Guest guest
Injections of testosterone cypionate are really dirt cheap, because they can't be patented. Even with no insurance, a 10 mL vial is just over $100.00. That's typically a 20 week supply. Syringes can be bought for around $20 for 100. Randy Hoops Springfield, MO > > I've been on Testim for about 4 years now due to low testosterone and starting this month my insurance company no longer pays for Testim. Is anyone else that is taking Testim running into this problem? I don't know if they'll cover Androgel or not. I'm also having to now submit a prior authorization showing that my levels were below the normal range when I first started taking the Testim, and my provider is having trouble finding the medical records from that far back. My total level was around 100 when I was first tested in 2007. > > I've been off the Testim now for 5 days and have noticed a drop in sex drive, though I also haven't been as irritable. >
Guest guest
Test cypionate is $89 cash at walmart and syringes are ten cents. I started with gel and ins jacked me around so I went to injections...best thing that could have happened. > > I've been on Testim for about 4 years now due to low testosterone and starting this month my insurance company no longer pays for Testim. Guest guest
Hi matt, I have the same problem been on TRT at the time 28 yrs I was lucky I keep a copy of all my labs so I was able to show them an old lab. I was sent to see an Endo and he took me off TRT my levels went down to 75. Do you work for the Big 3 Auto Co.'s I found out it the Co. I worked for. I am retired from Chry. an Union Eng. I even called my benefits rep he was a big help with this. Medco the Drug Co. I get my drugs from wanted me to go off TRT and do labs to prove to them I am low. I even talked to a Lawyer about taking them to court over this. Don't go off TRT to prove this to them you will crash and get dam sick. And it takes a long time to get your levels back up. If you don't what to do shots have your Dr. Call http://www.collegepharmacy.com/menshealth/andropause.asp They will compound your Test gel for you the cost is about the same as doing shots. If the Dr. you see did your first set of labs and can't find you old labs make it his problem. I am sure if he calls them he can get around this. Guest guest
Thanks Phil, I'm actually on my wife's insurance, though she doesn't work for one of the the Big 3. I am going to meet with my doctor next week and decide what the best route to take is if we can't find the old labs. The insurance co. is pretty steadfast about denying without the labs. What are the downsides to shots? I've been out of my prescription for a week now and can definitely feel a decrease in energy. > > > From: mattjtorres <no_reply > > > Subject: Insurance companies not paying for Testim anymore > > > > Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2011, 4:47 PM > > I've been on Testim for about 4 years > > now due to low testosterone and starting this month my > > insurance company no longer pays for Testim. Guest guest
Get a script from your Dr. if you want to do shots go to his office and get one so you don't crash and have him show you how to do them your self. I use a 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle and shoot into my thigh been doing this for yrs. I oil comes out of the vial slow so I just pull the plunger all the way down and hold it until I get my dose it takes a few min.'s and when you shoot it is slow and should be. Here is a link and also read the info page. http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm Co-Moderator Phil > From: mattjtorres <no_reply > > Subject: Re: Insurance companies not paying for Testim anymore > > Date: Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 12:09 PM > Thanks Phil, I'm actually on my > wife's insurance, though she doesn't work for one of the the > Big 3. Guest guest
Not sure why so many guys are concerned that their insurance won't pay for testosterone.A shot is less than what you pay for a fast food meal.4-5 dollars a week isn't a bad deal. > > > > I've been on Testim for about 4 years now due to low testosterone and starting this month my insurance company no longer pays for Testim. Guest guest
Phil that is not the point every if you get your health care through work your still paying for it. And it's the Idea your not getting what your paying for. They start with small things and when they get away with it they go on to bigger things. When I was told I had to prove by labs to them I have low T. I called them they had the nerve to tell me to stop the TRT and do labs. I asked to talk to a supper he told me his hands are tied. And yes he feels it is crazy to tell someone to come off meds to prove your sick. It like telling some one with high sugar to stop there meds to prove they are high. You can kill some one doing this crap. Guest guest
I just now got my refill prescription for Test Cypionate at Costco. The 10ml bottle is for 10 weeks and cost $50.48. Insurance doesn't cover it but at $5/week it really doesn't matter. I self inject and have no desire/need to go back to gels and creams. I get my blood work done from time to time to keep an eye on T, estrogen, hematocrit and cholesterol, etc. levels. No problems here w this program! Guest guest
Very good price. I may start this. I have a question, when talking about insurance coverage, does anyone have to go through Prior Authorization, before receiving a tier 3 drug? This became a hassle everytime I went to fill a script for Test cypo. The pharmacy would tell me to have my docs office call my insurance and then I had to follow up with the docs office to see if they called! HASSLE I would pay something like 50 dollars every 2 months for Test to avoid this hasstle. With hcg so cheap including bacwater and syringles and DIM (I brought them, but now will swallow once a night), I may can get a handle over my primary hypo for under $100 per 2 - 3 months. Its still a lot, but if I cannot make the Prior Authorization process easier, I may have to go this route. Guest guest
yep I've been on Testim for 4 yeaars and Aetna suddenly jacked my copay up to $60 and my Dr has to call them with a special pre-auth everytime. Getting him to do that sometimes can take a week, so he just switched me to Androgel. I wonder why Androgel is so much cheaper than Testim? > > > > > > I've been on Testim for about 4 years now due to low testosterone and starting this month my insurance company no longer pays for Testim. Guest guest
What size shot do you do 200 mgs per week most it will last them 19 weeks if it's 200 mgs/ml. Guest guest
I think it's only the mail order Drug Care plans doing this Medco and Caremark. Plus the 10 ml vial he got if it's 200 mgs./ml it will last doing 100 mgs / weeks 19 weeks. I don't feel anyone needs to do 200 mgs / week. Guest guest
When I was on Testim, I asked the pharmacists at Walgreens how much their cash price was (I knew my insurance was changing) His answer: $600! That's for 2 tubes / day. They must have a hell of a marketing team, because, IMO, the product isn't that good. Docs prescribe this stuff right off because most of them think we're too stupid to know how to work a syringe. > > > > > > > > I've been on Testim for about 4 years now due to low testosterone and starting this month my insurance company no longer pays for Testim. Guest guest
You can get compounded test cream or gel for about the same price as Test C shots. This link is one of the best I used there cream for yrs until the patch came out and my BCBS would not cover the cost anymore. http://www.collegepharmacy.com/menshealth/andropause.asp Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dave <dcbaden@...> > Subject: Re: Insurance companies not paying for Testim anymore > > Date: Friday, February 4, 2011, 11:51 AM > When I was on Testim, I asked the > pharmacists at Walgreens how much their cash price was (I > knew my insurance was changing) > His answer: $600! > That's for 2 tubes / day. > > They must have a hell of a marketing team, because, IMO, > the product isn't that good.
