV and how long:

Hepatitis C is very virulent (hard to kill). It remains infectious outside the host body for a minimum of 2 WEEKS and has been found to be alive and doing well in 50 year old tattoo ink. HIV remains infectious outside the host for only 2 hours in comparison. It should also be noted that as recently as August 1999 there were confirmed cases of patient to patient transmission through hemodialysis units. Just recently (June 2000) a laser-surgery eye clinic in the San , California area was found to be using the same blade for surgical incisions on patients without sterilizing them. They rinsed the blade off between patients using sterile water. It is alleged that some patients contracted Hepatitis C and HIV from this particular clinic. We can't stress enough how important it is for patients to insist that CDC guidelines be followed to inhibit viral transmission. Your life depends on it.

Terri, that's great news! I pray for a speedy recovery

for Mom and hope she can enjoy her new baby. I had my

son later in life (I was 36), so I don't expect a

grandbaby too soon, but my stepson was just married,

so we're waiting impatiently. That baby will have 3

grandpa's! Every child could use more granparents.

,

Thanks so much for the answer. They found I had it ten years ago, but didn't put me on prednisone until, six years ago. How does this group work, do you just throw a question out to anyone? Thanks you for your reply.

Kathleen,

Can you help me understand why and how AIH is a progressive disease, even

(but less so) with medication like prednisone and imuran?

Thanks,

I know we have talked before about the splenorenal shunt. As my protime and

platelet counts continue to worsen while still on Beta Blockers and all the

other meds I was wondering if you could give me an update on how you are

doing with the shunt. I go back to see Hepatologist the end of this month

and am going to press harder if this could be an option for me. We talked

about it before Beta Blockers that seemed to be working at first. Spleen has

now increased in 3 months time from 14 cm's to 19 cm's. Do you know how

large your spleen was when they started considering the procedure?

Thanks for any info.

==>Candida is not the only cause of floaters. When your rosacea started

1-1/2 years ago underlying health problems had been going on for a long

time before rosacea appeared. Have you even had any childhood

illnesses, colds, flu, etc. before rosacea? Those are all signs of a

depressed immune system. Were you always perfectly healthy before

rosacea?

Take the two weeks, add 10% for uncertainty, then triple the result to be in the

ballpark ;)

I have been suffering from recurring yeast infections for a little over a

month--no pill or other medicine will get rid of it.

, have you been checked for diabetes? I had a " yeast " problem for over

a year before I was diagnosed as a diabetic. A year of pure hell. It took a

woman PA to tell me what was wrong with me and she did it with no tests

until *after* she told me what was wrong with me. Sylvia

Dr Skip answered this question yesterday or the day before. He

recommended at least 5 days after being on opiate based painkillers.

If you started out on a dose of 5 a day, you may need more.  You should have

felt the benefits right away (in a day or two) because gel gets in your blood

quickly.  Call the doc and ask if you can jump to 7.5 a day.

Here read this file I made about gels.

====================================================

Starting on Androgel or Testim.

Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain

sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops

sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were

making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel

your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel.

Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is

what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150.

The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the

first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and

you fall back.

Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you

need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far

as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread

it over the area but don't rub it in.

The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If

you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams

don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots.

I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up

feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5

grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the

use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen

and test them again in 2 weeks.

When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then

put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you

can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on

the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later.

Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell

back.
