When I was on Androgel I tried to take it in the morning there were times this was not possible. In that case I'd take and apply the next dose at least 12 hours later. Currently my doctor changed my medication to testopel which gets implanted in the tush. My main motive for switching was $$$. Androgel is a monthly payment of 60 while the testopel was a simply office copay. I'm sure the more seasoned people here have more experience. Guest guest
He can do androgel anytime upto 6 pm after this it might keep him from falling to sleep. It's best to shower first then after shaving when he is dry put on the gel. I put it on one side at a time putting it on my upper arms and shoulders and down my back as far as I can reach. Spread it around good but don't rub it in let it dry from wet. Then do the other side. The Testosterone from the gel stays just under the skin going into the blood for about 4 to 6 hrs. So you don't want to go swimming or shower again for this time. Now for doing labs I find it best to shower go do labs then put the gel on. If you can't do this shower put on the gel keeping it off the area they stick you to take blood and go in for labs after 4 to 6 hrs. If you put on the gel then do your labs you can spick up your levels. Most men on 10 grams get a TT of about 600 if you put the gel on then do your labs you can spike up past 1500 and your Dr. will think your on to much lower you dose and you will crash. Guest guest
Hi and Welcome, How many pellets did your Dr. give you and what were your levels on labs. I ask this because when I tried the here in MI. the dam Dr. riped me off my cost for eight 75 mgs pellets this is only 600 mgs. Cost me for the first time seeing this Dr. and labs my BCBS would not cover his lab and he would only treat me if I use his lab. The first set of Eight pellets cost me over $1000.00. In 4 weeks I was feeling dam bad did more labs this cost me more money my labs were very low. So he put in Eight more pellets. Sad but true I was back in 4 weeks only for him to tell me this is not possible and he told me I must be Depressed and offered me Prozac. This cost me $600 more I did not know about pellets or this group at the time now I know he was riping me off or did not know how to give pellets to men. Knowing what I know about them today I needed over 1500 mgs of pellets to last me 3 months. Today if I could fined a Dr. that would do this the right way I would jump on it. But not one Dr. here in MI. will give enough pellets to last 3 months. This last one I talked to wanted me in every 8 weeks to give me 800 mgs for a cost of $750 each time. Guest guest
It is more important to be cosistant about applying it than it is when to apply it. Really anytime of day should work, just do it at about the same time each day. Remember to wait at least 2 hrs before swimming or otherwise getting the application area wet. > > My husband is not a morning person,,,he gets up around noon,,,is it ok to take androgel at that time or should it be taken earlier in the am? > thanks, > erin >
Guest guest
, That sounds like me before HC. Are you sure his adrenals are OK? Brett what time for androgel? > My husband is not a morning person,,,he gets up around noon,,,is it ok to > take androgel at that time or should it be taken earlier in the am? > thanks, > erin
Guest guest
Thanks for the warm welcome Phil. I can not tell you what my Test-levels are on the testapel since I just had them implanted last Thursday. While I was on two months of Androgel my levels went from 212 to 458. My doc expects when he checks my levels in three months to see numbers close to 600. Considering I'm 36 the 212 was pretty low. > > > > > > My husband is not a morning person,,,he gets up around > > noon,,,is it ok to take androgel at that time or should it > > be taken earlier in the am? > > > thanks, > > > erin > > > > > > > Hi , I'm new to the whole low T thing and even newer to > > this group. Guest guest
Men on enough pellets get levels up into the 800's using Quest labs top of range 1100. How many mgs of pellets did he give you if it's less then 1500 mgs it might not last your 3 months so keep track on how your feeling. If you feel your levels are falling call him. Don't wait 3 months I feel you need labs after 4 weeks to see if the amount or pellets are enough.
