Guest guest
Hi surfingmedicman22 and Welcome, Yes please find out why your low first before going on TRT and if you want kids later test your sperm and if good have some frozen. If you go on TRT doing gels with out knowing why your low it is very hard to figure out. I was told my Testis don't work I am Primary by Dr.'s for 23 yrs. I found out I am not Primary about 5 yrs ago I am Secondary meaning my Pituitary dose not work. If you go to this link and read my story you will learn why you need to know what is making your Testosterone levels low and what you need to do about it. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 Endo's and Uro's are not good Dr.'s for this problem but if you learn about this and your Dr. will listen to you you can do well with this Uro. After all he is willing to treat you but dose he know how to do this. Most will not check to see why your low it can be Stress, High Estradiol levels, Thyroid or Adrenal Problems high Iron levels, a low grade Infection the list is long. Best way to tell what labs you need is to read Dr. 's site. At www.allthingsmale.com of if you can drive or fly out to see him. Or even ask this Uro if he will work with Dr. over the phone to test and treat you Dr. dose this. If you go to his site read TRT: A Recipe for Success in this are labs you need and why. I must tell you going on gels is the highest cost of TRT is you have a health care drug plain that pays for this it's one of the best ways to treat this. But you need to test after your on this 2 weeks to tell if it's working. Your levels can go down lower then your started. Adding any kind of Testosterone to your body will shut your body down from making it's own. And if you start on a low starting dose of Gel you can end up lower then you started. Here are some links to read about this problem learn about it the more you know the better off you will be. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450553 If you need more info just ask. Guest guest
If I was 36 I would certainly see if I was secondary and if so, try to raise it without testosterone. I wish I would have been given the option of HCG but my internist had never heard of that treatment.Being 54 it's not really a big deal but 36 is another matter. > > Hi, I'm 36 years old and fear that my levels may have been low for quite some time. I've had a lot of anxiety, depression, lack of energy, motivation, body aches, etc. for many years now and never until recently had my Test. checked. It is around 270 so Urologist wants to start me on gel therapy. Just a few questions. I didn't ask him what can cause these low levels. Is that something to pursue before I start treatment. Also, what are the side effects(short and long term) from Test therapy. Any input would be much appreciated! > > Thanks! >
