Guest guest
TD preg can lower DHT levels in some people due to increase progesterone at cellular level. > > Hey Group, > > Does Saw Palmetto work for lowering DHT? Guest guest
No it is said to only lower DHT in the Prostate if you try this do a very low dose. I have read men doing a high dose getting messed up total loss of sex life. Guest guest
Phil Does your answer mean that it does not lower DHT as measured in the blood but is said to lower DHT if it were measured in the prostate itself? What is a low dose? I am on 360mg daily within my Prostate Complete 3 times per week http://health.nutralife.co.nz/Product.aspx?id=957 and 288mg 4 times per week from Prostate Manager http://www.thompsons.co.nz/afa.asp?idWebPage=8403 & ID=71 & SID=950225997 & Type=Produ\ cts plus up to another 40mg from a multi when I take that. Is that too much or not enough? Guest guest
lowers it with in the prostate receptors not in the serum. preg TD can lower it in the serum. > > > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@> > > > Subject: Saw Palmetto for DHT > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 9:47 PM > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > Does Saw Palmetto work for lowering DHT? Guest guest
Hi HAN From the sounds of that one could theoretically have low DHT in the receptors but still be measuring high in the serum. So if that was the case would this scenario be a protective one or antagonistic. What is an accepted dose for general protection, a little insurance if you like? Kind regards Wayne > > > > > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@> > > > > Subject: Saw Palmetto for DHT > > > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 9:47 PM > > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > > > Does Saw Palmetto work for lowering DHT? Guest guest
I like to deal with things at the source. Instead using nettles and pygeum with zinc is better combination. > > > > > > > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@> > > > > > Subject: Saw Palmetto for DHT > > > > > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 9:47 PM > > > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > > > > > Does Saw Palmetto work for lowering DHT? Guest guest
Wayne, At best I think I took about 350 mgs your taking over 7 grams unless I read this wrong. I have talked to men that did very strong amounts of SP and ended up with Hormone prboblems much like the men taking Propecia (finasteride). Here is a link to there site. http://www.propeciasideeffects.com/ I had BPH for yrs one bladder infection after the other even had surgery on it to help me void the was a big mistake. Taking SP never help with my BPH problems. I later found out my problems were from high levels of Esaradiol. http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm Getting this down my BPH got better. You can't find much good info about DHT everytime one does a search you get add's about hair loss. Here is one good link I found about DHT. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/reform8.htm http://www.ugm.org.uk/topic/12591-article-on-dihydrotestosterone/ Co-Moderator Phil > From: gcaussieman <gcaussieman@...> > Subject: Re: Saw Palmetto for DHT > > Date: Thursday, January 20, 2011, 5:30 PM > Phil > Does your answer mean that it does not lower DHT as > measured in the blood but is said to lower DHT if it were > measured in the prostate itself? > What is a low dose? > I am on 360mg daily within my Prostate Complete 3 times per > week http://health.nutralife.co.nz/Product.aspx?id=957 > and 288mg 4 times per week from Prostate Manager > http://www.thompsons.co.nz/afa.asp?idWebPage=8403 & ID=71 & SID=950225997 & Type=Produ\ cts > > plus up to another 40mg from a multi when I take that. > Is that too much or not enough? > Wayne > > > > > > > From: Rouse > <michael.hugh.rouse@...> > > > Subject: Saw Palmetto for DHT > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 9:47 PM > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > Does Saw Palmetto work for lowering DHT? Guest guest
I read taking saw palmetto increases your estradiol. This is because you block the testosterone to DHT pathway, which then only leaves the estradiol pathway. Progesterone is also supposed to be a DHT inhibitor, but that may also be why it raises estradiol in some. Guest guest
Phil I have very low e2. Got the estradiol sensitive test from labcorp and got 8 pg/ml. As I've mentioned before this is probably due to steroid use of two weeks. I have been on DHEA with some success but still struggle in the erection department. Could something like saw palmetto benefit someone like me? You mentioned it does mess up some peoples sex lives. I will be getting another sensitive e2 test done and am currently in search of a local doctor that knows what they as doing. Guest guest
Hi HAN I am also taking zinc 30 or 76 mgs EOD pyegum stem bark 500mg P/D Urtica dioica Nettle root EXTRACT 282mg P/D Urtica dioica Nettle root 300 to sometimes 800mgs P/D selenium 25mcg 3x P/W and 150mcg 4 x P/W sometimes another 100mcg in multi Does this seem reasonable? Guest guest
Phil I think tou may have misread ''per week'' as per day. So absolute maximum per DAY is 400mg Does that seem about right for a daily dose? Thanks for the links. Yes I am aware of the propecia problem which is a shame as I could do with some help in that area. Guest guest
Thank you Barb Well, this adds a new dimension and is something I will have to think about. Seems like it still might be right to use to gain its benefits but maybe only if estradiol is under control somehow. Guest guest
You need to talk to your Dr. about getting your E2 levels back up what is your SHBG if this is very low you need to check your sugar levels. Things that make my E2 levels go very high that is not TRT are DHEA 50 mgs 2x's per day, Going on Prog.cream or taking Preg. pills under my tongue. Guest guest
OK I will bear that in mind for future. The daily doses were different which was the reason. Maybe I should have said between 288 to 400mgs P/D I don't have BPH I take this as a precaution for the prostate overall. Guest guest
Well after all I have been through in my life all 67 yrs. I don't take anything unless I need it. Precaution can be a bad thing. There is just a mess of stuff out there that states DHT is bad for the Prostate but if this were true then why don't all me with higher levels of DHT have Prostate problems and we are many.
