Guest guest
I am confused, Is there a test that someone without any insurance can order for themselves online. I do understand that the Quest lab is the best but would have sworn that I have read about others getting this test online??? I know someone right now taking too much TRT and not testing his E2 because he does not have insurance I was hoping to get him a resource to get some testing. I cannot fix his choices but perhaps at least help him get some testing done. Guest guest
There are several online sites where you can order lab tests without a doctor's order. The one I use (privatemd) uses LabCorp laboratory. I don't know if other sites use Quest or not. If you use Privatemd, they offer a 15% discount in April if you use the code " APR10BST " . ________________________________ From: zashes11 <jharvey@...> Sent: Tue, April 6, 2010 5:22:07 PM Subject: Re: Online lab tests for E2 I am confused, Is there a test that someone without any insurance can order for themselves online. Guest guest
As Phil has said, a lot of people use LEF.ORG for lab tests their doctor isn't willing to do. Their prices seem to be pretty competitive even for non-members. Their tests are done through LabCorp, so you would need a LabCorp office somewhere near you. The LEF test for estradiol is the standard test, so if you want the sensitive test that Dr. and others prefer, you'll have to call them and ask for " estradiol, sensitive " , which is LabCorp's #140244. It think it costs about $50. The standard test is $33 for members, or $44 for non-members. I should also say, with the usual warnings about you making your own decisions on such matters, that it is also possible to order arimidex online, in liquid form which makes dosing a lot easier. Of course it's not genuine brand name arimidex, but rather generic anastrozole made up in an unregulated lab, probably somewhere in China. So technically, and subject to the obvious risks involved, you can test and even treat yourself for high E2 if your doctor refuses to do so, and at a fairly reasonable (uninsured) cost. Regular testing, however, would be absolutely mandatory to make sure E2 doesn't go too low. In my experience, the dose of anastrozole I've needed to maintain E2 in the lower 20's has dropped very substantially over the years, to nearly homeopathic levels, so you really do need to keep testing. I've wondered why the required dose would drop so significantly over time, and the only explanation I've come up with is that lower E2 tends to make you more lean and less fat, which in turn means less aromatase production and less conversion to E2, so less anastrozole is needed. But there may be another less beneficial explanation. Dr. may still have his complimentary one-year subscription to the LEF magazine at allthingsmale.com. As I recall, once all the dust settles you also end up with a one-year LEF membership for $29, unless they've changed that. > > > > > From: zashes11 <jharvey@> > > > Subject: Online lab tests for E2 > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 2:16 PM > > > These are thh labs I found online but > > > it is hard to figure out if they are doing the > > > ultrasensitive E2 lab tests. > > > > > > http://www.healthcheckusa.com/ > > > > > > https://www.directlabs.com/Default.aspx > > > > > > http://www.labsafe.com/ > > > > > > http://www.privatemdlabs.com/ > > > > > > http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Health-Well-Being/Health-23000-1/Blood-T\ ests.htm > > > > > > Does anyone get therir tests done online? which test do you > > > order to get the ultrasenitive E2 results? > > > > > > thank you, > > > > > > Judy > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks for this post. I have not been able to get my Doc to do an E2 test so I am using LEF.com and getting the test done myself. I had to call Life Extension to get the test and it was very helpful to know the actual Labcorp test number because they do not seem to be very aware of this sensitive test. I was told that the test is not a standard offering but they would get a price for me and call back. I suppose one could order the test directly from Labcorp but Life Extension has better prices especially if you are a member. > > > > > > > From: zashes11 <jharvey@> > > > > Subject: Online lab tests for E2 > > > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 2:16 PM > > > > These are thh labs I found online but > > > > it is hard to figure out if they are doing the > > > > ultrasensitive E2 lab tests. > > > > > > > > http://www.healthcheckusa.com/ > > > > > > > > https://www.directlabs.com/Default.aspx > > > > > > > > http://www.labsafe.com/ > > > > > > > > http://www.privatemdlabs.com/ > > > > > > > > http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Health-Well-Being/Health-23000-1/Blood-T\ ests.htm > > > > > > > > Does anyone get therir tests done online? which test do you > > > > order to get the ultrasenitive E2 results? > > > > > > > > thank you, > > > > > > > > Judy > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > > > > >
