Guest guest
This happens on a starting dose of Androgel you don't need to see an Endo all you need is to go up on the dose to say 7.5 or 10 grams. When you brain sees the added T in your blood it slows down sending the LH and FSH messages to your testis so they stop makeing your base levels and all your left with is what the gel is doing and in your case all it's doing is less then your testis were doing. Call your Dr. tell him all you need is a higher dose stay on this dose for 8 weeks and then redo you labs. Endo's are not good Dr.'s for low T have your Family Dr. read this at Dr. 's site he puts this out there free for you and your Dr. www.allthingsmale.com Read TRT: A Recipe for success and his HCG update this is one of the best male hormone Dr.'s out there. Guest guest
Give it some time. I started on 4 pumps per day and this helped my levels go from 300 to 400 in one month. My levels also dropped back some to 350 so my doctor raised me to 6 pumps per day. After a month this also did not show much increase. I then went to 8 pumps per day.  During this same time I went on a diet and lost 25 pounds. My levels have now gone to 950. My doctor says it may be just the length of time I have been on it that has increased my levels along with less body fat allowing for better absorbtion. I am now swithching back to 6 pumps per day and will do blood work again in 1 month. I have much more energy, do not fall asleepafter supper, and better moods. Get with your doctor to discuss your dosage. It can take some time to find your right doasge. From: krisandarcy <krisandarcy@...> Subject: Stopping Androgel Date: Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 1:43 PM  Regular bloodwork back in October revealed I had low test (can't recall the exact #'s but somewhere around the low 200 mark) so my Dr. gave me an RX for Androgel (5g/4-pumps) . Felt great for a little over a week, then crashed. Just went and had my bloodwork done and my test is actually now lower than it was pre-androgel. Guest guest
The Dr ordered a more complete set of tests and I have an appointment with an edno in a couple weeks. My test levels went from 226 before the gel to 152 after 8 weeks of use. When the dosage is upped, is it beneficial to split the dose between AM & PM? Some sides Ive noticed at my current dose is I fall asleep at the office around 11 am and right after dinner. Also night sweats have been increasing > > Give it some time. > > > > > From: krisandarcy <krisandarcy@...> > Subject: Stopping Androgel > > Date: Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 1:43 PM > > >  > > > > Regular bloodwork back in October revealed I had low test (can't recall the exact #'s but somewhere around the low 200 mark) so my Dr. gave me an RX for Androgel (5g/4-pumps) . Guest guest
Men on Gels need to know about this if you put the gel on and do labs in less then 6 hrs you can spike up your labs your Dr. sees this lowers your dose and you feel bad again. So take a good shower make sure you wash off the old gel. Then go to your labs in the morning and put on the gel after the blood draw. Now if you can't do this take a shower put on the gel but keep the gel away from the spot they take the blood from and do this test after 4 to 6 hrs. It's rare I see labs over 700 on 10 grams of gel. Guest guest
First let me tell you Dr.'s think Endo's are Specialists for Hormones they are not all they are good for is sugar problems they are not even good at Thyroid problems. I have seen 7 of them in the last 27 yrs and they made me worse then my family Dr. was doing. The last one I was sent to see I called them and asked questions by this time I was up on TRT. I asked if the Dr. treats a lot of men for low T and dose he test for high levels of estradiol. If a man is Secondary and has a pituitary problem will the Dr. treat with HCG. If a man has high levels of Estradiol will he treat this with Arimidex. The women on the phone the Dr.'s aid said Yes to all. When I see him he would not look at my labs told me some bull they were no good. He then told me I need to stop my T meds and come in his labs and get a base line set of labs. Well I have been down this road with Endo's 6 other times. So I ask him how many men dose he treat for low T he said I was his first but it's not a big deal. I asked do your test for high Estradiol levels he said this is not a problem men have. I got up and told him I called his office and was told you see a lot of men for this problem and that you test and treat men for high levels of Estradiol. I told me don't send me a bill I have a copy of what his office told me on the phone and left. I never got a bill from him and I was told my first visit would cost me $250.00. I cant tell you how many times I have heard this story on the forums all over the place about seeing Endo's. I have had me post that there Endo told them they don't need TRT there levels are on the normal range. Well them men were in range but at the bottom and it would be normal if they were 100 yrs. old. You don't want to do your gels 2x's a day what your problem is is the gel is not getting though your skin and what is getting through is enough to stop your testis from making the base levels you had before going on the gel. When your brain sees this added T in your blood it stops sending the LH and FSH from your brain to your testis and all your left with is what the gel is doing. And if you feel hot it's your Estradiol levels that might be to high high levels holds down the good adding T dose. Put half the dose after a shower and your dry on one side then the other half on the other side. Spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as your can reach. Don't rub it in well just spread it around and let it dry from wet. After your dose is upped hold this for 8 weeks and then do labs if your levels are not up over 600 switch to shots starting with 100 mgs per week have your Dr. show you how to do them your self. I use a small 27g 1ml. x 1/2 " lg. needle and shoot into my thigh. The oil comes out slow so I just pull the plunger all the way down and hold it until I get my dose. http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm Co-Moderator Phil > From: krisandarcy <krisandarcy@...> > Subject: Re: Stopping Androgel > > Date: Friday, December 18, 2009, 9:11 AM > The Dr ordered a more complete set of > tests and I have an appointment with an edno in a couple > weeks. Guest guest
If taking that med to lower your prolactin levels dose not work I feel your Hypopituitary and need more testing like an ACTH Stim. test and a 4x's in a day Cortisol Saliva test, Ferritin, Free T3 and such. I am Hypoituitary and my MRI was clean I have this problem due to a head injury from an auto accident. Took me 23 yrs and the help of Dr. on the forums to figure this out. Your LH and FSH are low for his low Testosterone levels. Guest guest
That is not a good idea the body likes to be regular and when your levels start to fall it will going taking from other hormones like GH and cortisol even Thyroid to try to fix the lowering levels. Guest guest
Androgel seems to be working just fine for you. I would not change meds simply because there was a suggestion from this doc. What is the basis of the suggestion? Subjectively you report feeling fine.... actually better then many. You might want to get a few more tests to see where you stand with DHT and SHBG. Perhaps you could increase the Androgel dose slightly to trial if further improvements are felt. This would be the time to add in hCG if not already doing so.... perhaps that should be your first consideration. > > > > > > If taking that med to lower your prolactin levels dose not work I feel > > your Hypopituitary and need more testing like an ACTH Stim. test and a > > 4x's in a day Cortisol Saliva test, Ferritin, Free T3 and such.
