Yes one I was a mod at but because other mods there were telling people how to

dose there meds and telling them what meds to take acting like Dr.'s. The forum

was contacted by a Lawer saying his client got dam sick listing to a mod. So

they shut down the forum most of us moved from there to this fourm.

I am still a mod for men's Thyroid Problems. But still this is the best one to

learn about Thyroid and it's problems it covers Adrenals every thing.

I would caution everyone about taking anyone's advice, both from doctors, and

groups on the internet. Doctors underdose you by relying on the TSH. Internet

groups overdose you because they have a " more more " mentality and swing too far

the other way. My beliefs are more in the middle of both extremes. A lot of

getting the right dosing is just trial and error.

Some have suggested I start my own website, and that may be a goal for 2011!

Barb good for you and You and I think the same way it's not about levels but how

one feels. I like what Dr. M says about Thyroid. The links for RT3 are not

helping much I keep getting all kinds of people sending me PM's not posting in

the open about there doing T3 only meds to bring down there high RT3 and ending

up in a bigger mess.

People read links think it's the Gospel and when people post there labs showing

there RT3 is high they tell them they need to get this down. Like that's there

problem when it's not.

Yes, Dr. no's site,

http://www.definitivemind.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4 is one I can

recommend. It is middle-of-the-road, moderate, and he understands that low

thyroid can actually be a result of another imbalance. He understands ALL the

hormones, and the interplay between them. The man is probably a genius, and

unfortunately, the rest of us, including OUR doctors, are not! Not everyone

needs to be on thyroid meds. I am very much a Dr. no disciple lol!

There is no voice for those who've been harmed by these extreme protocols. You

say one contrary thing and you're put on moderation. That's what my website

would be about. To give people more moderate guidelines, and to explain all the

side effects no one warns you about with all these crazy protocols.

So Phil, what do you think causes high rT3? We both agree T3-only is a bad

idea.

I feel it can be many things Stress,Surgery, one having a lot of Pain, low

Cortisol levels not being able to convert T4 into T3 and carry it out of the

blood into the cells. Poor diet lack of supplements like selenium, zinc,

chromium, Vit B6 and B12, iron, Vit D and iodine as they are all required by the

5-deiodinase enzyme responsible for proper T3 production while the chromium

helps control insulin resistance which can also impeed conversion.

I like this link about it and if one needs to bring down RT3 this I feel is the

best way to do it.

I am a mod on dr M boards and we have learned alot from one another in the past

sharing clincial expereince. I have been kicked off the main thyroid boards

because I was challenging them and basically told them they have no clue what

they were talking about. When I presented information that was very helpful in a

clincal setting that went against what they beleived they sent out the linching

mob. Any way a lot of them have came to see me and when the rubber hits the

road it turned out that majority of them where in abusive relationships at one

time or another and still living in denile. When ever I mentioned counseling

they would get their panties in bunch and blame it on hormones. I got tired of

hearing it. I was done wasting my time on that board, but have made alot of

good freinds that feel the same. There are alot of dangerous people on thyroid

forums telling people to up cortef 30 mgs a day for no reason at all. As phil

mentioned and I can attest few people that contacted me where having suicidal

thoughts from tampering with meds and not knowing any medical information about

who they are dealing with. One needs to look at all the information and then

develople a game plan from there.
