Hi mjbearit and Welcome,

If you could post them labs with the ranges and units we could help you here.

High levels of SHBG bind up Free T so your levels will be low. SHBG goes high

from high Estradiol levels.

The range for Total Testosterone at Quest labs is 250 to 1100 if your below 400

you can have a problem with levels being to low.

Here is a link to what labs mean and what is the best area in the range.

http://www.lef.org/protocols/appendix/blood_testing_01.htm

If your labs show you need Testosterone meds don't go on them until you know why

your low. You can read about this at Dr. 's site www.allthingsmale.com read

TRT: A Recipe for Success in this are labs you need and why find out why your

low before going on T meds or you will not be able to find out.

Most of the time men feel like your feeling due to high levels of Estradiol E2

have this tested to high a level will kill your sex life and make you feel like

crap even lower your Testosterone levels.

Hey Phil, thanks! Felling better today! Got the motorcycle out of the garage

and burned through a tank of gas. Amazing how that can get your head screwed on

straight!

Labs are as follows:

Test Value Lab range

TESTOSTERONE, TOTAL 327 280-800

SHBG 54.8 14.5-48.4

Tot Protein 7.5 6.0-8.0

Albumin 4.3 3.3-4.8

Globulin 3.2 1.2-4.7

MiccroAlb, UR, QN, <3.0 <20.0

Creatine, Urine 58.5 Not Established

MicroAlb/Creatine <5.1 <30.0 ug/mgCREAT

Now I found an online calculator for the free/Bioavail and it works out as

follows:

Free Test 4.64 = 1.42%

BioAvailable Test 109 = 33.3%

Please be aware that this is off the labsheets on line. If the lab is wrong or

something, well, I don't know. Personally I don't know how the tot Test could

be normal from 280-800, from what I have read, but maybe it has something to do

with the way they run their tests?

Oh, yeah the usual other info as well, 49 YO for another couple months, Insulin

Resistant (not diabetic yet!), overweight (big surprise there!), HBP, borderline

on the lipid stuff. Obviously at my age I couldn't care less about fertility (I

think 5 kids is enough anyway!), but I know it bothers my wife that sex

is...well...you know! It's funny because all the oddball symptoms I just

chalked up to stress at work and getting a " bit older " (God I hate that term!)

as I keep getting reminded by everyone and his dog! It wasn't until I found my

nut was not so slowly disappearing that I started thinking that maybe there is

an underlaying theme here!

Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome!

Now to see what is going on you need your Estradiol levels checked with your LH

and FSH. If your Estradiol is good at about 20 and your LH and FSH are low it

can mean your Pituitay is not working right LH and FSH is he message sent to

your testis that tells them to make T. If your Estradiol levels are high with a

low LH and FSH this means your Estraidol is making your T levels low and getting

then down your TT levels can go up some 200 to 300 Points and you would not need

TRT.

In men the brain sees Estradiol as Testosterone and when Estradiol is very high

it thinks it's T and slows down sending the LH and FSH messages.

Thanks for the link. Went and took a look. Wow! That's a lot of tests they

have listed! From the look of it though it does appear somewhat low. I'm sure

that combined with all the 2 years of high stress at work it is just doing a

number on my bod. Of course if you mention stress the docs want to prescribe

something to mask the problem, so not going down that road. I like to be able

to use my brain!

I'll go over the results with the doc and see what he says. I do have an HMO so

sometimes you have to get kind of agressive to get them to do the right thing.

If he doesn't come up with the right answers (tests for FSH and Estro levels,

etc.) I will ask for a ref to an Endo. & Uro. I've learned that you get

excellent service from this HMO once you cut through the BS and get the wheel

turning. Since I've been with them for 20 some years, I've learned how to light

a fire under them! :)

Have a great weekend and thanks for all your help.

If TRT pushes E2 up, will E2 fall back to normal if TRT is stopped?

I pray it all works out for you Mike but I need to tell you Endo's and Uro's are

not good Dr.'s for low testosterone or sex hormone problems. You might end up

seeing a Dr. out of your HMO one that is up on all this. I can't tell you how

important it is to see a good Dr. I wasted 23 yrs seeing the wrong Dr.'s not

getting down to what was wrong with me. As it turns out I am Hypopituitary do

to a head injury I then started getting sick about 6 months later. You need to

read my story at this link.

Yes if it was the TRT if you had high levels before TRT it might stay up.

Interesting. The doc is convinced (I spoke with him 2x today) that this has

nothing to do with T and is something else entirely. Now I have to go for the

thyroid tests, and of course it was the old " What about sleep apnea? " " Does

your wife tell you that you stop breathing at night? " . Looks like it is going

to be a long go round of tests. In the mean time, I have been scouring the web

for helpful tips. Specifically for items to keep the estradiol from binding to

the receptors and to keep the T from converting. I stopped on the way home

tonight and picked up some Zinc, B6 and Flax Seed Oil. The store I stopped at

did not have Chrysin, but I would like to try it with what I have (eventually),

journal any changes, and possibly add the chrysin at a later date. If I can

just hold onto what my body is producing I think I'll be okay, and I know the

answer is out there somewhere. I just know that waiting around for them is not

going to be the answer so I am going to try some " suggestions " and see if I

notice any improvement. I'm not going for anything " out there " or " Outlandish " .

Nothing that could cause harm, IMHO.

Interesting about the head injury though. I did end up with a concussion about

2 years ago. Makes me go " Hmmmmm " .

Thanks for your help

Mike,

Don't take the Flax Seed Oil it can drive up your Estradiol levels even higher

as per Dr. . As for Chrysin for get about it taking it it gets killed in

your stomach only way it would work is to have it compounded into a cream and

put it on your skin.

Indolplex/DIM works great to keep Estradiol in check as long as your not having

a big problem with It like I have.

If your Estradiol levels are not to high men see it working in about a week to

10 days it is slow so you need to look for things to start to feel better.

Thanks Phil, can't find the Chrysin locally anyway. I actually have no idea if

it was the Flax Seed oil or what, but my joints sure feel better today! Yeah,

I'm arthritic to boot! The B6 and Zinc sure made a HUGE difference for me

mentally! I feel like I am coming out of a fog I have been in for years! Still

not totally where I want to be, but these things take time. So much better in

such a short amount of time makes me think I was REALLY deficient in something!

I gotta tell you though, I'd rather battle the E from the flax seed oil than the

constant pain from the arthritis. I have a feeling this is going to be a fine

balancing act. Oh and I just noticed, I ate lunch an hour and a half ago and

didn't even think about falling asleep! Wow! I think feeling normal might just

be within my grasp!

Thanks for your help

That is great news mike I have sore joints and muscle off and on right now my

back and down the sides of my legs hurt. But my Dr. lowered my Test C shot

about 3 months ago only 10 mgs from 80 mgs every 3 days to 70 mgs last blood

test 6 weeks ago my Total T fell about 300 points from the higher 800's down to

the low 500's.

I feel like crap now a lot of fatigue and sore joints and muscles. He did this

because I am now on Growth Hormone and in most men doing GH you can get by on a

lot less testosterone. But not me I feel it big time.

I just did a mess of labs this morning so there goes a pint of blood or at least

it looked like one. It will take me a good 12 more weeks to feel better been

down this road many times.

I did go for a walk with my wife the fatigue is so bad we had to sit for time

half way through the walk. My wife keeps telling me I am on my way out like she

is God of something.

Damn Phil, please don't take this the wrong way, but your wife is a

callous.....okay, never mind.

I guess I called it too early. About 2:00-2:30 I started crashing. I feel like

I'm right back where I started right now. But at least I had a good morning!

The afternoon really sucks! I wish I could curl up and take a nap somewhere

right now. Naturally we have guests, and of course it is people I don't even

like (no matter what my levels of what are, they are the wife's friends) so I

have to " put on a happy face " and pretend like everything is fine. Damn I feel

manic or bi-polar or whatever the term " en vogue " is now a days! I did pick up

some vitamin C today also. I picked up what I thought was DHEA, but it was

actually DHA so I'm not sure what the hell I have! And of course it was 2 for 1

day so I have 180 gel caps of something that I don't know what the hell it is!

I'll wait until tomorrow when I, hopefully, will catch my next " high " and read

the whole thing. I couldn't even concentrate enough to read the damn label.

Okay 10 minutes of typing with tons of backspacing is enough! I'm gonna rest

for awhile.

Again, thanks for the help

Sorry Mike but I hope it all gets better with me lately it's feeling like crap

in the morning. I push my self to eat and clean up then I sit here and wait. I

feel with me it's my sugar levels they are low in the morning because about an

hour after I eat I feel better. Yes my wife if a bit much at times but I love

her.

in the morning. I push my self to eat and clean up then I sit here and wait. I

feel with me it's my sugar levels they are low in the morning because about an

Thanks Barb I have been down this road so many times let a Dr. lower my T dose

and I end up like this. Knowing it will get better when I get my levels back up

and keep them there it will get better. I did labs yesterday and can't wait to

see how my Thyroid looks I might need to add some T3 to my T4 only meds.

I need to be careful not to go hyper again being on Growth Hormone. I can't

help but say this I hope in the long run going on GH will help. But in the mean

time it's about readjusting meds on this.

I hope you feel better soon. This morning I feel much better myself. I pushed

back my hours at work to go in an hour later. I just wasn't getting enough

sleep. That extra hour makes a huge difference! Luckily I work from home 2

days a week so I do get some respite from the crazy office atmosphere.

I was diagnosed as insulin resistant years ago, they keep trying to classify me

as diabetic, but they just can't do it because my numbers won't be consistantly

high! Frustrates the hell out of them! They want to measure my lipids and BP

and such against the diabetic chart and yell at me and I keep telling them they

can't do that, they have to use the normal chart in which my numbers might be

high, but are in the normal range!

I would suggest you go out and get a glucose meter (no RX required). If you are

having issues with your BG levels, you can track it and find out what different

foods do to you and the best times for you to eat, what exercise does to you,

etc. It is actually quite revealing. It might give you some help in that you

can learn to wake up and take some fast acting simple carb if you are low upon

awaking. It really can help you plan things in your life better. It has kept

me off their meds for about 8 years or so just by helping me to plan what I eat

and when.

Yeah Phil, hang in there, I hope you feel better soon. I know that when I came

off of the Zoloft, I was pretty miserable and irritable, for a few months, so I

know what changing medications can do.

I have no reason to complain today, because in spite of having an ED issue now

and again, I basically feel pretty darn good. I haven't been in the shape I am

in for long time. I am still losing weight too. I feel once I can get my weight

down to about 190, I will feel even better.

Yes I have a gage and suffered from low cortisol levels and take HC for this.

For yrs I suffered from low sugar until I went on HC meds. But now I am on

Growth Hormone again need to Waite this out the GH lowers my sugar levels in the

morning until I am on this about 3 months. So it is getting better.

Oh yeah, there is no way I could do it if I were fatigued! But once you get back

to your ole self, and who knows, being on the HGH, you might feel even better

than you had before. You will be able to do exercises. I am so glad that I

decided to do something, when I hit 230. I am only 5'11 " , so I was pretty

overweight. Down to 203 now. I had never been able to get past 208 in the past,

so I feel like I am going to achieve my goal of 190 this time. The biggest key

for me was to start eating properly. Cut out sugars, potato chips, soda's, and

junk all together. I drink a lot of whey protein shakes too. Check out the video

on this web page. This guy is an inspiration. He is a year older than me.
