Guest guest
, Yes, it is very protective. As a matter of fact, it is currently in a phase 3 trial as a neuroprotective hormone for acute traumatic brain injuries. Thus far, it has had remarkable results. One guy was involved in a very serious car accident that should have left him in a coma and probably a vegetable for the rest of his life. He was administered large doses of progesterone upon arrival to the ER and three years later, he is back to his old life as if nothing had happened. I spoke to the lead PI on the research study and he says that the next phase in their research is to study the hormone as a neuroprotective agent against long term neurodegenerative diseases. He said that they are trying to find a way to safely administer large doses to men and women long term without disrupting their hormone balance. So as a result, he told me that men who are low in this hormone should definitely supplement it in physiological doses in order to get the neuroprotective affects from it.
