Guest guest
Mike, HOrmones do play a huge part in proper lipid panels, but lifestyle, and nutrition play a much bigger role. Some times genetics also affect <5% of all people with altered lipid profile and medical intervention is a must. > > Hey Group, > > Does high estrogen or low testosterone or both cause a poor lipid profile? > Just got some labs back and my lipid profile is horrible. > > Thanks, > > -- > Mike > > >
Guest guest
If you mean high cholesterol, that is controlled by your liver, so any drugs/diet that affect the liver (like alcohol), will affect your lipids. Hormone-wise, low thyroid certainly correlates with high cholesterol, and I've seen a correlation with low testosterone also. Guest guest
Estrogen tends to increase triglycerides, HDL and LDL. High testosterone can also decrease HDL. Funny thing is that low testosterone can also decrease HDL. Before I started Androgel, my HDL was in the low 40's. After starting Androgel, it dropped to 32. However, within a year it was back up to the low 40's. When I added HCG to my routine, my testosterone went too high. My HDL dropped significantly too. However, at a level of 679 (scale 200 - 800), my HDL was high. At a level of 1,070, my HDL dropped to 51. Six weeks later, when my testosterone dropped to 679, it rose to 71. As a rule-of-thumb, testosterone tends to lower LDL and triglycerides. ________________________________ From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@...> Sent: Wed, March 9, 2011 9:41:06 AM Subject: Lipid profile question  Hey Group, Does high estrogen or low testosterone or both cause a poor lipid profile?
