When to test?

OK, so I just started doing 250 IU of HCG per day as treatment for

secondary hypogonadism. I am self treating and don't have access to

injectable T so I am using ONLY hcg which I can get easily and cheaply.

My question is, when should I test for my T levels? I'm going to be

using the " privatemdlabs " and paying for it myself. Thus, obviously, I

can't exactly afford to keep going back every few weeks for more tests,

but I also want to be sure that I'm doing a proper dose and not over

doing it or under doing it.

So how long should I wait to do the first test?

Oh, and in looking at their tests, they have " testosterone, total " and

" testosterone, serum " what's the difference?

Thanks!

In the past before my Dr. and I figured out I am Secondary Hypopituitary we did

an RBC, Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, Sensitive Estradiol E2 test for

men and SHBG. At Quest labs these to labs cover all of them but an RBC and my

Dr. has me test every 8 weeks others go as long as 4 months.

Estradiol sensitive Code #4021

Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable & Total LC/MS/MS Code # 14966X.

If I were you I would not start on HCG only doing this much I would only do 100

IU's each day and work up or down from there.

//*Human Chorionic Gonadotropin

*

It's produced in women during pregnancy and supports the production of

progesterone.

In MEN, it acts as luteinizing hormone// which, in men, tells the

testicles to produce Testosterone. The LH is normally produced by the

pituitary gland, but in people with secondary hypogonadism, (like me)

for some reason it doesn't get produced, so even though there's nothing

wrong with my testicles, I don't produce Testosterone. Thus HCG to try

and get it moving again.

Well, thank you for your input, however, as I mentioned, I have to pay

for these myself, so testing every 4 weeks is not going to happen. Also,

I will of course want to do many of the other tests as I can later...

but right now, I cannot afford them.

Right now, I can afford a testosterone test to see what, if anything,

the HCG is doing for me.

Back to my original question: How long after first starting HCG

monotherapy should I wait to get my first Testosterone test and what is

the difference between a " total T " test and a " serum T " test?

Thanks!
