Guest guest
are you newly diagnosed with low t? If so I'm sure your depression and anxst are cause by hormone changes . I never really struggled with this stuff (maybe minor anxiety, id really just call it worrying). A few weeks ago I became really depressed, began having panic attacks and couldn't handle stress. That's what sent me to the doctor and he tested my t. it was very low. It really helped to know that the hormones were causing it and that I wasn't losing my mind. I've read a lot of good things about St johns wort, give it a try if you need a pick me up till your drs appt. its the number one prescribed anti-depressant in germany. > > Hi > > I am really struggling with depresion and anxiety here, thinking of trying st j's wort until i can get diagnosed and treated. > > i see the new endo in 21 days (i already saw a really good endo but can't afford the self pay tests, so had to go on the health service) but wondered if st j w will lower or affect any hormones it's worth avoiding for now. ? Guest guest
Hi Shaun I have had low T it transpires for over a year now, and who knows how long before that. result last year was 9.2, ref range 10-31, and this year, 10.3 or something like that. Drs had lied to me that it was normal. I will try the st j w, but am really struggling here. in the past st j w made me feel better but then i took prozac and after that nothing seemed to work again, and not st j w either, maybe it'll be ok now though thanks chris > > are you newly diagnosed with low t? Guest guest
Hang in there, we all know just how you feel. Your not alone. Once you get your t worked out you'll feel much better. Remind yourself often that is not you but the hormones that are making you feel this way. don't forget to workout, eat healthy, be with friends (even if you don't feel like it) and get lots if sun. I've found yoga really helps clear the mind. Also a good nights sleep. Read before bed it will make u good and tired. > > > > are you newly diagnosed with low t? Guest guest
thanks Shaun, i very much hope you are right part of the time i feel like numbing myself up with dihydrocodeine or something but i've resisted that so far, wouldn't be good to get an addiction like that, plus it might alter things even more thanks > > > Hang in there, we all know just how you feel. Guest guest
sorry Phil just one more thing some doctors seem to think that if someone's depressed it can affect their hormones too, so they prescribe anti depressants. these have never really worked that well for me (st j w helped ok at the time) so i'm not sure i buy that theory but i can see how it might work in theory. maybe the fact that anti depressants make me worse indciates it's not depression as such but hormone issues. what are your thoughts on the depression>causes low hormones theory? i could it be a chicken/egg situation? but for sure i guess low hormones will affect mood. most things i've read seems to suggest that hormones causea lot of 'psychiatric' problems . Hertoghes book seems to suggest that, and dr Peatfield (who i saw) also links thyroid and mental problems doesn't he. thanks chris > > The think about st j's wort is the time it takes to work.
