For Phil to answer if possible

To Phil or all,

I have posted to this group before many times in the past. My TRT has been going

well lately and I've felt great. My doc and I tried many different things but

finally settled on home injections of 400mg of T-Cyp every 4 weeks. It's

actually worked very well since at the end of 3 weeks my Total T has been

running 600-625 Sensitive E2 around 23 and Free T between 12-18. Anyway, I went

to give blood this morning and they said my iron was high. They couldn't tell me

the exact number because their equipment doesn't give a number. It just displays

HHH if you're iron is above 19% I believe she said. My doc checks my H and H

numbers about twice to three times per year and even though they've gone up some

they've never been above the labs range. My question is simple. Should I just be

giving blood every 8 weeks anyway to avoid polycythemia? I would seriously hate

to stop my TRT since I've never felt better in my life. This is some cause of

concern for me and I know that giving blood is safe and will reduce your H and H

numbers. I also know that keeping well hydrated is important and it's possible I

don't drink the types of stuff I need to to. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Wow when you started on shots is this how your Dr. started you at 400 mgs every

4 weeks this is very old and not good. It puts you on a roller coaster ride up

very high in all areas only to fall lower then the body likes by your next shot.

Even the AACE Guidelines say to do shots every 7 to 10 days.

http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf

Here is what happens you do this big shot and your Estradiol levels shoot way up

with your Total T levels and you could be peaking at a level over 2500 by the

3rd. day. This can also make your blood to thick and over stress your Adrenals

giving you low cortisol levels.

Are you on Iron pills if so before anyone checks this you need to be off them 5

days. Hi levels of T as far as I know don't make Iron levels go up.

You would do much better doing shots at 100 mgs every week or even 50 mgs 2x's a

week. Doing this will keep you more leveled and help keep your blood thinner.

Go to Dr. 's site and read TRT: A Recipe for Success and His HCG Update.

Well Phil, believe it or not, we started at 200mg every 10 days and my levels

kept crashing, sometimes as low as 150 for total T at the end. We then went to

400mg every 14 days and that seemed to keep the levels stable for at least

awhile then eventually came the crash. My doc researched it as much as she could

so we decided to try 400mg every 4 weeks and so far this has been going well. No

crash toward the end or anything. Maybe it's just me I don't know. I'm not

really sure how high my levels go after my shot but I would say it's quite high.

Luckily I can call my doc and make any adjustments I feel necessary based on how

I feel. Don't ask me why this seems to be working but it does. E2 doesn't seem

to go too high after the shot and within a few days is down to normal. No

problems with erections or orgasm either.

Do you think giving blood every 8 weeks is a good idea. Maybe my hemoglobin was

high which resulted in a high iron reading. I do not take iron supplements but

there is a chance I was somewhat dehydrated. I will speak with my doc about

maybe switching to 100mg a week cause we never tried that. If it makes me feel

better than I do now that would be amazing because honestly I feel like superman

right now.

Dam your feeling good on this it's not good that your blood is thicker and doing

them big shots can make blood thinker. Giving blood will lower our Ferritin and

Iron levels in time need to check this.

If I were you now that you said your levels would not come up on even 200 mgs

shots. I would try 50mgs every 3 days for your shots. I do my own into my

thigh using a small 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg needle not pain good levels. I do my

shots every 3 days because like you I eat up the T meds as fast as I take them.

I read about doing this from one of Dr. Shippen's men he said in a post that Dr.

Shippen dose this to his self. I do 80mgs every 3 days and I added HCG to the

mix this keeps my testis working and I feel better on it. Doing shots every 3

days keep you more leveled holds down your Estradiol and helps keep your blood

thinner.

Dr. Shippen did the book " The Testosterone Syndrome " . Talk to your Dr. about

doing this there are a lot of men doing shots this way.

Hey Phil,

Ok so my doc has agreed now to allow me to start doing 100mg a week of my T-Cyp.

Thing is she wants the dose at 400mg a month no matter how we have to go about

it. Any less than that has proven to cause my levels to fall below my labs range

after a time. Today I went to the lab for ferritin and a CBC to see if these

large shots have affected my blood viscosity. I will know this afternoon.

Try doing your Test C shots 2x's a week 50 mgs each time this will keep you more

leveled and hold down your Estradiol levels and help keep your blood thinner.

This will still be 400 mgs / month. If your levels don't come up high enough go

to every 3 days at 50 mgs this would = 125 mgs a week or 500/month. If your

labs are still low go up 10mgs / shot hold this 8 weeks do labs if still low go

higher. Some of us men eat up the T as fast as we take it. Ask about adding

HCG to your T shots do 250 IU's the day before each shot.
