Guest guest
I have another question because now I am bothered that I am not sleeping and I am finding myself shaking... My saliva labs were: Cortisol: Morning 4.2 (3.7-9.5) Noon 3.7 H (1.2-3.0) Evening 2.5H (0.6-1.9) Night 0.5 (0.4-1.0) I am trying to decide if I should got back on cortisol until I get my estrogen situation resolved because I didn't have so many problems with migraines on the cortisol... I have been waking wide awake around 4:30am. I am in bed between 10:30p-11p. I love to sleep now I feel like I am wired. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I did think of trying the pregnenolone but I have a problem with progesterone. Lori
Guest guest
Yes go back on it that is what I would do if your going high in your sleep this is what happens. http://livingnetwork.co.za/lifestylefunctional-medicine/hormones/adrenal-fatigue\ / =================================================== Adrenal insufficiency is linked to insomnia in two ways. 1.)If your cortisol drops too low during the night your blood sugar drops too. Your body compensate by releasing adrenaline as an emergency measure to mobilize more sugar. This has the effect of waking you in an instant. This can be reduced by eating high protein snack before retiring e.g. sardines, nuts of high quality protein shake. 2.)In early stages of adrenal fatigue cortisol levels tend to rise and if they are high at midnight they can energise you and keep you awake. Phosphorylated serine can be used to lower cortisol at these times due to its ACTH dampening effect. Guest guest
If your high on copper above the top of range no you don't need to add it. But Zinc will lower your copper levels. Guest guest
Glad to see this discussed here. Phil, I usually take my last dose of Isocort at 6pm then retire at about 1AM. I only last 4 hours before what you described. I get up eat some eggs and I go back down for another 4. Question: Do you think taking a small dose 1/2 or 1 Isocort pill would allow me to sleep through the night? Thanks in advance > > > From: alagonza2000 <alagonza2000@...> > > Subject: Question about Cortisol > > > > Date: Saturday, April 2, 2011, 8:40 AM > > I have another question because now I > > am bothered that I am not sleeping and I am finding myself > > shaking... > > > > My saliva labs were: > > > > Cortisol: > > Morning 4.2 (3.7-9.5) > > Noon 3.7 H (1.2-3.0) > > Evening 2.5H (0.6-1.9) > > Night 0.5 (0.4-1.0) > > > > I am trying to decide if I should got back on cortisol > > until I get my estrogen situation resolved because I didn't > > have so many problems with migraines on the cortisol... > > > > I have been waking wide awake around 4:30am. Guest guest
Dave, I would not hurt to try it try one pill if it works better but not 100% in a few days up it to 2 pills after all 8 pills per day is only = to 20 mgs of Cortisol you can take up to 40 mgs / day and be safe. Guest guest
It's about trying things one at a time just doing HC one time that much you should have gotten a feeling of well being from this if you did not have a Thyroid dump. I don't know much about adaptogen but try it see if it helps. Just do one thing at time give it a few weeks to tell less it makes you sicker. Guest guest
Phil- I tried 2.5mg of HC and that seems to help the shaking. I have a question about liver support. You mentioned to take DIM and TMG for the estrogen. I have a high histidine level- new to finding this out. In my research, I read to take methione but isnt that what TMG does? What about SAMe? I am having depression with the anxiety and wonder if SAMe or TMG would be better? Hope someone knows! Guest guest
TMG turns into some SAMe this is why I tell people to take this at bed time. http://www.34-menopause-symptoms.com/panic-disorder.htm So it's all about balance. ==================================================== 1. Estrogen has an inhibitive affect on the stress-hormone cortisol. When estrogen is too low, levels of cortisol rise, raising blood pressure and blood sugar, and causing panic disorder. Estrogen also has an important affect on a brain chemical called serotonin, which is responsible for happy, balanced moods. Estrogen helps to stimulate the production and transportation of serotonin around the body, and prevents its break down. The drop of serotonin that accompanies low estrogen levels during menopause causes an unstable mood and, as a result, anxiety. 2. Finally, hormonal fluctuations during menopause cause panic disorder due to drops in the hormone progesterone. Progesterone has been shown to have a calming, soothing affect on the brain, and low levels of progesterone (in combination with the hormonal changes described above) can cause panic disorder. Guest guest
Lori, do you have high histamine? SAMe donates methyl groups to things and lowers histamine levels. TMG, methyl B12 or methylfolate will convert your homocysteine to methionine, which will then convert to SAMe. When TMG converts homocysteine it turns to DMG, which helps remove estrogen. These supplements work well for many as homocysteine is often high. Some also take methionine and it's cheaper than taking actual SAMe. This helps provide a visual: http://www.heartfixer.com/AMRI-N1.jpg You may want to test homocysteine levels. I found out I was lower than optimal and the supplements that lower homocysteine make me feel bad and I even gain weight from them rapidly. So I supplement DMG for liver estrogen detox and if I take methyl B12 (I occasionally take B12 shots) I try to increase my homocysteine by taking a lot of methionine around the same time. It's all part of a cycle. Things go round and round, but some can have problems at some point in the cycle. -Nigel On 7 April 2011 09:14, alagonza2000 <alagonza2000@...> wrote: > > > Phil- I tried 2.5mg of HC and that seems to help the shaking. Guest guest
This is just my experience, but I get no " feel good " effect from HC. It just prevents (or stops if I'm overdue for a dose) shakes, confusion and that low cortisol death-like fatigue from occurring. If I'm generally tired or need a pick up I'm probably not low cortisol and HC will just make me feel bloated and tired if I didn't need it. Instead, these symptoms are more often low iron, hypothyroid or even that my estradiol has gone too high and is blocking thyroid hormones. Note your symptoms when increasing cortisol. If you feel funny, that could be your body telling you something about cortisol levels going higher. -Nigel On 3 April 2011 11:03, alagonza2000 <alagonza2000@...> wrote: > > > Phil- there was no well-being... Guest guest
Nigel- This is all new to me so any help you can give me is very appreciated! Histidine 73H (41-82) methionine 17 (14-30) homocysteine 5.5 (3 -14) Magnesium 40L (36-70) Zinc 9.1L (7.5-16.3) Selenium 0.12L (0.14-0.47) I take 5000mg methyl B12, 5mthf folic and am not sure if this is a good idea or not... Could any of this be causing this anxiety and depression? AUGH. thank you! > > > > > > > Phil- I tried 2.5mg of HC and that seems to help the shaking. I have a > > question about liver support. Guest guest
Lori, this methylation stuff is well suited for /H.A.N. to take a look at. He's into this and you might ask him for some input. I'm assuming that's serum levels you posted, no? See how your homocysteine is towards the lower end of the range, along with methionine? That suggests that whole cycle of things is depleted. Methionine may help, which converts to SAMe. Low SAMe can cause depression and anxiety. However, other things from low cortisol to low P5P (acitve B6) can as well. You'll have to see what works for you. Some have problems with B12 or folate supplements. IF they make you feel worse that's something to think about. -Nigel On 7 April 2011 19:30, alagonza2000 <alagonza2000@...> wrote: > > > Nigel- > > This is all new to me so any help you can give me is very appreciated! > > Histidine 73H (41-82) > methionine 17 (14-30) > homocysteine 5.5 (3 -14) > Magnesium 40L (36-70) > Zinc 9.1L (7.5-16.3) > Selenium 0.12L (0.14-0.47) > > I take 5000mg methyl B12, 5mthf folic and am not sure if this is a good > idea or not... > > Could any of this be causing this anxiety and depression?
