Guest guest
First off use a smaller needle when you aspirated and seen what looked like a bubble is just some fat going into the needle. If you don't see blood do the shot. What happened to you is you sent through a vain you did not shoot into it but when you pulled out this dam big needle you see blood. I do this off and on using my 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle. I always had the pad in my hand to put over the spot when I take out the needle. Guest guest
Unlike Phil, I think you are using the correct size needle. Evidently you nicked a vein. Maybe you went right through it and injected into muscle on the other side. If you really injected into a vein you'd have felt a " rush " at a weeks worth of T entered your bloodstream in a few minutes. You didn't say where you injected. You need to learn the correct place to inject. The Gluetus Maximus or Vastus Lateralis are the best two muscles. I've had T injections for the past three years and exactly once I've had a gusher like you experienced. About 3 times it actually hurt, and the others were nearly painless, and only a tiny blood spot. Anyway, you are doing fine and just had a bit of bad luck. You probably couldn't make that happen again if you tried. Guest guest
Okay Thanks. It was in the side of the thigh, so I guess Vastus Lateralis. I call it the side of my quadricep. I have plenty of mass there so I don't think exact placement is much of an issue. I'll just put it out of my mind and hope to do better next week. > > > > I just gave myself my 4th shot today. > > It didn't go so well -had a gusher of blood when I removed the needle. > > > > .5 ml in a 1ml syringe 1.5 " 23ga needle. > > > > Filled the syringe, started the injection. Guest guest
I prefer injecting myself in the glute. I find the thigh to be more painful. There are plenty of sites showing correct placement of injections at various sites. One advantage of the thigh is that you can see the needle to aspirate it. I don't do that in the glute, so I am taking a chance on hitting a blood vessel. If you do his a blood vessel, then you will end up with oil in your lungs. It is not very dangerous, but it will make you cough a bit. If you have a lung disease, it could be a problem. Guest guest
Hi, always put pressure on the spot when you pull out. but I think you'll do better with something like a 25g*1 " (smaller and shorter) or even a 29g 1/2 " insulin syringe... they take a while to get the dose in with that small needle but the shot is easier. > > I just gave myself my 4th shot today. > It didn't go so well -had a gusher of blood when I removed the needle. > > .5 ml in a 1ml syringe 1.5 " 23ga needle. > > Filled the syringe, started the injection. Guest guest
When I shoot into my thigh I start about 6 " from my knee and do the shot just off the top to the out side not the side. http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dave <dcbaden@...> > Subject: Re: Today's T-shot - Not so good > > Date: Sunday, November 7, 2010, 8:06 PM > Okay Thanks. > It was in the side of the thigh, so I guess Vastus > Lateralis. Guest guest
Just an update: I think I found the source of the gusher. I examined the needle spot closely and see that I went RIGHT through a vein under my skin. These veins are hard to see as I have pretty thick skin (probably from being hypothyroid). It's those same veins you see up and down a bodybuidler's thighs - but I'm no bodybuilder! Next time I'll pay closer attention. > > When I shoot into my thigh I start about 6 " from my knee and do the shot just off the top to the out side not the side. > http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm > Co-Moderator > Phil
Guest guest
In my experience, every now and then this will happen. My wife's a registered nurse, and she gives me my shots most of the time - in the glutes. Every now and then, there will be some blood. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. I think it's just a side-effect of sticking a needle into your skin and muscle. I wouldn't sweat it. > > I just gave myself my 4th shot today. > It didn't go so well -had a gusher of blood when I removed the needle. > > .5 ml in a 1ml syringe 1.5 " 23ga needle. > > Filled the syringe, started the injection.
