Guest guest
Hi ! Endos have a reputation of being the most arrogant, impersonable docs and it goes with the nature of their profession. The people who specialize in that love to look at numbers and analyze data and go completely " by the book. " In contrast, pediatricians tend to be much more sociable and to look at the actual patient. Also, diabetes is now an epidemic, so that's what most endos spend their time with. Hormones like thyroid or testosterone? Good luck. Knowing this, and being hypothyroid myself from Graves' and RAI and having dealt with endos, I knew it would be a battle to deal with an endo. So I work with a primary D.O. who is incredibly open-minded and tests for anything I ask for, if I can justify it. I got the DO to test DH's FT3 for thyroid and when it was at the bottom of the range, he wanted to refer us to an endo. I believe it was Oct and the first available endo appt was in Feb. Since that would be cruel to make him wait 4 months to even start meds, I asked for a " trial therapeutic dose " of thyroid hormone, and those were the magic medical words that got us a prescription. How do most of the people here get someone to help them with this? I cant believe drs arent educated on this. I will try and ask my family dr tomorrow If he will test his estradiol levels before he starts the androgel... but i dont know what we will do after that. Guest guest
Oops, didn't quite finish the story. Got the same DO to test his testosterone and that was low too, so doc consulted with an endo by phone who agreed that DH's labs were low enough to warrant treatment. He then prescribed the testosterone (compounded cream at my request, then TC shots later). I tell him I want to test his estradiol, DHEA-S, free and total testosterone, Free T3, reverse T3, Free T4, and he obliges! > > > > Phil, > > I spoke with my husbands dr. who is an endo and i dont think she knows about this stuff reguarding estradiol levels and i dont think that she liked me telling her about it. ly, i dont think i will have much luck getting a drs help with this... > > This is the 2nd endo weve gone to so far. Guest guest
, I had a similar problem. I had 2 different Endos that were not good at treating low T and 2 GPs that didn't want to treat low T. I made the decision to pay the money to see Dr. Crisler in Lansing MI. $500 plus travel costs is what it will cost you, so it isn't an inexpensive option. I decided that I could waste more time and money on co-pays for doctors in my area, or I could go to someone that is an expert in treating low T. I went with the latter. I had my first appointment with him about 10 days ago and just did my first labs yesterday. I believe that I will now get the treatment I need without having to educate and/or fight with a doctor that doesn't know how to treat the problem. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of mysticgrl77 Sent: Friday, August 06, 2010 4:31 AM Subject: Ques/dilemma Phil, I spoke with my husbands dr. who is an endo and i dont think she knows about this stuff reguarding estradiol levels and i dont think that she liked me telling her about it. ly, i dont think i will have much luck getting a drs help with this... Guest guest
Yes we do it's a big problem Dr.'s think Estradiol is a women's problem but if you show his family Dr. these links it might help. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm Endos are not good Dr.'s for this problem see if your Family Dr. will work with Dr. over the phone to test and treat him. www.allthingsmale.com Or buy the test for this link. http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/ItemLC004515/Estradiol-Blood-Test.html And if he is high get some Indolplex/DIM it's a supplement sold OTC if he is not to high this works. ==================================================== ALL ABOUT DIM. Sure here is a few links that are all about it. But there are a lot of Co.'s out there selling DIM that don't work well. Indolplex/DIM is the best it dose not get killed in your stomach when you take it. Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a stable indole found in cruciferous vegetables which promotes a beneficial estrogen metabolism in both women and men. http://www.dimfaq.com/index.htm in this link it's full of links about it. http://qualitycounts.com/fpdim.html http://www.jbc.org/content/278/23/21136.full If you have DIM in caps it's not Indolplex so to take this and to get it to work open the cap pore the DIM into a spoon add some Olive oil and take it this helps to keep it from getting killed in your stomach. The following is some links to where you can buy Indolplex/DIM. http://www.vitaglo.com/e5336.html http://www.vitacost.com/EnzymaticTherapyEstroBalancewithDIM/searchby-PN/searchte\ xt-dim http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Pure-Rip-with-DIM-60-Tablets/12814?at=0 http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Pure-Rip-with-DIM-60-Tablets/12814?at=0 http://www.estrobalance.net/ http://www.easyhealthzone.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=PP0108 & click=71 http://www.nbizz.com/longevityclinic/listings/213.html http://www.drugnatural.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD & Store_Code=DMOS & Product_\ Code=156497 http://www.smartbomb.com/itindo9.html?utm_source=mercent & utm_medium=shopcompare & \ utm_content=itindo9 & utm_campaign=mbsdb & mr:trackingCode=C6AEFBD1-E681-DE11-B7F3-0\ 019B9C043EB & mr:referralID=NA http://www.ritecare.com/cgi-bin/cart.pl?db=product_db.dat & category=natural+medic\ ine & method=any_words & search=iti-75336 http://www.naturamart.com/phytopharmica-pms-formula-with-indoplex-120-caps.html How to take Indolplex/DIM take one tablet 120 mgs at dinner time it can take 2 weeks to 2 months to get your Estradiol levels down it’s all about how high you are in your levels. What you need to do is get this down to about 20 pg/ml. When you get this low your night time and morning wood will come back so strong it will wake you up this means most of the time your at your best levels or what I call the sweet spot. Keep taking the DIM but if your wood stops your going down to low so just stop taking it. The day your wood comes back go back on the DIM but cut the tablet in half. If your Testosterone was tested and low but your not on TRT get it tested again you might find your levels came up some 200 to 300 points. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 Co-Moderator Phil > From: mysticgrl77 <mystic_pizza7@...> > Subject: Ques/dilemma > > Date: Friday, August 6, 2010, 6:30 AM > Phil, > I spoke with my husbands dr. who is an endo and i dont > think she knows about this stuff reguarding estradiol levels > and i dont think that she liked me telling her about it. > ly, i dont think i will have much luck getting a drs > help with this... > This is the 2nd endo weve gone to so far. Guest guest
There is only one thing you can do see if some one in your area knows a good Dr. Endo's are not good for low T. Or call a Compounding Pharmacy for the name and number of any Dr.'s that buy from them and see one. But call first and ask questions read in the files section " How To Find a New Male Hormone Dr. " . http://www.collegepharmacy.com/menshealth/andropause.asp Co-Moderator Phil > From: Pryor <j.pryor@...> > Subject: RE: Ques/dilemma > " ' ' " < > > Date: Friday, August 6, 2010, 12:56 PM > My family dr said no to working with > dr john.
