Guest guest
Hi Joe  Sorry to hear about the testosterone not working but you could be blaming the wrong thing. Going by your symptoms especially the sleep problems you should check your adrenals and thyroid out. Sky ________________________________ From: noonanjg <jgnoonan@...> Sent: Wed, 31 March, 2010 9:33:09 AM Subject: Going off TRT  Went to a new doctor today. Even though TRT raised my testosterone from 170 to 607 (before shot), all the other side effects from TRT really don't make it worth continuing. I am still tired all the time. I now have high blood pressure and the thickened blood issue and have to get a blood draw and then going in every week to get the shots. The shots are like water. I feel no different at all on them. He gave me blood work to do in 2 months to kind of see where the levels are. He did want me to investigate another sleep study because even with CPAP and a tranquilizer at night, I still wake up about 4 times a night and do not feel rested in the morning. Thanks for all the help over the past year. Regards, Joe

Guest guest
Hi Joe What treatment are you doing for your Thyroid? Here is the test for your adrenals. You do not need a doc http://www.canaryclub.org/diurnal-cortisol-4x-zrt.html Have you done a ferrtin level? Guest guest
Jeez Joe No wonder you feel like crap. Do you want to post where you live and i will try to find a doctor for you. You can email offline if you want to. I would get a copy of this book http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/book/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/long-and-pathetic/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ The most important thing now is to find out what your ferritin level is and get that cortisol test done. Guest guest
I live near Waterbury CT. I had my ferritin tested about 10 months ago and it was low, but serum iron was high. Again, the doctors dismissed it. Guest guest
I should mention that I did a 24 hour urine cortisol and creatinine test and both came back VERY high, but again it was dismissed as not significant. Guest guest
Joe, I don't use or need a CPAP. But,like you, I used to wake up during the night (sometimes every hour) for no reason. I found taking a low dose of Trazadone right before going to bed really helps with this. Other than helping me sleep, I've not experienced any side effects from this medication....no erections (priapism) lasting four hours or even two....darn! Jay > > Went to a new doctor today. Guest guest
Damn docs. Urine is not that reliable so we use saliva. But that high cortisol explains why you are not sleeping. So get the cortisol saliva test done immediately. This will show perfectly what your adrenals are doing  at different times a day and you need to know that so you can get the right treatment. My dad has this but he is low in the morning and very high at night. So he is on 2 different treatments for it. The longer you leave high cortisol the more chance is that your adrenals will crash to low and then that brings on a whole different range of problems. Guest guest
Your doctors are F***CKED if you have the results of the iron panel post them. If not get them for me. You need good ferrtin levels to handle any kind of thyroid medication. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/ I will get back to you on a good doctor. Guest guest
You need good ferritin for the thyroid hormone to get to the cells. You treat it by taking iron. If ferritin is below 70 people should check there thyroid. Guest guest
Most people don't do well on Synthroid my wife was one she seen every Endo in the area all of them told her natural dessicated thyroid like Armour don't work. Then the SOB offered her Prozac WTF is with that. She found a good DO Dr. and he put her on Armour and for the first time in 15 yrs she felt good. Find a better Dr. your paying the dam bill it you can't get something fixed find someone that will fix it. http://www.erfa-sa.com/thyroid_usa.htm http://www.universaldrugstore.com/medications/Thyroid/60mg Most of the men that are not feeling better on TRT have a bigger problem like Thyroid and Adrenals. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ Here is a good link that can help you find a DO Dr. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=12 & t=15451 Co-Moderator Phil > From: noonanjg <jgnoonan@...> > Subject: Re: Going off TRT > > Date: Tuesday, March 30, 2010, 8:15 PM > > Synthroid 100mcg. Already asked 2 dr about natural > thyroid meds and they both said no. > > Joe > > > > > > > Hi Joe > > > > > >  Sorry to hear about the testosterone not > working but you could be blaming the wrong > thing. Going by your symptoms especially > the sleep problems you should check your adrenals and > thyroid out. > > > > > > Sky > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > > > From: noonanjg <jgnoonan@ .> > > > > > > Sent: Wed, 31 March, 2010 9:33:09 AM > > > Subject: Going off TRT > > > > > >  > > > Went to a new doctor today. Guest guest
I have low Ferritin and have had it from the time I first got sick 28 yrs ago you take Iron pills for this. But the dam Dr. I was sent to did labs yrs ago and did not tell me to stop the Iron pills 5 days before doing the labs. So when the labs came back my levels looked good because I had an Iron pill that morning. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/ Here is a cut and paste of what STTM put in there book. ==================================================== Though it's most common with women, men are not immune from having low ferritin. Phil, a thyroid, adrenal and pituitary patient who specializes in men's issues, states: I had a lot of problems and couldn't pinpoint what was holding me back. My testosterone levels on meds were good; my HC meds were working; my thyroid levels were better; bI didn't get sick anymore in the winter. Still I went to bed fatigued and got up fatigued. I had a high pulse rate over 110 bpm at rest. I was out of breath just from getting a glass of water. Sometime, I felt as if I would pass out. I had mucus stuck in my throat just at the bottom of my neck, and had to hack over and over to get it up so I could breathe. To be honest with you I felt like I had congestive heart failure. Here I am on Florinef for low aldosterone levels, yet I was holding water so bad that I needed to take water pills every other day. It made no sense. Finally, the women on a group I belong to pushed me into testing Ferritin. My levels come back below normal. I was at 18 and the low end of the range is 29. After taking 212 mgs. of elemental iron from Ferrous Fumarate 324 mg., my Ferritin come up to only 24 after taking this for 7 weeks. Yet my breathing is so much better. I fly up and down stairs without getting our of breath. I stopped taking meds to help me breathe, as well as a med for reflux. I have dropped 22 lbs since using iron while being on the Weight Watchers program, while before, I gained on Weight Watchers. I am now getting exercise and not housebound. My feelings of depression have lessened, and hell, my sex life is better. I asked my Dr. why my iron levels are so low, and he feels it's the hypopituitary problem with so many low hormones. Guest guest
Most people with low Ferritin have good Iron levels but Ferritin is more important and needs to be treated my Dr. jumped on this you need to run from your Dr.'s. Guest guest
From what I know about 24 urine testing high levels mean your body did not use it. Guest guest
My ferritin would have to be high as well for hemochromatosis and it is low. > > > > > > > > You need good ferritin for the thyroid hormone to get > > > to the cells. Guest guest
So I met with my regular Endo this morning to discuss what to do. We've agreed that going off T would not be a good idea. We are going to drop the shot to 100mg a week rather than 150 and see if that will reduce the hematocrit issue. We also discussed dropping to 75mg/wk rather than stopping althogether. I also discussed testing T3 for the thyroid. She has never tested T3. I am on Synthroid which as you all know is T4 only and if my body is not converting it to T3 then that would be a problem. TSH and T4 are currently in a good range. I also mentioned the ferritin issue and she wants me to talk to my hematologist about it and test it. She wants me to go for another blood draw so we're sure the hematocrit is down. She is going to schedule blood work for 6 weeks and see how things are. Thanks for all your support. I also ordered a saliva Cortisol test (4 sample test) to see where that is. Regards, Joe > > > > > > > > > > > > You need good ferritin for the thyroid > > hormone to get > > > > > to the cells.
