Brett just going by your TSH your in need of Thyroid your hypo your pituitary is

asking for a lot of Thyroid hormone but one needs to also go by how they feel.

If I were you I would get my Cortisol levels tested also get a 4x's in a day

saliva test like the one in this link.

http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/

If your low you need to treat this first then go on Thyroid meds.

Here is a link to a test you can do in the morning before you get out of bed

that will tell if your hypo but use a shake down a thermometer.

http://drbate.com/Ref/thyroid.html

If you need meds for Thyroid this is the best.

http://www.universaldrugstore.com/medications/Thyroid/60mg

You can learn a lot about this problem from reading this site or even getting

the book.

http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

When they had a forum I was a mod there for Men Only.

Definitely get your adrenals check as phil said. We use canaryclub for $99, not

sure if that's better price. T3 Uptake and Free T4 Index are obsolete tests. The

TSH 3.48 (0.4-4.5) shows your pituitary is working atleast partially and you are

hypo.

The Free T4 1.2 (0.8-1.8) is a little low. The best test is FT3. I think you

should get Free T3, Reverse T3, TPO antibody, and TAb antibody done.

Here is a good group for stopthethryoidmadness:

NaturalThyroidHormones/?yguid=104711494

Send them these labs plus symptoms and they can help out.

Thanks Jennie & Phil,

Today I went to another doctor, Dr Wong Endo, that I had seen before and

he agreed that that was the wrong test. So he sent me for my 3rd thyroid

test in three weeks. I hope " third time is the charm! " LOL

He is testing FreeT3, and reverse T3 like you said and he proscribed me

the Quest Labs Cortisol, Saliva , LC/MS/MS 19897

http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/testmenu/jsp/showTestMenu.jsp?fn=19897.html

He seemed to know what he was doing. I told him I had been reading the book

on Adrenal fatigue and that not many doctors knew about this. He said the

understanding of adrenal fatigue was starting to catch on.

This is the same Endo that I saw earlier when I was first wanting to

try Arimidex. He didn't want to proscribe it then but we had a good

discussion about it and I had told him about some of the research on

estradiol in men and left him with some of Dr 's TRT paper work. It

first he seemed like he didn't want it until I mentioned estradiol effecting

prostrate problems and that perked his interest. This time when he first

came in he asked what I had researched. He almost seemed disappointed that

I didn't bring him anything. So who knows maybe we have a convert in the

works on better TRT for men. At lest he is open to talk about it and

dosen't put the patient down for having ideas of how you want to be treated.

Anyway thank you both for your advise, Brett

Hi Guys,

I got my third thyroid labs done 6/23 this time with T3 free:

TSH, 2.75 Range 0.40-4.50 mIU/L

T4, Free 1.0 Range 0.8-1.8 ng/dL

T3, Free 324 Range 230-420 np/dL

I this a good level of T3? Does it mater that T4 free is running

consistently low in the range in all these tests?

The labs done 6/16/2010:

*Tsh 3rd Generation 3.48 Range 0.40-4.50 mIU/L

*T4 (Thyroxine) Total 7.9 Range 4.5-12.5 mcg/dL

* Free 4 Index ( T7) 2.4 Range 1.4-3.8

T4 Free 1.2 Range 0.8-1.8 ng/dL

* T3 UPTAKE 31 Range 22-35

In my first lab " T4 Free " was only .9

Thanks for your help, Brett

Brett,.....I learned that my mother has seen the doctor you are. She seemed to

like him OK.

My TSH was 1.69, and my T4 Free was 1.3 in December of 2009.

Short of that I don't have a clue what to say! :))

Brett your TSH is over 2 this is a flag going up and your FT3 is just below med

range. And FT4 is on the low side. Next thing is how do you feel you need to

look at the symptoms of being low and see if you have them. One other way of

telling is to take your Basel Temp read this link.

http://drbate.com/Ref/thyroid.html

Also it helps if you test your Total T3 and T4.

Read this link.
