Suggest blood tests to request?

Sorry about all these postings but like I said I'm very new to all this and have

serious concerns about my doctor's attempts to simply treat symptoms and not

causes. What blood/hormone tests would the group suggest I ask him to draw? I

suspect my estroget levels may be a bit higher than normal because I have a pear

shaped body and have always had male breasts. I looked in the file section and

didn't see anything clearly labeled or I would have just read up there. If

anyone wants to PM me my address is rlaven911@...

You might have Klinefelter Syndrome here is a link to a good forum about this

problem.

I went through nearly three years of misdiagnosis because of the same issue

- treating the symptoms rather than finding the cause. Even now, my

internist will not order an E2 test, because he " doesn't do that for men " .

grrrr.... Good luck. I believe that you must be your own advocate in health

matters.

All that I can afford right now is Kaiser, and even if I could afford it, I

doubt that better insurance would take me as a new customer because of my

pre-existing conditions.

I have changed doctors a couple of times. So far, this is the best one which

I have been able to find. At least he ordered the testosterone when my labs

were at 345. I know that my previous doctor would have refused. This one has

also been less reluctant to refer me to specialists when I ask him. The

others simply said no, even when they were over their heads.

So, I am trying to work with what I have available to me. With the help of

this group, I am learning which tests to look at. I'll have my E2 done

privately. The cost is about $70 US for the sensitive test. Then I will

decide what to do about taking arimidex, etc.

Thanks for everyone's help. If someone on this list knows of a good doctor

for this stuff, who works for Kaiser in the San Diego area, then please let

me know.

I hear you money is tight all over the country I am retired and have not had a

raise in my SS check for some time now. The Gov. keeps saying the cost of

living did not go up. So what does the low selling of house's have to do with

retried people when drugs, gas, food and heating your house keeps going up. The

dam cost of living is low because of things that have no effect on people that

are retired and living on a fixed income.

Yes, I hear you. I just try to be grateful for the positive things.

For example, just a few years ago, I had no idea what was going on with me,

and the doctors didn't either. Now I do, and I feel much better. I would

rather know what I need to do, and come up with a way to do it, than to feel

terrible and have no idea why I feel that way.

Many people are not so fortunate.
