After Prostate Cancer

Hi guys, I'm new here.

I had Prostate Cancer (PCa) 12 years ago at age 68 and had my prostate

surgically removed. The surgery was very successful sparing the nerves and

removing the capsule cleanly. My PSA has been 00.0 ever since and we are

assuming that there is no PCa floating around in my body. My T readings are

very low and my doctor wants to give me supplemental T to bring it up. He has

prescribed Test Cyp but I haven't had any injections yet. I'm aware of the fact

that PCa feeds on T and I'm apprehensive about having these shots, yet I have

accumulated belly fat and a lot of fatigue which he attributes to the low T. We

are assuming the PCa did not escape the capsule since it hasn't shown up in the

PSA readings, but if any did escape the T can reactivate it and I'll be in for

trouble. Needless to say, my sex life has been in the toilet for 12 years but

my concern now is to protect my heart and have better quality of life. It's a

gamble but I think the odds are in my favor and that the PCa is totally gone by

now.

Have any of you fellows had any experience or knowledge of my situation and

would you please comment on it.

Thanks,

Hi and Welcome,

Yes we have men here that had Prostate Cancer and are on TRT. From what I know

today most problems me have with this cancer are from high levels of Estradiol.

Back in the day they use to think being on Testosterone would make the Cancer

grow and they use to give the men meds to lower there testosterone doing this

was making them wish they were dead.

I don't have this problem so I can't say if there is a type of Prostate Cancer

that would grow or come back going on TRT. But I don't think there is one I

will hope some of the men here will get back to with some help and info. I can

tell you that you will feel much better keeping your Testosterone levels up into

the upper 1/3 of your labs range and keeping your Estradiol levels down to about

20 pg/ml.
