Guest guest
All the men I talk to I tell them don't go on TRT until you know for sure why your low. There are a lot of things that can make a man's Testosterone low but as low as you are I would say your Primary meaning your Testis don't work or your Secondary meaning your Pituitary dose not work. Can you get a copy of your labs and post them so we can see if your Dr. tested you for this. Put in the units and ranges. I also tell younger men to have there sperm tested most men with low Testosterone worry about going on TRT and it killing there sperm. This is not the case most men with low levels don't have good sperm to start with. So test your sperm if its good have some frozen for a back up. I know a lot of men on TRT that did not want more kids that thought having low T they could not make a baby and did. You have been on TRT now long enough to shut down your Body from making the little that you did. What happens is your brain sees the Testosterone in your blood and stops sending the LH and FSH or slows down sending it that tells your testis to make more Testosterone. Your on a starting dose of Testim and it is to low you need to get your Total T levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range and you need to test and keep your Estradiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml it's not low T that kills ones sex life it's high Estradiol. So talk to your Dr. about going up on your Testim in your case try 2 tubs 10 grams. Spread one tube on your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach and rub it in well then do the other side. To keep the gel off your kids ware a T Shirt and when you go to bed with your wife take a shower so the gel will not get on her. When you do labs shower first then go in and do your blood work in the morning then put the gel on after they take your blood. If you don't do this it can spike up your labs very high upset your Dr. he will lower your dose and you will crash. If you can't do this put on the gel don't get it on the area they take the blood and do your labs 6 hrs later. If your Dr. wants to send you to see an Endo don't do it they are not good Dr.'s for low T in men your Family Dr.'s knows more then they do. If your Dr. needs help testing and treating you you can ask him if he will work with Dr. over the phone Dr. dose this and your Dr. will learn about treating and testing men on your dime. www.allthingsmale.com Ask your Dr. for some HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)I use Novarel it comes in a 10,000 IU vial it's a shot it will keep your testis working and keep your sperm up. If you go to Dr. s site read TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG Update in this are labs you need and why print this out and give it to your Dr. Dr. puts this out there free for you and your Dr. You can also go to his Forum and post about being on TRT and wanting more kids you will get some replays from men that were able to do this. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s= & daysprune= & f=2 Here are some links for you to read about low T let me tell you if you did not go on TRT it would shorten your life. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450553 http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html http://men.webmd.com/news/20070605/low-testosterone-may-up-male-mortality?ecd=wn\ l_men_072407 Also I can't stress this more have your Cortisol and Thyroid levels check a lot of us men with low T have them problems. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ Co-Moderator Phil > From: tgbennett30 <tbennett@...> > Subject: Basic fertility questions > > Date: Wednesday, July 21, 2010, 10:15 PM > Background info - just turned 40, > energy and libido were in the toilet, so I decided to check > T levels with my GP. Guest guest
Thank you for the prompt and informative reply. I've called my doc to request specifics on my labs, will report back in a day or two when they arrive in the mail. Of note - my first lab values were all WNL (thyroid was good, don't recall if cortisone was tested) except for Vitamin D (which was only barely under the normal range), and I was given a script for that, too. With respect to my prior sperm count - don't have a number, but I've had two kids in the last 3 years, one of whom was conceived about 6 months prior to the Testim, and that was with about 2 months of " trying, " so I am hopeful that that means my count was not so bad initially. Another question, if you don't mind - you mention that my body shuts down LH and FSH when I start using Testim, which results in my body essentially not making any more T on its own. I'm unclear about the reversibility of that - in essence, if I stop the Testim, will my body eventually go back to normal (at least, what passed for normal before), or is my T production essentially killed for life? Thanks! philip georgian writes: > All the men I talk to I tell them don't go on TRT until you know for sure why your low. Guest guest
I guess the best way to put this is nothing from nothing is nothing and your stopping TRT your going to only go back to what looks like nothing. This is why you need TRT your not making enough. With your levels as low as they are you need to test your sperm to be sure it is still good you might find it is not due to your body not making enough Testosterone not going on TRT. Yet I have seen men as low as you are that still had fair sperm levels and got some frozen they never posted back that they needed to use it. I also know of men stopping TRT and doing HCG and doing some other fertility drug can't think of the name of it. They did this and it worked but they had good sperm levels before going on TRT. Some men stop making Testosterone because there Testis just stop working.
