Guest guest
I am so sorry your going through this but seeing an Endo is not going to help you find out why your low they are not good Dr.'s for this. You were on Testim 30 days now going on any kind of Testosteone will shut or slow your brain down from sending the LH and FSH messages to your Testis to make more T so they stop working. You have done this all ready so your best bet is to go back on it and go back to this Dr. tell him you can't afford the cost of this and get on shots do them your self starting with 100 mgs / week doing them into your thigh have your Dr. show you how to do the and read the link I will put at the end of this post. Here is what happens when you start on a starting dose of Androgle or Testim your brain sees the T in your blood and slows down telling your testis to make T. So if your levels were say 350 base line and you go on 5 grams a low dose your brain sees the T and slows down sending the LH and FSH messages to your Testis stop making your base line level. Now this low dose of gel might only get your levels up to 300 so you feel bad again. Most men start on 5 grams of gel and should get tested again in 2 weeks to see if they need more. So go back on this if your Dr. will give you a script for shots if not and he can't keep you supplied in gel don't go back on it all your doing is starting then stopping and crashing this is worse then none at all. The Cost of shots if you do them your self I feel is less then $120.00 and will last you 19 weeks much less money the gels. I use a 27g 1ml X 1/2 " lg. needle and shoot into my thigh no pain been doing this for yrs and I have great labs. It's hard to get the oil out of the vial so I just pull the plunger all the way down and hold it until I have my dose. If you get this your dose will be .5mls or 100mgs to start hold this for a few months then do labs again. http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm The following it a file I made on Gels. As for finding out why your low it's a bit late you started on the gel and was on it 30 days now your off it and I am betting your levels are now lower then when you started. Most men I know have Adrenal Fatigue due to having low Testosterone the low T stress's there Adrenals and they end up with low Cortisol levels. So what came first the chicken or the egg. Later when you working and have the money there are some tests you can so to tell if your Seconday meaning your Pituitary does not work right or your Primary meaning your Testis don't work right. For now I would get on TRT. =================================================== Starting on Androgel or Testim. Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel. Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150. The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and you fall back. Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread it over the area but don't rub it in. The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots. I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5 grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen and test them again in 2 weeks. When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later. Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell back. Guest guest
I get this all the time Endos are good Dr.'s for diabetes. Most family Dr.'s don't know this if you do a search on the word ENDOCRINOLOGISTS. http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf Here is a cut and paste from this link. http://www.hormone.org/public/endocrinologist.cfm In the yrs. I have talked to men seeing one and my own times seeing 7 of them they don't know about male hormones. One Dr. told me they get about 1 day on this subject in school. http://www.hormone.org/public/endocrinologist.cfm So just by what they are called family Dr.'s think they know all there is to know. The above link I showed to the last Endo I seen and he told me he never heard of this the guidelines. You will need to do what we all have done look for a Dr. up on this any Dr. that treats a lot of men for this problem should be good. In the files section at the home page on the left you can read a file " Finding a New Male Hormone Dr. " this will help you also call some Compounding Pharmacy and ask for the name and number of Dr.'s that order from them for Compounded Testosterone Cream this works they will help you find a Dr. in your area. But call ask questions like how many men does he treat, dose he test to see why one is low, will he check for high Estradiol and treat it with Arimidex and dose he use HCG for men that are Secondary. ================================================ What do endocrinologists do? Endocrinologists are trained to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in your system. They take care of many conditions including: diabetes thyroid diseases metabolic disorders over or under production of hormones menopause osteoporosis hypertension cholesterol (lipid) disorders infertility lack of growth (short stature) cancers of the endocrine glands Co-Moderator Phil > From: michaelgarin123 <no_reply > > Subject: Re: 34 with lowT - should I use my testim gel as a short boost? > > Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 7:53 PM > Hi Phil > > If Endo's aren't going to do a good job what do I do to be > diagnosed and treated? > > > > > > > > > From: michaelgarin123 <no_reply > > > > Subject: 34 with lowT - should I > use my testim gel as a short boost? > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 12:46 AM > > > Hi > > > > > > My question keeps getting long though I'm trying > to sum it > > > up so I will put the direct question without the > other > > > details up here first. > > > > > > Can I use testim gel for a few days on here and > there as a > > > bit of a little boost to help me out. Guest guest
Thanks Phil. You are awesome! You sure put in a lot of time to help people. I don't know why I didn't see the files and such on the left. This is my first group. I've done so much reading and learned so much tonight. When I clicked the link you sent for the post to read it took me to my email home?? Do you have any literature you could recommend for learning about how testosterone therapy can lead to dependence on it and shutting down normal production? Guest guest
This is a good one a little hard to understand if your not a Dr. but if you open the charts in this link you will see men's LH and FSH levels going way down to ..5 or .6 on TRT this is the message sent to your Testis from your brain that tells your Testis make T this is why I tell men find out why your low before going on TRT. http://intl-ajpendo.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/281/6/E1172#T2 In this link if I did not give it to you is all about low Testosterone and how Estradiol mess's with men. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html Going on TRT is about the same as a body builder going on Steroids they Cycle there Steroids so they don't shut down and stay that way you can go on a low dose gel 5 grams a day and be shut down in 10 days.
