Guest guest
In order for zinc to work you first have to get a good form and then you must have proper metabolism and bioavailabity of the mineral in order for it to function. I was taking 50-100 mgs of zinc a day still being deficient for years. It was not untill I corrected other factors till I started absorbing it and utilizes it. > > Hey Group, > > My doc told me the protocol for using Zinc to lower estrogen but I forgot > what it is exactly. Guest guest
There are two diff. ways Dr.s tell men to do this Dr. Shippen says take 50 mgs of Zinc with 2 mgs of Copper 2x's a day to start for the first month the drop down to one x / day. You need copper with Zinc because it lowers copper. Dr. says the same thing they both feel you need to take them both at the same time. I was doing this for a long time. http://www.myvitanet.com/zincop100cnt.html Then one day I was talking to Hard about this he said one needs to take them apart so I do 2 mgs of copper at noon and I do ZMA NOW brand at bed time. I like the ZMA better. Guest guest
Phil, Thanks for the reply. Does Zinc reduce cortisol at all? I thought that I read somewhere that people with adrenal fatigue who are on HC shouldn't take zinc. Can you please clarify? Guest guest
It never lowed my HC meds I don't think zinc will do this if your low on it and need it. Guest guest
I believe zinc can lower your own signalling to the adrenals. This makes zinc worth considering at night for those with high cortisol at that time, for example. Those with weak adrenals that are receiving relentless whipping from the pituitary just to provide the body with a little cortisol may feel worse taking zinc. I'm on HC and don't notice low cortisol from zinc provided I'm not late for another dose or due for some extra HC. So if I'm not out of whatever cortisol I took from a pill earlier and trying to beat on my adrenals for help I'm okay with zinc. Even then, if the zinc lowers my cortisol I just take more HC. I think zinc is overlooked when estrogen is high. I take less anastrozole if I take more zinc. I believe I've had chronic zinc deficiency for a long time and that it contributed to major estrogen excess issues. I'll just throw this out there, but I tried zinc in the past and found myself worse on it. I'd get depressed, loose motivation to do ANYTHING whatsoever and my colour vision would start turning to greyscale. The only solution was to stop zinc. I thought I was the only one to get strange effects till I read others reporting issues on zinc. Anyway, something else might be going on, especially if you have reason to suspect zinc is low, yet taking it makes you feel worse in some way. I found out taking active B6 (P5P) negates this tendency. Obviously I'm deficient in both. -Nigel > > Phil, > > Thanks for the reply. Does Zinc reduce cortisol at all? Guest guest
take zinc picolate at night then copper at lunch. There are conflicting theories, but from more and more I read seperate minerals is the way to get maxium absorption. Phil was taking the zinc with 2 mgs copper formula and was copper deficieny. It was not untill he seperated the 2 that he was able to correct deficiency. > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@...> > > Subject: Zinc protocol to reduce estrogen > > > > Date: Thursday, January 13, 2011, 11:38 PM > > Hey Group, > > > > My doc told me the protocol for using Zinc to lower > > estrogen but I forgot > > what it is exactly. Guest guest
Need to do more research nigel..Zinc can modulate and stimulate cortisol cascade. When in proper combination with other nutrients it canse start the adrenal cascade. > > > > Phil, > > > > Thanks for the reply. Does Zinc reduce cortisol at all? Guest guest
I took Zinc and it definitely did something to my cortisol because all of my symptoms of adrenal fatigue returned - brain fog, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, etc... I also ran a google search and most of the articles I read stated that zinc effectively lowers cortisol, so it looks like it is not good for someone with unstable adrenal glands. Oh well, live and learn I guess. So, I guess I'll just have to stick with the DIM and hope that gets my E2 down. Guest guest
Well I can't say I was on Zinc long before I went on HC meds no problems. Hard might know some thing about this. Guest guest
Zinc is not a good fix for higher levels of Estradiol so don't feel bad. I just tell men to try Zinc with Copper that are not real high in E2 levels. It helps but not all that much. Guest guest
zinc can stimualte thyroid production by helping to balance rt3 which may be reving up metabolism stressing the adrenals. It can also increase melatonin which can cause cortisol to go low as well. My suggestion start at 15 mgs a night and then increase over a week period to 30 mgs. Start slow and work up. I think people have so many things going on that it is almost impossible to isolate something such as this. > > > > > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@> > > > > Subject: Zinc protocol to reduce estrogen > > > > < %40> > > > > Date: Thursday, January 13, 2011, 11:38 PM > > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > > > My doc told me the protocol for using Zinc to lower > > > > estrogen but I forgot > > > > what it is exactly. Guest guest
Thanks guys for the information. I think I'll have to just stick with the DIM for now. Frustrating though as I can't take arimidex or zinc to lower estrogen, which is very high for me right now. Thanks again, Mike On Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 9:59 AM, hardasnails1973 < hardasnails1973@...> wrote: > > > zinc can stimualte thyroid production by helping to balance rt3 which may > be reving up metabolism stressing the adrenals.
