Well I was on TRT when I was put on Statin Drugs after having Heart Bypass

Surgery and I never in my life had high Chol. levels. I was put on them 2 yrs

ago and from day one I had joint and muscle pain telling my Dr.'s I can't take

this med it's crippling me. They did not listen to me until I could not stand

up or walk last Sep. this is when I hit bottom.

Now they listened and took me off the still today I am in a lot of pain and

can't stand or walk with out a walker.

Read this link and join there forum and post see if this is one of the sides

from Statin Drugs.

Many hormones are MADE from cholesterol: pregnenolone, progesterone,

aldosterone, cortisol, DHEA, testosterone, estradiol. So if you " lower " your

cholesterol, you are likewise lowering all the above hormones. Ageing is

basically the decline of hormones, so when you take statins, you are signing up

for accelerated ageing.

same year I started Crestor I find my low T. My total cholesterol now is 150.

I stopped it for about 2 months and my symptoms of ED and depression and low

energy only continued to progress. It was right after this that I checked my T

and that is what started this whole ride. Anyone ever heard of any association?

High cholesterol is a sign of hypothyroidism, by the way

Unfortunately Barb I have an inherited dyslipidemia which will kill me quicker

than the statins...I just cant find declining testosterone listed as a side

effect

I stopped it for about 2 months and my symptoms of ED and depression and low

energy only continued to progress. It was right after this that I checked my T

How bad is your cholesterol? As Nigel said, high cholesterol is usually from

low thyroid. Were your Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid levels checked? The TSH

test is not a good indicator of thyroid levels, at all.

Since cholesterol is made in the liver, I would look there for something to fix.

I think Nigel also attached a link that showed a correlation of sexual

dysfunction with the statins. Even if you can't find anything that spells it

out as a side effect, it has to be related, because so many hormones come from

cholesterol. Those hormones are also related to neurotransmitters and together

give you energy, libido, " balls, " etc.
