Guest guest
Gee, I have been on Testosterone treatments now for about 8 years and never heard of what you are saying. Mine comes in individual little vials, but guess a batch could be bad. Damn, just something else to worry about! lol Good luck!! Bob Dayton, Ohio In a message dated 9/4/2010 5:27:14 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, mikeydell25@... writes: My doctor gave me my fourth shot of testosterone (400mcgs(?) in 12 weeks this past Monday, by Wednesday my left buttock was warm, very painful to the touch and it was very difficult to walk or even sit. On Thursday I received a call from his office stating that I needed to talk to the doc. He told me that several people had complained of similar symptoms and that he believed he had a 'bad 'batch' of testosterone. He prescribed Cipro and said he discarded the batch but sent a vial to a lab for testing. He said that in his 13 years of administering shots nothing like this has ever occurred. I'm feeling slightly better today, Saturday, but not 100% yet. Has anyone here ever experienced similar events after getting a shot and if so what were the short/long term effects if any? I am relatively new to testosterone therapy so please excuse any ignorance. Thanks!

Guest guest
Being a T neophyte I'm gonna go with mcgs, this MD starts everyone out with low doses, my original dose was 300. There are a host of questions I'll be asking when he get's back from his vacation! ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Sat, September 4, 2010 5:31:04 PM Subject: Re: Possible bad batch of T Are you sure about the dose 400 mcgs or mgs one is not enough the other is too much. Guest guest
300 mcgs is such a small dose I doubt it could even be measured in a syringe even if it was extremely concentrated. It would have no effect on you.Somewhere there was some miscommuncation about the dosing.Phil > > > From: mikeydell25 <mikeydell25@...> > > Subject: Possible bad batch of T > > > > Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010, 3:45 PM > > My doctor gave me my fourth shot of > > testosterone (400mcgs(?) in 12 weeks this past Monday, by > > Wednesday my left buttock was warm, very painful to the > > touch and it was very difficult to walk or even sit. Guest guest
OK Mike this is all new to you Testosterone shots don't come in mcg's they are in mgs. And your shot is huge 400 mgs does he do this every 3 or 4 weeks if so this is very old and Dr.'s that keep up about treating this don't do them big shots every 2 to 4 weeks any more. In this link to the AACE Guidelines it states to do shots every 7 to 10 days. What happens doing shots this big is most of it will peak in 4 days and your levels can go over 2,500 on labs then your doing to start falling back by your next shot your very low and this is when we feel bad when levels go to low. So your on a roller coaster ride up after the shot only to fall very low by the next one. Also most of this shot will convert into Estradiol high levels of Estradiol make your SHBG go very high and this binds up your Free Testosterone and you don't feel good. High Estradiol will also kill your sex life and make you feel anxiety even some men have Panic Attacks. So test this you need to be at about 20 pg/ml. And some men on high dose like this end up with a thicker blood so test this also doing a CBC. Most of us do are own shots and we start at 100 mgs every week. Ask your Dr. to show you how to do this and do your shots into your thigh. Get a vial of 200mgs/ml of Test C and use a 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle and do your own shots. Also add in some HCG 250 IU's the 2 days each before your weekly Test C shot this will keep your testis working so they don't get small. In this link is a lot of good info about doing TRT it's for women becoming men but still dam good info read it. http://www.ftmguide.org/ttypes.html#cypionate We have a links and files section at the home page on the left. It's full of info you need to read the more you learn about this the better off your going to be when you see your Dr. hear is one good link. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html This one is on doing shots. http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm Go to Dr. 's site and read TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG update he is one of the best Dr.'s for low T out there and he puts this on his site free for you and your Dr. www.allthingsmale.com Co-Moderator Phil > > > From: mikeydell25 <mikeydell25@...> > > Subject: Possible bad batch of T > > > > Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010, 3:45 PM > > My doctor gave me my fourth shot of > > testosterone (400mcgs(?) in 12 weeks this past Monday, > by > > Wednesday my left buttock was warm, very painful to > the > > touch and it was very difficult to walk or even sit. > On > > Thursday I received a call from his office stating > that I > > needed to talk to the doc. Guest guest
Most fair size towns have at least one compunding pharmacy. They usually mix up a batch once a week. There would be no shortage that way and you can get fresher testosterone.Any problems and you can address the actual person who compounded it.No additional cost and I feel better injecting something who I personally know made it.The hcg from india that I use, kind of worries me.Easy to contaminate with no accountability. Guest guest
Is it possible that it's CC's? That would be my only other guess. 300cc's the first shot and 400cc's for the last 3 subsequent shots. ________________________________ From: phil <phildude43@...> Sent: Sun, September 5, 2010 10:16:05 AM Subject: Re: Possible bad batch of T 300 mcgs is such a small dose I doubt it could even be measured in a syringe even if it was extremely concentrated. Guest guest
No CC are the same as ML's most Testosterone shots come in a vial that has 200mgs./ml. So 400cc would 80,000 mgs. Guest guest
It is fairly common for a doctor to start one out on a 300 mg shot of test every three weeks. That works out to 100 mg a week. The downside of this course of action is that your test levels will be high right after your injection but by the end of three weeks your test levels will be rather low. My doctor started me out this way after I switched to Test Cypionate from Androgel. I didn't really feel the highs and lows too much. However, after a few injections, I asked the doctor to let me inject myself at home. Now I inject every three and a half days. This seems to be working out really well for me. > > > From: mikeydell25 mikeydell25@... > > Subject: Possible bad batch of T > > > > Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010, 3:45 PM > > My doctor gave me my fourth shot of > > testosterone (400mcgs(?) in 12 weeks this past Monday, by > > Wednesday my left buttock was warm, very painful to the > > touch and it was very difficult to walk or even sit. Guest guest
Well, here it is Tuesday, 9/7 and I'm alive and still kicking - both literally and figuratively! The leg muscles are loose and feel normal, my walking is 99.9%, and my butt soreness is about a 0.5 on a pain scale from 1 to 10. Oh, this saga ain't over yet...not by a long shot! I'll keep the board posted on any new developments. ________________________________ From: phil <phildude43@...> Sent: Sun, September 5, 2010 10:16:05 AM Subject: Re: Possible bad batch of T 300 mcgs is such a small dose I doubt it could even be measured in a syringe even if it was extremely concentrated. Guest guest
Good News my legs are only a little better what did you do. The longer I have this problem the more I feel it was them statin drugs that did this to me. I have not getten the CoQ10 in the mail if this is low I wonder if it will help. I am reading a forum about this and most of the people with this problem felt better off the statins a week or two I have been off them 8 weeks. But if my CoQ10 is low will that cause leg pain I need to read up on this more. I found this by Dr. Briffa. ==================================================== It is my experience that the cholesterol-reducing drugs known as ‘statins’ have been vigorously embraced by the medical profession as a largely safe and effective preventive for cardiovascular disease. Yes, the best available evidence we have is that this class of drugs have somewhat limited effectiveness. I wrote about this earlier this year. Another side to statins, of course, is that they are not without risk. In particular, they have the capacity to deplete the body of a nutrient known as ‘coenzyme Q10′. Low levels of this substance in the body can lead to various symptoms which include fatigue and muscular pain. Below, I have added in a piece which explore the issue of statin-induced coezyme Q10 (CoQ10) depletion in more depth. Recently, researchers in New York, USA, tested the effect of CoQ10 supplementation in a group of 32 individuals taking statins who were experiencing muscular symptoms such as muscle pain [1]. Half the group was treated with CoQ10 at a dose of 100 mg per day, while the other half received vitamin E (400 IU per day) which might be regarded as a ‘placebo’ in this study. After 30 days, those taking the CoQ10 saw a 40 per cent decrease in muscle pain severity and a similar drop in the extent to which this pain affected their daily lives. In contrast, the taking of vitamin E did not lead to any significant changes in symptoms. What this study shows is that CoQ10 supplementation may be of real benefit for individuals suffering from the side-effects of statins. My advice is that if someone is taking or planning to take a statin drug, is that they should at least accompany it with some CoQ10.
