Guest guest
Can you put in the ranges for your lab work? Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile My Journey Begins. Here are my first test results. Comments are welcome. Creatine 88 umol/L TSH 1.61 mU/L LH 4.8 U/L Prolactin 2.3 ug/L Testosterone 9.5 nmol/L SHBG 42 nmol/L Free Test 3.8 nmol/L PSA .51 ug/L I am 60 yrs old. My GP referred me to a uro. The uro said he sees nothing to be treated. Before he ordered the tests I asked him if he has ever ordered an Estradiol test for a male and he said to wait and see what these tests were first. He did say that if the Viagra, levitra etc were not working he would look further. (They are working, but I need the maximum dose.) According to what I read in this newsgroup my T is low. The question is, where do I go from here. I live in Canada. Has anyone successfully navigated the Canadian socialized medical system successfully with this problem? It seems to me that withing the system I might be S.O.L. and if I go outside the system I would need to pay big bucks to get anywhere. I have some Indoplex DIM sitting in the cupboard. Should I try that?

Guest guest
Your Testosterone levels in my units are at 273 this is in the normal range but at the bottom and only normal for a man age over 100 don't take this crap from your Dr. ask to see a Endo in Canada they are not so bad. Your Estradiol was not tested but if it's high and you get it down with the DIM your Testosterone levels can go up some 200 to 300 points but as low as you are it's not much help. A lot of guys drive to Mi. and see Dr. you only need to see him once for him to treat you by phone check out his web site and forum. www.allthingsmale.com At his forum you can post and ask about a Dr. that Dr. knows in Canada that is great. It's not good for your health to go through life with low levels like this it shortens your life and can be bad for your heart. If you don't have night time and morning wood and try the DIM and get this wood back it means your at your best levels for Estradiol keep taking the DIM but if your wood stops your going to low. Stop the DIM until your wood comes back and then go back on the DIM but cut the tablet in half. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s= & daysprune= & f=2 Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dale <etherial@...> > Subject: My Journey Begins. Guest guest
Thank you Phil. I can see that, just like everyone else here, finding the right doctor is going to be a challenge. Unfortunately visiting DR is not very practical because I am on the west coast. I could not convince the Uro to test for E2. Too bad. That is the one test I wanted to see. While I look for a competent endo I will try taking DIM. > > > From: Dale <etherial@...> > > Subject: My Journey Begins. Here are my first test results. Guest guest
On April 1st earlier in this thread I posted my results but the Uro did not test estradiol. I wanted to know what this number was so I mad the trek from Canada to Bellingham Washington and had my Estradiol tested by Labcorp. I got the results today as follows. Estradiol Sensitive 5 pg/ml range 3 - 70 I had been taking dim for about 10 days but stopped 2 weeks before the test. If this result can be believed I am already quite low and since my T was low there does not seem to be much aromatization going on. I am not sure if I believe this test result. As soon as the blood was take I started taking dim again and I have not lost my erections. In fact they seem to have improved by being stronger with less levitra required. I intend to continue DIM and monitoring erections (phil's Protocol). I am getting a referral to a local Dr Kendler who is currently doing phase III libi-gel trials. I figure this guy should know what is going on with TRT. > > > From: Dale <etherial@...> > > Subject: My Journey Begins. Here are my first test results. Guest guest
IF your not on TRT this is possable I see this low level in men with low T. I would not take the DIM for a time being low like this is not good you have not lost wood but this might be you. Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dale <etherial@...> > Subject: Re: My Journey Begins. Guest guest
Thank you Phil. The picture is becoming very clear to me now. I did not want to go on TRT if I could avoid it but it looks like I have no other option. The numbers match how I feel. The stories here have been a real education for me and I intend to keep this thread going as my own story unfolds so that others may benefit from my experience. > > > > > > > From: Dale <etherial@> > > > > Subject: My Journey Begins. > > Here are my first test results. Guest guest
Well he is a better Endo then we have in the USA. Here is the info about Androgel. =================================================== -----------------------DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION----------------------- • Recommended starting dose: 5 g for adult males, applied topically once daily (2.1). • Apply to clean, dry, intact skin of shoulders and upper arms and/or abdomen. Do NOT apply AndroGel to the genitals (2.1). • Dose adjustment for adult males: If serum testosterone level is below the normal range, adjust dose from 5 g to 7.5 g and from 7.5 g to 10 g (2.3). ----------------------DOSAGE FORMS AND STRENGTHS----------------------AndroGel (testosterone gel) 1% for topical use is available as: • 2 x 75 g pumps (each pump dispenses 60 metered 1.25 g doses) (3) • 2.5 g packet or 5 g packet (3) ---------------------------------------------------- Start with 4 pumps doing 2 pump on your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach then do 2 pumps on the other side after a shower I would shave then do the gel knowing I am dry. Spread it over the area don't rub it in let it dry from wet. For a total of 5 grams. Now this is what you need to do in 2 week get some labs your levels if this it not enough or it's not getting through your skin can fall lower then your starting levels. If your levels don't get up past 500 to 600 go up on the dose to 7.5 grams and test again in 4 weeks. Now for doing labs get up shower good get to old gel off and go do your labs then put on the gel. If you can't do this put on the gel but don't do labs for 4 to 6 hrs or you will get a high spiked level that is not true. Don't get the gel on the area they take the blood from. =================================================== Starting on Androgel or Testim. Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel. Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150. The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and you fall back. Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread it over the area but don't rub it in. The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots. I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5 grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen and test them again in 2 weeks. When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later. Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell back. Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dale <etherial@...> > Subject: My Journey Begins. Here are my first test results.
