Guest guest
Couple of questions, If you are heavy in weight, you might need the 200 mg per week but this is high for most men. (most men that are in the 150-180 pound range use 100 mg per week). Also what is your ranges on the test. The Testosterone level you reported was on which day of your cycle? Also remember by using arimidex you may also increase your Testosterone. My guess is your Test is too high a dose for weekly use. The other question you have to ask your self is how is the TRT working besides the high E2 symptoms? Good erections and libido? If these are good the best option may be to increase the arimidex and see what happens. Â Arkansas From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@...> Subject: Blood Test Results (3 Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010, 9:34 PM Â Hello Group - I have been on TRT for about 3 years. I had tried other therapies prior (Clomid) to going on Test Cypionate about 3 years ago. I have been on a steady dose of 200mg / week (single injection) A number of months back I found a very very small lump under one nipple and immidiately went to get bloodwork (assuming estrogen enduced gyno). My Estrodiol levels tested very high @ 80+ pg/ml. I began Arimidex (1/4 pill) 2 times per week. After 3 Weeks I got bloodwork redone and labs came in with a slightly lowered level of 72.3 pg/ml. I have been reading that 20pg/ml is the sweet spot to be in. Here is my question. Should I be lowering my Testosterone mg per week? Or should I be upping the frequency/dose of my Arimidex therapy? Here are my Test/Estrogren lab results (latest) Note: I take my shot on Sundays and bloodwork was drawn on Tuesday morning (hence high Total T) Estrodiol: 72.3 pg/ml Testosterone Total: 13.86 ng/ml Testosterone Free: 3.0 pg/ml
Guest guest
I can't tell you what to do but I can tell you what I now do and did. My Estradiol was a lot higher then yours and yours is very high. I needed to take .5 mgs or one half a pill of Arimidex everyday to get my levels down. I then hit the sweet spot and started getting some dam strong night time and morning wood after not having them over 30 yrs. I also had ED this was gone and keeping this down my libido came back over time. Later on about a week later I lost this wood labs showed I went to low so I stopped the Arimidex until the wood came back then that day I went back on it taking less. Still later on I lost my wood again so I stopped again. I ended up on .25mgs or 1/4 of a pill every 2 to 3 days. I still have times I need more I can tell when my levels are going up I get Panic feelings and sore and hard nipples. You need to keep a log on what you taking and how you feel after a time you will get so good at telling if your going to low or going back up and adjust your dose to stay in the sweet spot. I do about 200 mgs shot a week and I found doing this drives up Estradiol big time. I need this amount of T my body eats it up as fast as I take it. And it's not a good Idea to lower your dose to keep Estradol down your going to need arimidex anyway. So I do my shots 80 mgs every 3 days and the 2 days each in between my T shots I do 250 IU's of HCG this keeps me leveled and holds down Estradiol because I am not do a huge 200 mgs shot all at once. Guest guest
Hello and thanks for the reply/input. I am 34 and weigh 234 - not really overweight. Results were 2 days after my shot Despite being on TRT for 3 years I always was less than impressed with it's ability to help my libido (erections were never an issue - but didn't happen as quickly as now that I am on the Arimidex). The major thing that I noticed is about 2 weeks into my Arimidex therapy it was like I am in a whole new world - I finally have strong sexual urges again... like I did in my 20's.. It's to the point that I can't beleive what I was missing out on. If I were to increase the Arimidex would I go from 2x a week to EOD? Also will lowering my E also help with my low " Free Testosterone " values? I really want to get all my levels into the normal range. Guest guest
Thanks Phil - Appriciate your advice as well as your candidness with your own experiences. I beleive I metabolize the T quickly like yourself, as the blood testing I have done in the past which landed on my 6th day of my 7 day cycle has been low.. I don't recall the exact values but I could look them up. I think I am going to take a slightly different approach than you. Rather than complely loading up on Arimidex and then tapering back I think I will taper up and do more blood work. Can you or anyone on the group tell me how often I should get blood work? Where I live I have to private pay for these test so would like to avoid draining my wallet more often than needed. Also - I relate to your anxiety feelings. In fact I went on a low dose of an antianxiety meds for about 4 years. This was while I was on the clomid and before I went on the TRT. I began to have sides from the anxiety meds so came off them about 3 or so months ago (lost track now). Anyways once coming off the meds I did get feelings of anxiety, but since taking the Arimidex they do seem to have subsided and become less frequent. I'd be happy to share stories/thoughts on how people should get their hormone panels done before considering Anti Anxiety meds... I think if I had done that I would have not wasted 3-4 years on meds that made me numb and didn't fix the real problem... I'm sorta upset that no one tested my hormone values back before they put me on those meds.... Also curious why they never tested my Estrodiol levels back before they put me on clomid for 2 years.... ARG! You know what they say about hindsight! So here's my thought. I don't want to change too many variables and my immediate concern is to fix the hormone that is causing me problems. So the High E needs to be delt with. I think I will bump up the Arimidex from 1/4 pill 2x a week to a 1/4 Pill Every Mon, Wed, Fri. Again my single T shot is on Sunday mornings... Let me know if any of you see a problem with this equation. Also Phil - Based on a reply/post of your a while back and as well reading through lots of studies I also decided to add HCG to me regimine. I have plenty to get started, but want to get my E in check before adding that into the mix. Thanks again all.. > > > From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@...> > > Subject: Blood Test Results (3 Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) > > > > Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010, 10:34 PM > > Hello Group - > > > > I have been on TRT for about 3 years. Guest guest
If you labs were very high last time you tested 72 doing this dose of Arimidex I don't feel your going to get down to 20 pg/ml your doing 200 mgs of T a week a lot of this big shot is feeding your Estradiol levels been there done that. If you want to come down slower do .5 mgs every 2 days you will see what I am talking about in about 2 weeks doing this. Keep a log on how your feeling how much water you lose and your panic feelings you will see them getting better. I am just getting over a spike in my Estradiol levels my Dr. got me to take DHEA even with good levels on labs in men this can covert in to Estradiol. I started having Panic Attacks again in the middle of the night. I got up and took a 1mg. pill of Arimidex and my Panic was gone been down this road before Arimidex will stop this feeling in about 30 min.'s to an hour. But at the time I did not know it was the DHEA supplement I was taking. So this kept up I went from controlling my Estradiol levels on .25 mgs every 2 days to taking .5 mgs every day until I seen my DHEA levels on my labs they were 3x's above the top of the range. I am just now off the DHEA supplements 2 weeks now and having to go lower on the Arimidex now doing .5 mgs every 2 days. I don't adjust my Estradiol levels by labs I go by how I feel and my night time and morning wood. Going to low kills it big time not hard to figure out you can't get it up taking Viagra. Going to high I feel Panic get sore and hard nipples and feel hot and sweat easy it's a no brainier I need more Arimidex when I feel like this. My BCBS pays for my labs I get them every 8 weeks but I am on every hormones the pituitary gland controls I am Hypopituitary you can read my story at this link. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 And the update about my Heart Bypass Sugary a yr. ago Dr.'s feel my low hormones messed up my Heart. For you to pay for labs every 8 weeks will break you bank. Some of the guys here get labs from this link they are a lot less money then going through your Dr. http://www.lef.org/protocols/appendix/blood_testing_01.htm You can go to Dr. 's site www.allthingsmale.com and get a free complimentary 12-month subscription to Life Extension magazine. Then when you order your labs from them they will offer you a lower price to join there club and your labs will cost less. Also when you go to Dr. 's site read TRT: A Recipe for Success in this are labs he dose on his men that are on TRT. Guest guest
Ah ha - you mentioned you feel hot and sweat easy... I have said/joked for the longest time that " I sweat just tying my shoes " - Geeesh... makes me wonder how long my E has been way up there! I've run hot/warm/sweat easy for what seems an eternity. I can't wait to get this under control. In terms of Labs - I live outside the US on an island off the coast of Central America - so those labs you mentioned aren't really an option. I can certainly go by feel on the E levels but I would really like scientific confirmation that i'm not going too low.. or to confirm that I am even lowering the levels much at all. So my question is... after changing my Arimidex dose, how long should I wait before I redo labs? in other words how long will it take to clear out the existing E and get to a new steady state? I just took my shot for this week but I think next Sunday I will reduce to 100mg a shot and do that 2x a week... Like you and others have pointed out that is a big spike of testosterone into my body and likely is spiking my E. Thanks all! Guest guest
I would say 5 weeks but still if you take more Arimidex and lose your wood stop taking it until your wood comes back don't let your levels go down to low for to low this is not good. I need to tell you one more thing about this high levels of Estradiol make us feel stress this stess over works your Adrenals and you can end up with low Cortisol levels and this can have a bad effect on our Thyroid so read this link and test this. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ Co-Moderator Phil > From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@...> > Subject: Re: Blood Test Results (3 Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) > > Date: Sunday, January 17, 2010, 12:19 PM > Ah ha - you mentioned you feel hot > and sweat easy... Guest guest
I like to keep things simple. I would consider MWF doing 0.25 mg. This way if you do your shot on Sunday, you will get the arimidex in your system on Monday befor the peak. Guest guest
Only an opinion, but might it be better to dose the Arimidex the same day as the T shot, maybe even a few hours beforehand. This way the rapid rise in T has less ability for the aromatase action to take place. > > I like to keep things simple. I would consider MWF doing 0.25 mg. This way if you do your shot on Sunday, you will get the arimidex in your system on Monday befor the peak. It has proven really hard (no pun intended) to keep my E2 in the sweet spot! > Â > Arkansas > >
Guest guest
Based on what I have seen, you get a peak approximately 24-48 hours after injection. This is dependent on the ester that the testosterone is attached to. Arimidex has a half life of ~ 2 days. But with that said, everyone processes differently and you have to find what works best for you. It could be that doing both on the same day makes sense also.  Arkansas From: <kevinh@...> Subject: Re: Blood Test Results (3 Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) Date: Sunday, January 17, 2010, 4:20 PM  Only an opinion, but might it be better to dose the Arimidex the same day as the T shot, maybe even a few hours beforehand. Guest guest
As per Dr. Arimidex takes 5 weeks to stabilize in your body. Guest guest
Ok thanks - so that somewhat answeres my question on when to get new blood work done... sometime after 5 weeks from a dosage change... Great! Thanks! > > > > > > I like to keep things simple. I would consider MWF > > doing 0.25 mg. Guest guest
Thanks will check the link out. I actually have always been easily stressed and had just tossed it up to " well that's how my personality is " ... But once again I am wondering if these darn hormones have long since been the thorn in my side... Stress, Anxiety, Sweaty/Hot... not to mention the obvious other signs of fatigue, inability to concentrate, little drive (sexually or otherwise).... I was actually thrilled that I got back my morning and night wood over the past couple weeks from taking the 1/4 of a pill 2x a week. I told my wife I couldn't believe what it felt like to be turned on by just one simple kiss from her... Now every time I kiss her I feel like I am back in highschool having my first adolecent kiss again... (I recall the immediate reaction I would get back then) Amazing to have that back after far too long! I only wonder what it will feel like to really get my E into a normal range. Hope I'm not being out of line saying these things - I just think we're all in the same boat and here and hopefully all of our candidness will reach someone that can releate and that we can provide some confirmation for eachother in either direction. > > > > > > > > > > > From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@> > > > > > > Subject: Blood Test > > Results (3 > > > > Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010, 10:34 > > PM > > > > > > Hello Group - > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on TRT for about 3 years. > > I had > > > > tried > > > > > > other therapies prior (Clomid) to going > > on Test > > > > Cypionate > > > > > > about 3 years ago. > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on a steady dose of 200mg / > > week > > > > (single > > > > > > injection) > > > > > > > > > > > > A number of months back I found a very > > very small > > > > lump > > > > > > under one nipple and immidiately went > > to get > > > > bloodwork > > > > > > (assuming estrogen enduced gyno). Guest guest
Thank for the reply - follow-on question then... If 1/4 a pill 2x per week only brought my E levels down roughly 10 points, will adding in just one more 1/4 a pill during the week really do much? or is it not a nice linear ratio of dose to reduction? I realized I didn't respond to your question on ranges. Here are my results along side the " normal " ranges: Estrodiol: 72.3 pg/ml (Range: 0-70) Testosterona Total: 13.86 ng/ml (Range: 2.25-9.72) Testosterona Free: 3.0 pg/ml (Range: 8-19) (Again note the super high E, rather high T, and very low free T) (Again this was taken on day 2 of 7) Thanks! > > > > > > From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@ ...> > > Subject: Blood Test Results (3 Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) > > > > Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010, 9:34 PM > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > Hello Group - > > > > I have been on TRT for about 3 years. Guest guest
Hi, 200mg of cypionate a week is a good bit... but I'm doing about 175mg of mixed esters (a 450mg sustanon like mix mixed half and half with 250mg ethanate... so I get a bit of a quick response... and a bit of the longer life of the undeconate) myself... along with 250iu of hcg on days 5 and 6 of the week. I find I'm at my " sweet spot " doing 1/4mg of arimidex every 3rd day with the occasional " small quarter " (I save the smaller " quarters " for this) when I feel panic attacks etc I was doing 1/4mg eod but was borderline LOW on e2... you need SOME estrogen. if I was in your shoes I'd up the arimidex to 1/4 eod for a week (you're pretty high) then back off to every 3rd day and see how that worked out at your next labs. > I have been on a steady dose of 200mg / week (single injection) > > A number of months back I found a very very small lump under one nipple and immidiately went to get bloodwork (assuming estrogen enduced gyno). Guest guest
Yes but keep track of your night time and morning wood you don't want to go to low on arimidex it's not good for men to be to low. Guest guest
I was origianlly on less than 200mg - but because i wasn't feeling much different and because the blood work showed me mid-range the doc upped my dose to 200mg. It was then that I started feeling " some " changes - so I stuck with that dose. If I can get my E in check I plan to reduce the 200mg down so that I'm within T range as opposed to slightly over. It's my expecation that I can still feel the good effects from the T at a lower dose, but this time with my E near the 20 mark... I do plan to add in HCG - but not till I get my E under control and learn what it feels like / know what it feels like to have appropriate E values. Your comment about the small 1/4 made me laugh - as I always favor the larger ones and when I take the smaller ones say " well that's not gonna do as much " - so glad I now have an idea of how to use the smaller ones. So are you saying you can feel if your E levels are appropriate on a day to day basis? Is it really all about the morning wood???? Thanks for the input > > > Hi, > > 200mg of cypionate a week is a good bit... > > but I'm doing about 175mg of mixed esters (a 450mg sustanon like mix mixed half and half with 250mg ethanate... so I get a bit of a quick response... and a bit of the longer life of the undeconate) myself... > > along with 250iu of hcg on days 5 and 6 of the week. > > I find I'm at my " sweet spot " doing 1/4mg of arimidex every 3rd day with the occasional " small quarter " (I save the smaller " quarters " for this) when I feel panic attacks etc > > I was doing 1/4mg eod but was borderline LOW on e2... you need SOME estrogen. > > if I was in your shoes I'd up the arimidex to 1/4 eod for a week (you're pretty high) then back off to every 3rd day and see how that worked out at your next labs. > > > > I have been on a steady dose of 200mg / week (single injection) > > > > A number of months back I found a very very small lump under one nipple and immidiately went to get bloodwork (assuming estrogen enduced gyno). Guest guest
Your not out of line say anything you need to talk about as for your E's in the normal range they are there now if your getting wood. Now it's about keeping it there so your body can adjust to the new levels. As for Hormones messing up ones life. I had the honor of posting back and forth to Dr. nco at the Meso forum for Men's Health at. http://forum.mesomorphosis.com/mens-health-forum/ My friend Heardasnails is a mod there now. Anyway Dr.M now has his own forum. http://www.definitivemind.com/forums/index.php Hardasnails is a mod there too. Dr. M is a Psychiatry that is going to change the way Psychiatry is done he feels most people are having problems due to Hormones. At the home page here on the left side is a fine by Hardasnails " nco7.zip " open this and you will find some of the best posts by Dr. M from Meso when he came there to get help from men with low T for his new book. Once you start reading it's hard to stop. Guest guest
First thing I need to tell is your Estradiol test is not a real good one it's for women still shows you very high but if you have night time and morning wood your a lot lower then this test is showing. I don't see ranges for total T like yours where do you live. My Total T units are in ng/dL range is 250 to 1100. I don't have a chart to convert your units into the ones we use here. The test we use for Estradiol is a men's Sensitive test I use Quest labs #4021 the range for this test is 13 to 54 pg/ml and Labcorp has a good test http://tinyurl.com/yfylver the range for this test goes up to 70 is this the one your Dr. did. http://tinyurl.com/yfylver Co-Moderator Phil > From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@...> > Subject: Re: Blood Test Results (3 Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) > > Date: Sunday, January 17, 2010, 8:16 PM > Thank for the reply - > > follow-on question then... Guest guest
Well the test results I receive back show ranges for both men and women (women;s range shows all stages of women's life) Again - I live in Honduras if that helps you translate units??? I did ask for a " Estordiol Sensitivo " - but apparently they don't have such a thing here. Here's the other ranges listed on the Estordiol in case it interest you or helps validate my results: Translated to English... Normal Values: Men: 0-70 Menstruating women: 9-221 Follicular phase: 83-690 Mid-cycle: 26-408 Postmenopausal women: 0-86 So are you saying it would be impossible to have wood at the high level of E that I tested at? > > > > > > > > > > > > From: heyfritzy <haverhillguy@ ...> > > > > Subject: Blood Test Results (3 > > Years on TRT sudden battle with high Estrogen) > > > > > > > > Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010, 9:34 PM > > > > > > > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello Group - > > > > > > > > I have been on TRT for about 3 years. So are you saying you think my levels are now in the normal range but that my tests are somehow wrong? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: heyfritzy > > <haverhillguy@> > > > > > > > > Subject: Blood > > Test > > > > Results (3 > > > > > > Years on TRT sudden battle with high > > Estrogen) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Saturday, January 16, > > 2010, 10:34 > > > > PM > > > > > > > > Hello Group - > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on TRT for about > > 3 years. > > > > I had > > > > > > tried > > > > > > > > other therapies prior > > (Clomid) to going > > > > on Test > > > > > > Cypionate > > > > > > > > about 3 years ago. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on a steady dose > > of 200mg / > > > > week > > > > > > (single > > > > > > > > injection) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > A number of months back I > > found a very > > > > very small > > > > > > lump > > > > > > > > under one nipple and > > immidiately went > > > > to get > > > > > > bloodwork > > > > > > > > (assuming estrogen enduced > > gyno). Guest guest
If you have involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep your not too high it's just something I don't see happen I am not saying it is not passable. But the bottom line here is most of use gage the Estradiol levels by this involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. If you don't have them and have problems keeping it up for sex it's your Estradiol levels to high. When I am to high first thing that happens is I get a rash in between my little toe on my right foot and start to get sore and hard nipples then Panic Attacks start up with a feeling of been to hot and sweating a lot. If one is taking something to keep Estradiol levels down and reach a point were they have involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. Then there levels are good but if the wood stops this means your going down to low and even taking a pill like Viagra will not get it up. So keep a log day to day how you feel and what your taking read it back every weeks this shows you how your doing on your TRT and keeps you on track with your Estradiol levels. If you wake in the morning and don't think you have involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. Then before you get out of bed see if you can get it up fast and if you can't you going down to low.
