Guest guest
Hi Audioguy and Welcome, Question did you shower then put the gel on and go do your labs. If you did your labs are spike up higher then there are. We need to shower off the old gel do labs then come home and put on the gel. If you can't do this shower put on the gel keeping it off the area they take blood from and do the labs after 6 hrs. I was using a lab that had a range that high when I was on Androgel and the best I could get doing 2x's your dose was 550. When you put on the gel the testosterone stays just under your skin feeding your blood a little over the next 4 to 6 hrs. So doing labs just after you put on the gel you get higher readings then you are. But then again some men are lucky and get good levels on this starting dose how do you feel. Your labs look good as you can see your LH is shut down from being on TRT and in time so will your FSH so don't waste money testing this it will allways be low on TRT. Here is a copy of a file I made about gels. ==================================================== Starting on Androgel or Testim. Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel. Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150. The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and you fall back. Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread it over the area but don't rub it in. The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots. I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5 grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen and test them again in 2 weeks. When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later. Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell back. Guest guest
Phil, Thanks for your response. I did shower and put on the gel before having the blood drawn. I had specifically asked my doctor's nurse about this, and he said I should use the gel in the morning like I normally would. I usually put some of the gel on my upper arms but did not put any there before the test, in order to avoid direct contamination of the needle. Next time I have blood drawn I will be sure to wait until after the blood draw before applying the gel for that day. Is just the FSH test a waste of time or the LH test also? I was thinking if the LH was above zero that might mean my testicle was still producing some testosterone and therefore might not lose its ability to produce, which from what I gather happens when production shuts down entirely. Is this correct? Thanks again, Steve > > > From: audioguy19 <audioguy19@...> > > Subject: First blood test results on TRT > > > > Date: Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 8:56 PM > > I started Androgel 5g about 3 weeks > > ago, and had my first blood tests yesterday. Guest guest
Stive, I you were using 10 grams your Dr. would see levels putting on the gel first over 1000 and he would lower your dose. I see this all the time I talked to a drug rep from Androgel he told me never put the gel on first do labs then use the gel. Then he said if you work and can't do this keep the gel off the area they take the blood and do your labs after 4 to 6 hrs best after 6 hrs. Doing this you get at true reading how low your going it's when we fall to low we feel bad. On 10 grams of Androgel I only could get levels of about 600 and the lab I was using the top of the range was 1592 so this is dam low. If I were using Quest labs like I do now it would have been at 350 with the top of range 1100. The Testosterone stays just under your skin feeding your blood over the next 6 hrs. So once it gets through your skin it flows very far under your skin. Doing the labs in less then 6 hrs spiked up my levels very high. Guest guest
Thanks Phil, I will definitely not put on the gel before my next blood test. I'm surprised I got this bad advice. Is my theory on the LH correct? If my LH is above zero, does that mean my testicle is still most likely producing some T? Guest guest
Yes I never seen my LH and FSH go to zero but it got way down and when this happens your testis don't work much anymore and start to get small. I use HCG to keep them working I use to do big shots like 500 IU's 3x's a week now I just do enough to keep my testis alive about 150 IU's every 3 days. Guest guest
I received the results to my salivary cortisol test, which I did through Labrix: 07:00 AM: 5.65 (5.1-40.2) 12:50 AM: 5.70 (2.1-15.7) 07:40 PM: 0.34 (1.8-12) 10:30 PM: 0.48 (0.9-9.2) DHEA: 56.89 (137-336) all cortisol numbers are nmol/L, DHEA is pg/ml The cortisol graph looks pretty sad; my results are hugging the lower limit throughout the day. I'm thinking it's time I find a specialist in new york city and get some more comprehensive labs going. > > > > > > > > > > > From: audioguy19 <audioguy19@> > > > > > > Subject: First blood > > test results > > > > on TRT > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 8:56 > > PM > > > > > > I started Androgel 5g about 3 weeks > > > > > > ago, and had my first blood tests > > yesterday. > > > > Thanks to this > > > > > > group I made sure to have them test > > some hormones > > > > besides T, > > > > > > particularly E2. Guest guest
audioguy, Yes this looks bad your at about stage 4 or 5 in this like at the bottom click on the link to go to the next stage. http://www.chronicfatigue.org/ASI%201%20.html Yes you need a good Dr. for this good luck with that most Dr.'s testing this Endo's and all are only looking for the worest case. Like if you have 's or Cushings what you have is called Adrenal Insufficiency don't call it Adrenal Fatigue there is no such thing to a Dr. Here are some links to help you out with this to under stand it and a FAQ's full of info about treating it starting on meds even coming off them. Before treating this going on HC meds get an ATCH stim. test done to find out if your Primary meaning your Adrenals are over worked or Secondary like me meaning your Pituitary dose not tell your Adrenals to work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACTH_stimulation_test http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/how-to-treat/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/faq/ Going on HC meds is very safe some Dr.'s read about it's use when it first came out and the high dose being used was making people sick so read this link. ) SAFE USES OF CORTISOL by McK. Jeffries MD 3rd Edition Chapter. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/safe-uses/ If your on TRT and can't find a good Dr. drive to MI. see Dr. he treats this only needs to see you once to test and treat you by phone. www.allthingsmale.com There is a supplement you can by that is sheep glands 8 pills are = to 20 mgs of Cortisol read about it in the FAQ's.
