Guest guest
I read this group daily, and I find a lot of good info here BTW,.....best thing I have found to date. What I am preparing for is what it seems that many, if not most of you seem to go through with their docs and insurance. I feel I will have no problem having my estrogen levels checked, nor a wider T test done that includes SHBG, but after that I just don't know. I am shocked at the number of tests that some of you have done, and the frequency that they are repeated. I have also noticed a couple of docs that input here, and that is very nice of them. Seems they are possibly the ones that don't take insurance though,.......maybe I am wrong? Once again, the number of tests they suggest is staggering to me. Seems like you fix one thing, and then something else gets out of whack and has to be corrected. Sounds like a never ending circle of tests and drugs. I guess what I am really wondering is how many of you have to pay for most of this stuff out of pocket, and roughly what it costs you on a monthly basis to have all of these blood tests done over and over, and for all of the meds and supplements you guys take!! Not being negative per se, just wanting to get an idea of what all of this might possibly cost me if my insurance won't cover it, or my doc won't order all of this stuff as recommended here. I realize I am getting ahead of my individual situation, but I always like to be prepared first.
Guest guest
If you go to the members list you will see a ton of members here the avg. guys feel better and don't post anymore Army guy is one of them. So the guys you see posting are in bad shape like myself or new. Most men don't need labs after they get tuned up but every 6 months some go a year. Don't let all this upset you you do what you can the best you can and go from there. Most men only need to get there Total T levels up into the upper 1/3 of there labs range and keep there E2 Estradiol levels in the sweet spot and this is it they feel dam good and stop posting. Guest guest
I do my tests every 6 months and my insurance only pays for my thyroid meds and my testosterone injection 10ml bottle usually is good for 6 months or so for me. But I pay for my HCG and other supplements like DIM, Zinc etc. I figured it to cost me about a $150 a month and 130 from my pocket but I think its worth instead of all painful communication with the insurance company. The only issue I still have is Estroidol. Looks like DIM doesnt work for me that great as I am Hypothyroid. Guest guest
Thank you Phil. Yeah. I should order it soon. Coming to posting information ..........yes. You are right. Many people use this group but do not post much. Sometimes I too feel guilty of not posting but with too many things going on I post messages once in a while. I hope everyone will take some time at least once in a while and post messages to this group so that others and newbes will benefit from our experiences like we did from others who posted previously. Thanks Joe > > > > > > I read this group daily, and I find a lot of good info > > here BTW,.....best thing I have found to date. > > > > > > What I am preparing for is what it seems that many, if > > not most of you seem to go through with their docs and > > insurance. > > > > > > I feel I will have no problem having my estrogen > > levels checked, nor a wider T test done that includes SHBG, > > but after that I just don't know. > > > I am shocked at the number of tests that some of you > > have done, and the frequency that they are repeated. > > > > > > I have also noticed a couple of docs that input here, > > and that is very nice of them. Guest guest
Well, I am a newbie that has received a lot of info, and I intend to keep reporting on what is taking place with me, and how things go after I get started on whatever I end up on. Just finished my last cardio related test this AM, and it was a waste as I figured. My cardiologist doc ordered a 'leg study' also due to the pain I have been having in my calves after any type of strenuous activity. I figured it was my low T and it appears to have been. The clinician siad that everything was fine in my legs as far as the vascular structure goes. They have you lay down on a table with BP cuffs on your arms, thighs, calves, ankles,.....and even a sensor on the big toe. They take BP readings, and then toss you on a treadmill at 3 mph/10 degree incline for 15 minutes. You lay down again quickly, and they check all of the readings again as well as use an ultrasound unit on different points in your legs. I know this is not T related, but thought some might be interested! I see him Tuesday at 6:00PM,......that is when I am going to give him those 2 codes for bloodwork, and go over my thoughts on all of this. I will also find out what my MRI showed if anything. This is a very helpful site IMHO.

Guest guest
Marc,......I am 48.5 heading to 49! I posted everything sometime ago but it has gone a number of pages back now I assume. Basically I feel exhausted all the time, and I have muscle and joint pains from what used to be the slightest things to me. Big loss in muscle strength, endurance, and am losing size as well. I am not a body-builder,....never have been, but I was always well built and very strong with defined muscles. Still get morning wood, but only a few days a week instead of everyday. I can still have sex, but I don't have any interest to be honest. It's not worth the hassle. My chest that was always fairly defined and flat is building a small amount of fat there. I hope I am not getting gyno!! Headaches, and visual disturbances combined with my last Total T of 209 is what caused the MRI to be done. The cardio related tests are simply what my doc does at intervals on me due to family history. My LH came back in the lower 1/3 of normal, and Phil said my pituitary should be dumping LH like crazy with a Total T of 209,.....I agree with him. Anyway,....I will be getting my E2 levels checked, as I suspect that might be my problem. If not I believe it is secondary from what I have read. Tuesday should tell me the results of the MRI, and get those next blood tests ordered. I have no idea at this point if I will be starting an estrogen blocker, TRT, or something else. I HAVE followed the advice her though, and am trying to find out the cause before I go on T in any form.

Guest guest
I really think you should bite the bullet and go see Dr . I know you don't want to be on TRT and I can't blame you. I don't to be on it either. Maybe Dr and get you going again without TRT. I remember you saying you don't want to fly there, but this is your health its more important than not wanting to go. Ill let you know how my visit goes. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Re: Question for those on TRT already Marc,......I am 48.5 heading to 49! Guest guest
Marc, my two cents worth.Been on TRT for about 9 mths and added HCG about 3 mths ago. What a difference in my quailty of life.I enjoyed sex but would choose a lot of other things over it.Not anymore.Another thing in jan 08 I weighed 260 on a good day.I am a little over 6'1 " .Began a diabetic diet, extrememly low carbs and high sat fat.Now low 190's and about 15 of that is fluid retention from TRT.Having very little body fat IMO helps a lot in keeping estrogen down.Nothing tastes better than being lean is my motto. You can get some expert guidance on this board (I;m not one) but TRT made me a man again.Oh, knocking on 55. Guest guest
I might have to be on TRT, I'm 26 and tried to cycle TRT with Nolvadex. I messed up my body. So I'm going to see Dr and see if he can help me. My T is pretty high, but I have many symptoms of Low T. While listening to Dr s lecture, he has seen peeps like me who have good natural levels of T but experience the same symptoms. I hope he can fix me up. Marc PS there are two Marc' s here. Guest guest
I will be waiting bigtime to see what you have to say about your visit. I don't have an issue going somewhere once, but I don't have the time to fly to see a doc on a regular basis. I don't know how he works things,......maybe you can tell me after your visit. In the interim, I am trying to use what I have learned here to lead my 'very cooperative' doc in the right direction on all of this. I could be wrong, but I think he will try whatever I say that makes sense to him. After I get the other blood tests, I will be posting them here, and looking for more advice on what i should do. I am open to about anything at this point. I have no idea if I need my testes kick started per se, or whether I am aromatizing T into estrogen too much and need to get that under control. Maybe in the end I need TRT,......so be it. If it makes me feel better again I don't care if it might cut my life expectancy by a few years. I don't want to live for another 30 years feeling this way and worse. I certainly wish you the best with your visit!

Guest guest
THX Marc. I hope everything works out for you too. Maybe you can have your Doc consult with Crisler. Then you don't have to fly there One more thing what type of Doc are you seeing right now? Like you, if I have to be on TRT for the rest of my life, ill do it. But I will explore all other avenues first. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Re: Question for those on TRT already I will be waiting bigtime to see what you have to say about your visit. Guest guest
Phil,......and there are two Phil's here as well! I am mainly trying to find out what my problem is before starting TRT in any form. I am NOT adverse to it by any means if I need it. I still get 'turned on' and get a woodie and have sex. It just isn't the same for me though. I used to be VERY active, and now I would just as soon go to sleep early when it is up to me. That has never been like me, but is only a small part of the issue. I work in a very physical trade, and I can hardly drag my rear into the house some days anymore. I need reasonable strength and endurance to do what I do, and it is leaving me rapidly. Not putting down body-builders by any means, but at my age I am not into that in the least. I always worked out, and was in great shape, but I don't have the energy anymore after working. I am not over weight either,.....at least not yet. About 6 feet tall, and 186 pounds. Only fat on me is an extra 5 pounds in the 'spare-tire' region, and a little building in my chest area. I am on the way to quitting my beer drinking totally, as i have read many articles about alcohol, and especially beer hops mimicking female hormones like soy does. Guest guest
Believe it or not my doc I speak of is a Cardiologist. My GP is a dolt that thinks I simply need to accept getting older, and what I have done for years is responsible for getting me here early. I saw a Urologist as well for a short bout of prostatitis and he wanted to simply start me on Testim with no further tests needed. He was simply looking at my Total T and nothing else. I tried to talk to him, and could tell he was simply wanting to prescribe Testim. I asked my cardiologist if he would handle this issue, and work with me,.......he said yes. I had no idea you were only 26 Marc,.....I feel real bad for you and wish you the best with this. I was prime until a year ago or so. > > > THX Marc. Guest guest
Its been rough for me for the past year. I made a mistake and I realize that and I am paying the price. My symptoms are ED (sometimes I can get a decent erection), libido is almost gone. My body has changed in composition. I put on lot of weight around my waist. I'm 6,1 and 230. At this weight I should be a 36 but I'm stilll 34 I got my latest bloodwork back. Ill post it later. I worry about going on TRT at such a young age. But I can't go on like this. Guest guest
Marc,.....I was 6'1 " when I was younger, but my bad back is shrinking me per se. the MOST I ever weighed at that height was 210, and I was solid muscle with even abdominal def to a degree. I wore a 32 " waist at that point. I am now wearing 33 " but it is not bad compared to a lot of other guys I know. I am very sorry to hear about what you may have done to yourself, but you don't really know if your BB activities were the cause for sure. Nature and genes plays some bad tricks on us at times. In your case for sure,....I think you are going to see the right person, and I hope to hear great things after your visit. A person your age should not have to go through this, but life is not always fair bud. Wishing you the best in all ways, and I hope that you will never do again what you did before. I don't understand all the BB talk but I assume that you dosed yourself with something. > > > > > > THX Marc. Guest guest
I was completely healthy and in the prime of my life and just got done losing 70 lbs. I wanted to do a cycle of steroids but wanted to get them legally. So I went to a TRt doc and got some compounded t cream took that for about a month, then bought Nolvadex from the internet. BBers use this to get natural T prod back. But I messed up and in turn messed me up. I went through a really bad depression and lost the girl of my dreams. Almost didn't want to live anymore. But I am fighting back now, going to see Crisler, I hope he can help me. Thank you for kinds words, it means a lot, I have no one to talk to about this. Guest guest
I had them tests after I had heart bypass sugary and my legs are fine yet I have a little loss of feeling in my feet. I now think it's from holding water. I am on to kinds of water pills the water is down and the feeling is back in my hands and feet. I just hope when I start back on HGH tomorrow I don't start holding water again. I am going back on it at half the dose I was taking .3mgs. will be doing .15 mgs.
