Guest guest
I hope this will be my last post until I actually start on TRT. Once again, due to reading on the internet I have come across another conflict,.....this one could have serious implications for me. Some articles say that TRT will help you if you are hypertensive, and others say it will most likely make it worse. I don't know what to think actually. I was first diagnosed with HBP at 41, and I am now 48. I never had my T tested before this round and I may have been dropping when my hypertension appeared, I really don't know. My only HBP med is Cozaar which never caused any issues for me like many meds do. By and large it keeps my pressure in a safe range 90% of the time. I am wondering if I might be looking at increasing blood pressure with TRT resulting in more meds being added to keep it down. Anyone here with hypertension, and if so, what happened after you started TRT? Better, or worse. I realize I am asking a lot, and contributing little. I am worried about getting into a spiral of more and more meds though.
Guest guest
Better a little but it is still all diet and physical fitness. Guest guest
Are you sure you have HBP I was put on meds for yrs and every time I stood up I got dizzy and had to stand there a min. before moving. When I got on TRT my Dr. told me my BP might go higher. This like you upset me and the next time to took my BP it went up so to upped my dose. I was passing out at work I worked for a big Co. and they had a Dr. there he took my BP and told me it was very low and a long story short I have White Coat Fever when someone takes my BP it goes up. They took me off BP meds today I am on the because I am now 66 at the time this happened I was in my late 30's. TRT has never made my BP go up. I will hold water and still it will not go up if I take it myself. Still if a Dr. takes it they get a high reading. Guest guest
Phil,....I understand what you are saying for sure. While I may have a small amount of 'white-coat' hypertension from time to time, I do have an issue with the real thing unfortunately. It is in the genes per se. I only get that WC effect if I am ticked off from a huge wait, and I have a lot of things waiting. I am driven by adrenalin it seems,.....definately a type A personality. I take my BP myself several times a week with medical quality auscultatory cuffs. Remember I used to me a medic! Wish it was only the docs taking it that made it go up. Guest guest
No change for me - pre-hypertensive prior to starting TRT 140/90 - started BP meds which control it to 120/80. Once on TRT - no change  Arkansas From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> Subject: TRT and Hypertension Date: Tuesday, May 4, 2010, 2:50 PM  I hope this will be my last post until I actually start on TRT. Guest guest
Well even no change is good,.....I am mainly worried about it getting worse. Mine is not controlled quite as well as yours, but I refuse to go on a beta-blocker right now. Doc wanted to add Bystolic which is a BB 6 months ago and gave me a bunch of samples but I have never taken it, and he knows it. I am having enough issues with fatigue from my T level of 209 without adding to it with a beta-blocker. A big reason my BP is up a little bit even on Cozaar is due to the fact that my extra exercise has ceased for now. By the time I finish my regular work, which is often quite physical,......I am too pooped to even think about using my weight machine or treadmill in the evening. > > > From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> > Subject: TRT and Hypertension > > Date: Tuesday, May 4, 2010, 2:50 PM > > > Â > > > > I hope this will be my last post until I actually start on TRT. > > Once again, due to reading on the internet I have come across another conflict,... ..this one could have serious implications for me. > > Some articles say that TRT will help you if you are hypertensive, and others say it will most likely make it worse. > > I don't know what to think actually.
