Guest guest
There's one symptom I don't like, it's my blurry vision, or the feeling that something is " on " my eye. I also have more red veins showing in my eyes now. This change started in December and I don't like it. I checked for glaucoma and other eye-diseases in January, but the result was that I don't have any eye diseases.  Glenn, thanks. I know I should be eating like a diabetic, and I try to! I quit ALL sugar (white sugar, brown sugar, etc.) the day before Chistmas eve. I know I also should be limiting or quitting all diary, cause milk and yoghurt and stuff's got milk sugar in them.  I did borrow my mom's glucose-meter and measured glucose like 6 times daily. But at one point, I think my fingers started hurting so badly that I got low cortisol from doing it so often. Now I kinda just do it when I feel bad to check if it's not high glucose doing it to me. I did eat 1/2 gluten-free pizza and some ice cream the day before that, 2 weeks ago and my glucose 3 hours after the meal was 15 which is instanely high. So I decided: NO MORE " PARTYING " WITH CARB-FOODS! (Like gluten-free pizza, ice cream etc.) In the past 2 weeks I really have been eating pure meats, salad, tiny pieces of fruits every other day. from the other kinda scared me with fruits being a NO-NO, so I quit fruits, but soon after, couldn't stay away from it, so I started eating small pieces and mostly after meals so not my glucose would go too much up after eating JUST the fruit.  I also feel like if I quit all fruit, I will not get any fruit and that's an important food group. That being said, diabetics don't eat fruit do they?  I must remove the " car tire " I have around my waist..... :-(  > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Gibcast <gibcast@...> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: My many > E2 > > results: > > > > Arimidex > > > > > > > > > or not? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Friday, January 28, 2011, > 2:08 > > PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Ok, let's look at my E2 results > from > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > November til today, all blood was > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > drawn at 11 am, fasting, only with > HC > > taken > > > > before > > > > > > > > > the > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > blood draw: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Lab 1 (Norway): > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 18th of November 2010: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 0.11 (<0.18) - NOTE: Seems > fine! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Lab 3 (Belgium): > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 18th of December 2010: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > E2: 69 pg/mL (<30 pg/mL) - > NOTE: > > This is > > > > suddenly > > > > > > > > > very, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > very high! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Lab 1 (Norway): > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 13th of January 2011: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > E2: 0.08 (<0.18 nmol/l) - NOTE: > I > > did > > > this > > > > test to > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > " confirm " my E2 was high as in > the > > previous > > > test > > > > > > > > > above, but > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > the result was NORMAL. Guest guest
, I get it. You have high glucose after eating, so you're avoiding carbs. There's no need to ingest still more carbohydrates if you've already got too much in the blood. However, the high glucose is not good I believe Val controls her diabetes in part by eating very low carb. That would include the elimination of fruits, many of which are loaded with carbs that will spike a diabetic's blood sugar very high. I'm sure you can find plenty of nutrients in food without eating high carb fruits or even relying on grains much. Diabetics CAN eat foods like fruit or complex carbs like brown rice. However, more carbs require more insulin and more insulin can cause more weight gain and the more fat you have on your body the more insulin you need. See where that's headed? I suggest you discuss your low in-range sodium and potassium levels with Dr H. Perhaps he'll test your aldosterone too. Low potassium can disregulate glucose and insulin. I'm aware of low potassium worsening insulin resistance. Val knows a LOT about this too. It was her findings on potassium that led me to further investigate things and realise my low in-range levels were way too low. So do ask her help on this. -Nigel On 1 February 2011 15:44, Gibcast <gibcast@...> wrote: > > > So the most important thing is so have an in-range (4 - 6 mmol/l) glucose > FASTING right? Guest guest
GP is closed at midnight, sorry! But only 4-5 days ago, my fasting morning glucose was 3.8 (range: 4.0 - 6.0 mmol/l) so it can't be HIGH blood sugar can it. It needs to be high all the time for a person to become blind, right? Â I don't have any more strips left but I will buy some tomorrow and test my blood sugar 3 hours after eating, right before my next meal. Any idea what blood sugar must be like 3 hours after eating? 2 weeks ago, like I said, it was very high. Â I tested it 2 days ago about 1 hour after eating and it was 8, which is not too bad, I think. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Gibcast <gibcast@...> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: My many > E2 > > results: > > > > Arimidex > > > > > > > > > or not? Guest guest
If I avoid fruit, which would be the main source of carbs (haha I just ate a kiwi to get potassium!) wouldn't I be safe then?  I hear if blood sugar is above 15 mmol/l, one must measure ketons in the urine to check if one has got a diabetic ketosis. Which can be deadly. I guess I am in the dangerzone. Is it HC giving me diabetes? Or the fact that I have not been woring out or moving much for 3 years now? Or diet? Or all combined?  I am very scared now... :-( The blurry vision, and the extreme sleepiness that comes to me every now and then, plus naucea and also my lack of wanting to eat food in the past few days.. All got me worried! :-( I also have a dry mouth and feel strange in my head, eyes and the entire body! :-(  Hmmm, what should I do? Just go to bed? I don't have any more of those strips to measure glucose now! > > > So the most important thing is so have an in-range (4 - 6 mmol/l) glucose > FASTING right? In the morning after a nights sleep? >
Guest guest
Can't tell you exactly what to do I can tell you what I do a couple of handfuls of dry roasted peanuts will lower your sugar so will about 4oz of the cheapest rot gut red wine but not everything works on all people. Exercise (not my cuppa) walking, vacum the house, dance even if you don't no how ( hopfully your alone) find an online group to ask for help or find info, its pretty easy being diabetic or having low blood sugar it pretty much the same. Look for what you want to know and you'l find it. Glen  > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Gibcast <gibcast@...> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: My many > E2 > > results: > > > > Arimidex > > > > > > > > > or not? Guest guest
Did know about the peanuts, but I know peanuts lowers Thyroid! Be sure to follow the two emergency, temporary blood glucose lowering methods (engage in physical exercise and drink water) and test your blood as soon as possible. Your medication dosage may need to be adjusted and your doctor may have further guidelines for you to follow " I have all those symptoms except sweating I think.... :-( Â > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Gibcast <gibcast@...> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: My many > E2 > > results: > > > > Arimidex > > > > > > > > > or not? Guest guest
, it sounds like a good idea for you to visit the GP as soon as possible and get more strips for the meter so you can see what fasting and post meal glucose levels are. Let us know what the doctor says. -Nigel On 1 February 2011 16:56, Gibcast <gibcast@...> wrote: > > > If I avoid fruit, which would be the main source of carbs (haha I just ate > a kiwi to get potassium!) wouldn't I be safe then? > > I hear if blood sugar is above 15 mmol/l, one must measure ketons in the > urine to check if one has got a diabetic ketosis. Guest guest
I'll call them today and get an appointment hopefully before the weekend comes. The thing is.. I understand what's going on with my body.. I have insulin resistance and MUST control this with a perfect diet - No carbs, no sugar, no fruit! warned me about fruit yesterda! She says fruit is worse than sugar! So I am now trying to do all I can do avoid diabetes. I am worried about one thing though, when cutting fruits: POTASSIUM! I know mine is low both in serum and RBC. And I am also worried about taking Potassium supplements. Yes, I am worried a lot. > > > If I avoid fruit, which would be the main source of carbs (haha I just ate > a kiwi to get potassium!) wouldn't I be safe then? > > I hear if blood sugar is above 15 mmol/l, one must measure ketons in the > urine to check if one has got a diabetic ketosis. Guest guest
Those are US units. In Europe we use mmol/l. I used the converter: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-sugar-converter.html And found your ranges to be 3.6 to 5.5. Which is about what we have here. Except here it's 4.0 to 6.0. Fasting range. So, the highest blood sugar I've seen was 2 hours after eating a pizza (I did have ice cream the day before that) and my blood sugar was, in your units, 2 hours after my pizza-meal; 270. It was probably a lot higher than that right after the meal too. So after that reading I made up my mind: NO MORE CARB-RICH FOOD! EVER! Like, I must focus on my health now, not my my cravings! I will try to buy strips today and test right before I eat (which is 2-3 hours after the previous meal) and 2 hours after each meal, plus just before going to bed, right? I will choose a meal to test every day, I can't test before and after EVERY meal. I can't take that much pain stinging my fingers like that! Last time I did it 6 times daily, I called the ambulance in the middle of the night because my head was spinning and my heart started racing. Low cortisol, high adrenaline, whatever, it felt horrible. So I will try to measure my glucose every once in a while, maybe not every day. No more fruit starting today. I think I better buy vegetables that are high in potassium. But they must also be low carb. AND good for thyroid. Damn it's difficult following so man advices in a diet. No sugar, no gluten, no carbs, no thyroid-antoganists, etc. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Gibcast <gibcast@...> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: My > many > > E2 > > > results: > > > > > Arimidex > > > > > > > > > > > or not? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Friday, January 28, > 2011, > > 2:08 > > > PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Ok, let's look at my E2 > results > > from > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > November til today, all blood > was > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > drawn at 11 am, fasting, only > with > > HC > > > taken > > > > > before > > > > > > > > > > > the > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > blood draw: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Lab 1 (Norway): > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 18th of November 2010: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 0.11 (<0.18) - NOTE: > Seems > > fine! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Lab 3 (Belgium): > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 18th of December 2010: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > E2: 69 pg/mL (<30 pg/mL) > - > > NOTE: > > > This is > > > > > suddenly > > > > > > > > > > > very, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > very high! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Lab 1 (Norway): > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 13th of January 2011: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > E2: 0.08 (<0.18 nmol/l) - > NOTE: > > I > > > did > > > > this > > > > > test to > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > " confirm " my E2 was high as > in > > the > > > previous > > > > test > > > > > > > > > > > above, but > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > the result was NORMAL. Guest guest
Am I going nuts? He is testing me every 3-6 months with blood samples. He sees me every 4-8 months, depending on when I have someone to bring with me to fly out of country, and what my cash flow is like. It's 8 months since I saw him. It's too long. He says I should visit him for a checkup (physical examination) every 3 months. And do blood samples approx every 3 months too. The thing is.. I know that even if a fasting morning serum flucose is OK, it doesn't mean you can't get diabetes, cause hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia goes hand in hand and I _HAVE SEEN_ a swinging glucose as of late. So, I feel like... It's not enough seeing Hertoghe every 4-8 months! That's why I am seeing my GP! But my GP says " eat whatever you want " - He doesn't understand I have insulin resistance! See? I need to watch myself and not JUST completely trust doctors! They don't care about my life as much as I care about my life! Guest guest
Tom, We have been talking for some time and I see this happen to people.
