Guest guest
Yes if your Estradiol levels get to high it can have an effect on your Prostate it will swell up and slow down your voiding so it takes longer to empty your bladder. When I have this problem I sit down to void and take my time. You can get a bladder infection from this so try getting some Cranberry pure Juice or Tables and take this everyday it will keep you from getting an infection. Guest guest
I can't say if there is a relationship between hormones and bladder issues. Anecdotally, there may be soemthing there. Here's why I say this; I have (had) low T (and possibly some thyroid issues). I am now undergoing TRT (T-Cypionate) injections. I also have something called Interstitial Cystitis (known as IC). Look this up and see if you may have it. Early treatment will help. Yes, you will need to watch your diet (coffee is a big no-no). There is a web site or two devoted to this issue and they have some good diet tips. The one I like a lot is run by a lady who has IC. The link is: http://www.ic-network.com/ On the home page there you will see a link to the 2009 IC/PBS Diet (PBS stands for Painful Bladder Syndrome). The whole site is full of info about this disease (condition). It feels like it's not empty when it is, or has just been emptied. It seems worse lately, it even felt like maybe it had gone into spasm the other day (well that's what i assume it was, it just felt weird like i could not empty it yet there was nothing to empty yet it felt it was) I gather coffee and things like taht aren't good either, but wondered if there's a hormonal connection thanks Chris
Guest guest
Bill, My x-wife had IC. Not a nice thing to have at all. I guess it is more common in women. She is on narcotic pain relievers because of it. I know she had DMSO where they blow up the bladder with it. Tried the experimental Elmiron for years. Nothing helped it much. Guest guest
Brett, I had the DMSO treatment - no luck, you just smell like garlic for three days. I do take meds for the pain - and I wish I could get off of them. I have been taking Elmiron for about 6 months now. You said she didn't get any help from it. Do you know how long she took it for? Did she find anything that did help? Guest guest
Bill, I am not sure that the DMSO did all that much for her either maybe a little relief for a short time, if I recall. I think she was pretty much desperate to try any thing that might help. She was taking the Elmiron for several years not really sure why she stopped. That was a long time ago. Then it was experimental then and she was on a compassionate use study at the time. Is that a FDA approved med now? She was disabled because of the pain many years ago. Poor girl really had a rough time of it I don't really know that much about what she is doing now med wise except a couple of years back she did have to switch doctors because her previous Doc wanted her to cut back on her pain meds. Doc got scared, I think that was all there was to it. She has a better doc now I here from our daughter. Suffers a lot of depression and other issues too. Hardly ever leaves home anymore partly because riding in a car bumps bother her a lot and doesn't want to be far from a bath room. Our daughter has to do all her shopping for her. She is about 52 now. Poor girl is a mess. Brett Re: Bladder irritation and hormones Brett, I had the DMSO treatment - no luck, you just smell like garlic for three days. Guest guest
Thanks Brett. Elmiron is now a presribed drug. Exepensive stuff. I pay $335/month for it. So far, after 6 months, I don't see any improvement. It takes 6 months to 2 years before you get relief. It helps about 30% of the patients. I'm really sorry to her about her. I'm not where she is at as far as how much my life has been imprisoned, and God willing I won't be. Lots of trips to the bathroom and pain, but I can function reasonablly well still. Darn awful disease. Guest guest
Phil, Are you saying you get DMSO instillations (in your bladder) for low iron? DMSO is used to treat IC. It works (it helps somehwat) for some people. I had it instilled in me once and I didn't get any relief. Guest guest
No I used it on my skin with the following. =================================================== The Health Note on Vitamin B12 Deficiency mentions that a solution of vitamin B12 and folic acid in DMSO will transport the two vitamins through the skin. These are the two key vitamins required for the final maturation of the red blood cells. A deficiency of these vitamins may cause anemia even if there is sufficient iron available. Thus the providing of these vitamins, such as the use of this solution to transport the vitamins through the skin, could play a key role in the treatment of some cases of anemia. ==================================================== This worked great but now that I had Heart Bypass surgery I was told not to do this anymore and yes I did this with my Dr. Co-Moderator Phil > > > From: Brett Savage <brshop@...> > > Subject: Re: Bladder irritation and > hormones > > > > Date: Saturday, June 19, 2010, 2:05 AM > > Bill, > > I am not sure that the DMSO > did all that much > > for her either maybe a > > little relief for a short time, if I recall.
