Guest guest
I think its a matter of strategy: being prepared with another doctor lined up if this one doesn't budge, and being brutally honest about what you want and demanding that the doctor explain himself, instead of feeling like you need to explain yourself. I went in with notes and my own documentation and was able to get a little further. The other aspect of the strategy is understanding where your doctor is coming from and how to frame your needs in a way he will treat you the way you want: request a semen analysis, then request another one after going on testosterone shots, and then be treated for fertility. Also I found that focusing on the hot flashes/night sweats, and inability to insert penis into vagina and make babies... good christian logic will work wonders. The baby making will also give your doctor a good excuse to use injectibles instead of topical. Some doctors simply won't work with another doctor, they simply don't understand enough of the hormones to make even that decision. They are relying on medical protocols, and they don't say anything about putting someone on 3 different hormones at the same time. When my doctor asked an endo about my request for the 3 hormones, imediatly my doctor became suspicious of my motives, thinking I was doing this for access to " steroids " I just wonder the kinds of suspicions doctors will have of me in six months, when I will have added another 20 lbs of muscle, leaned out and lost all of my hair. I am already built like a slightly out of shape lineman. I think that an intent on doing whatever it takes, including flying to michigan to see dr. crisler will work well. I know what it feels like to have low testosterone, and how hard it is to simply stand up for myself, and how little energy I had to even make the doctor appointments. > > I've read several posts here about getting ones doctor to work with Dr. > Crisler or others. Guest guest
I don't think its arrogance (At least not in my Doctors case) I think you have to consider that what he suggests is not the mainstream thinking. *At least not to many doctors. There was a time that I wanted my doctor to consult with him and she considered it but after doing some R & D she declined. I think there is a fear that he is/was? associated with sports / steroids etc? I'm not sure. Some of the things he suggests she told me were too far from what she was trained to do. One example was the use of Arimidex. She said that while doctors often do prescribe drugs off label that this seemed like a poor idea. *Never tested for use in men. *Only used by Terminal Female Patients. *Fear that long term use might screw up the hormone control part of the brain. etc... Anyway, we talked about what she thought was the mainstream approach to reducing conversion to E2 (Daily Zinc and weight loss) and I opted for that. *And it worked so I'm happy. > > I've read several posts here about getting ones doctor to work with Dr. > Crisler or others.
