I'm 64, with non-insulin diabetes, low thyroid, prostate issues, and extreme

obesity

(5-11, 275 lbs--due in some part to " bad " meds, and other things beyond my

control). My PSA was around 4.5 about 5 years ago, and zoomed up to 20(!!) three

years back--a biopsy was thankfully negative, and PSA after 2-3 yrs is now down

around 10. TOO SLOW!!  Last summer, my T was about 70, when the normal range is

250--850.  I don't know whether my lethargy, weakness, sleeping problems, mental

fog, etc are due to very low T, or thyroid, or pituitary problems, or what.

(Have located an OD in Raleigh, however, who is reportedly enlightened and

caring--though can't say yet what problems she covers...)My urologist was

futzing around with my bladder when I last saw him (Jan this year).  Haven't

gone back because he Rxed Ditropan, which can RAISE PSA--little confidence in

him now, though not a lot of uros to choose from around here. But need to bite

the bullet.I've got to get my PSA down before I can have T replacement (or

estrogen lowering, if that can

also help one lose weight?).My prostate is something like 84 gms(??)--over

twice normal size.  Doesn't prostate size affect PSA?  If that has been proven,

does thermal treatment to reduce its size lower PSA?  What other methods are

there that are safe and effective?  I'd rather not take Finesteride, with its

side effects, if there are better ways...Grateful for any insights and

advice,____________________________________________________________________\
